This is the 2nd time we have stayed here in the past few years. There's always security out front 24 hours a day, the breakfast is SO good, across the street from the beach. I really think its an amazing place to stay and will of course continue to come back every time I go to Rio!

The hotel is near to the beach but a little far from the centre. Nothing great nearby. There is a small shop just outside the hotel where you can get water , cookies etc. The hotel itself is well maintained. Room size ok, neat and clean sheets , clean bathroom ,service great. I had a chocolate desert at their restaurant...

This smaller hotel close to the beach is a very good option. The staff is attending very professional. The breakfast has the good standaard of all hotels of the Windsor group. Compared with other hotels of the same level in Rio the pricing is very honest.

Surprised that someone complained about the view, never do they say it has a view, and if you do want a view of Copacabana it will cost double. This hotel is situated less than 50 mtr from Copacabana beach. There is I think a lifesaving stn with a HUGE no5 printed on the side, it's just at the end of...

Dear Mr. Gordon, Thank you very much for your nice and realistic comments. We really do not sell our hotel as a sea view hotel, because we are a half block from the beach and we only have a few windows that you are able to see the beach. We really try to offer the best service to all our...

The staff here are amazing!!! From start to finish our stay here has been brilliant! The breakfast awesome! Although the rooftop pool is small, it is still enough. A 30second walk from post 5 on Copacabana. Surrounded by lovely restaurants! I would definitely stay here again

For the price I paid I was expecting luxury over $150 US for the night I got a average room with street view nothing special would pay a little more for 5 star luxury seeing that it was my birthday. They have water soda and snacks in the room but if you eat them you will pay upon checkout.

I really enjoyed staying st this hotel. Excellent service from front desk to concierge to cafe. Fantastic location close to Copacabana beach and an easy walk to Ipanema. Great breakfast as well - lots of fresh fruit, bakery items and hot breakfast. Good coffee too by all accounts. Handy to good restaurants and bars. Would definitely go back!

This hotel is awesome. Let me first say that breakfast is so good, and the service in general too! Location ia excellent, 1 minute from Copacabana Beach. I loved it. The pool is small but who cares about it when you have the beach almost in front of you! Choose this hotel!

This hotel has clean comfortable rooms with a safe, refrigerator and reliable internet in the rooms. The staff is friendly and the breakfast abundant and varied. A supermarket is just a block a way and a Metro station (with lines to downtown and Barra) not far.

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.

I've just recently booked up a holiday for Rio next March at the Windsor Martinique having wanted to visit for many years. Now I've been well aware of the problems with crime in the favellas and had no intention of visiting them. It is disturbing though that I've heard media reports of a sharp rise in tourist muggings and gangs of youths 'dragnetting' beach areas like Copacabana and Ipanema. Buses from poor areas being stopped at roadblocks before entering the tourist zones and vigilante reprisals. This all sounds pretty awful now frankly

We are a couple in our 50s and 60s and are pasty skinned Scots hardly likely to pass for locals however hard we try to look like them. We will be staying at the Windsor Martinique hotel on the south end of Copacabana and I notice on google earth that there is a favella barely 400 yards away from us on a steep hill . I would very interested to hear of anyones recent experiences in this area? We would also like to go out at night for dinner but this is a definite no no according to the comments I've read elsewhere on the forum here.

The more I read here the more I'm dreading going and of telling my other half what I've discovered because this was my idea in the first place ! Brazil will be our 50th country and Rio one of the 200+ cities we have visited including in many third world countries too. I'm a seasoned traveller but I cannot honestly say I've been quite as apprehensive about going to anywhere before having read right through this long thread and the many attached reports.

This is the last thing you want to know before going on holiday is that you will be a target :(
