Location is decent. Just about 2 blocks from the copacabana beach. Also close to many restaurants, a grocery store, taxi stand, busses , metro etc. Property is old and adequate. Breakfast is decent. Front desk speaks good english and are generally helpful. Room looks very old and dated.

The most appealing thing about the Vilamar is the location - three minutes from Copacabana beach, close to many restaurants, bars and shopping. The included breakfast is good and generous. Some of the rooms are much better than others and it is a good idea to look at a few. Some rooms are nice, big and airy while others are...

Would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. The attitude and service of their staff is just horrible. They don't have any "can do" service and couldn't help to solve anything. A friend who lives in Rio wanted to visit me and hang out but at the hotel they only would allow one friend to come and for maximum...

We have stayed 5 nights in the hotel. The location is excellent, staff is nice but speak limited English sometimes. Breakfast was decent. However the rooms were bit dark and you could hear and smell the street through closed windows. The missing wifi in the rooms (ethernet is available) makes the experience a bit lower. Safe is big enough to...

We traveled with another couple to Rio with a Tour arranged by GotMyFare.com. They switched our 4 star hotel to the Villamar at last minute. Bad deal for us!! Dont use this travel company. But as for the hotel. This hotel may rate a 2 star. Hotel was ok, in fairly good location to beach (about 2 blocks), but it...

Spent four nights in the beginning of November. Enjoyed our stay for : the best location (100 metres from Copcabana seashore, the good brekfest and the large rooms and helping stuff. The price comparing to similar hotels in the near vicinity is good (around 120$ per room per night). Recomended !

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
