We were extremely lucky to find accommodation two months before the kick off of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. We were heading to the closing ceremony. After searching for places in Expedia, Kayak, Trivago, you name it... we decided to try searching for hotels in TripAdvisor. Grande Hotel Canadá popped up on our screen. We were drawn, like a magnet...

The hotel is OK....clean and tidy. Good size room but be advised you could get a room looking at a wall. Also I was kept awake by other guests leaving all through the night....not a lot of rest and when I spoke with reception they shrugged there shoulders....I stayed at this hotel because I read what other guest had said....shame...

Just one street up from copacobana beach. Much less expensive than the hotels directly across from the beach. Ipanema is also a very manageable walk. The breakfast is very good...lots of fruit, eggs, breads, etc. The desk staff speaks English.

Hotel canda is a decent hotel. Nothing special or bad abouot them. We loved their price and their location. Its about a 3 minute walk from one of the busiest beach's in the area copacabana. The service was good but the beds a little smaller.

We forgot one of our bagagges in our hotel room. Even though we sent an e-mail the next day, it disappeared. The responsible people came up with several excuses which appearently were a tissue of lies. Probably someone from the housekeeping service stole it. Very disappointing experience, i will never again set a foot into that hotel.

Good 3* hotel on very good position, just 3 minutes wal from Copacabana. Nice lobby with small reception. Rooms are basic, but you have everything what you need, very good maintanance. You can have rooms faced to main street (you can hear the street) or to courtyyard where you can hear aircon, but ist still ok. You are very good...

It is a basic hotel but the location is great as it is one block back from Copacabana beach. Breakfast is very good and plentiful and even had a toaster as most hotels in Brazil seem only to offer a toaster machine. Manager / owner wanders around straightening everything at breakfast! Very amusing to watch. Staff were really helpful and...

The hotel is very average, but is reasonable priced. The reception clercks and porter act a bit stiff and formal. The breakfast is one of the perks. Hotel Canada has a good location for shopping, beach and restaurants

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
