The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.

Helpful and nice staff. Great breakfast and good service. Pool was a bit small but the hotel is so close to both copacabana and ipanema that we wouldnt have stayed there anyways. Good airconditioning and nice rooms.

Tricky to pick the best location for a trip to Rio but this hotel is a very short walking distance to both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. The headland between them is also a great spot to watch the sun setting.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants close by as well.

This is an nice hotel only one block away from the Copacabana beach. The room was a little small possibly because of the size of the bed, the bed was large and comfortable the pillows were nice. The ensuite was of a good size and a shower was not in the bath. There was a TV and w

This is a perfectly pleasant hotel. It is unfortunate that there is no area to sit and relax apart from beside the pool, which is not a viable option when the temperatures dip and the rain comes down. The bar served us something that bore no relation to the bottle it came from, a

Dear David P, First, we´d like to thank you for choosing Windsor Martinique during your visit to Rio de Janeiro. Our dedication for all guest´s satisfaction is full time. We are glad and proud to know that according to your comments our hotel is quite pleasurable. Unfortunately our dimensions are not so big, and we apologize if your expectaions for a relaxing area, besides the rooftop was not reached. Regarding the comments of the drink served in our bar, it´s necessary to clarify that many famous brands are offered there and we would need more details to find out what could happened. If the problem was the product offered or the procediment to prepare the drink. Above everything , our priority is our guests enjoyment and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, wishing to have another opportunity to host you quite soon. Sincerely yours, Edson Brandão General Manager

Hello, I know folks are sick to death of these questions, but I need to ask (patience please). Is safety a concern--at day and/or night--in the proximity of the hotel, provided that one doesn't do anything stupid. With the proximity of the Favela, and the endless reports on muggings, it is an important thing to clarify. I'm mainly asking for a 2018 update, since may of these reviews are dated. Thank you.
We have to be careful how all large cities

I've just recently booked up a holiday for Rio next March at the Windsor Martinique having wanted to visit for many years. Now I've been well aware of the problems with crime in the favellas and had no intention of visiting them. It is disturbing though that I've heard media reports of a sharp rise in tourist muggings and gangs of youths 'dragnetting' beach areas like Copacabana and Ipanema. Buses from poor areas being stopped at roadblocks before entering the tourist zones and vigilante reprisals. This all sounds pretty awful now frankly We are a couple in our 50s and 60s and are pasty skinned Scots hardly likely to pass for locals however hard we try to look like them. We will be staying at the Windsor Martinique hotel on the south end of Copacabana and I notice on google earth that there is a favella barely 400 yards away from us on a steep hill . I would very interested to hear of anyones recent experiences in this area? We would also like to go out at night for dinner but this is a definite no no according to the comments I've read elsewhere on the forum here. The more I read here the more I'm dreading going and of telling my other half what I've discovered because this was my idea in the first place ! Brazil will be our 50th country and Rio one of the 200+ cities we have visited including in many third world countries too. I'm a seasoned traveller but I cannot honestly say I've been quite as apprehensive about going to anywhere before having read right through this long thread and the many attached reports. This is the last thing you want to know before going on holiday is that you will be a target :(
Hi We have recently returned from Rio - staying in the Windsor Martinique It was a great experience We walked ,during daylight hours along the Copacabanana and Ipanema beaches, also along the shopping streets slightly inland from the beaches We explored many areas and enjoyed the experience No problems whatsoever At night we used the local restaurants which were on the Main Street running immediately parallel with the beach To be honest we did not venture more than half a mile from our hotel, but that was not because of any fear The only incident we saw was some youths shouting at people in the street side bar from a bus Obviously we did not take valuables with us The area seemed safer than many areas we have visited worldwide

Hello, What is the best and safest way to get to the hotel from the airport (Rio de Janeiro–Galeão International Airport) during Carnival 2016? Thank you in advance, phillipsshay
Can't really help our to and from airport was included in our package, but the hotel was organising taxis for people as required, which I don't think was to expensive.
