It is definatelly worth staying at Vidigalhouse due to its location. Although located in Favela, do not be scared at all. It is much safer then center of Rio (Lapa) where we stayed last night of our stay and we were robbed in the middle of the day by a guy driving a bicycle threatening that he might hurt us...

I was picked up from the airport by the taxi organised by the hostel and dropped off right at the door. I was welcomed by Bruno and given a tour of the facilities. The place is small but has a roof top area/bar and bbq with great views of the city and beaches below. We felt very safe here and...

Nice hostel in a favela that was surprisingly safe and open. Sheraton hotel is right Down the hill and there is a Public Beach in front. The room was clean and Nice With a view and the breakfast was good as well. The Place is inexpensive but bee aware that it is a hostel, not a hotel. Friendly staff.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for a week and had no issues at all. The location is ideal as it is close to the beach and there are regular buses to key attractions from vidigal square. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak great English. The barbecue they hold on a Saturday is great. It is also very...

Helpful and friendly staff, sceptical of location before arrival due to it being a favela but the neighbourhood is very friendly and we felt safe at all times. Also a short walk to the beach and easy to get buses to key attractions! The wifi is fast and the breakfast wa the best we've had in a southamerican hostel so...

Fantastic hostel with warm, welcoming staff and incredible views. Bruno, Fernanda, Shar, and Victoria made my stay here from the start. There are fun in-hostel events such as barbecues and information on guided tours. There is a bit of an uphill hike to the hostel, but it's doable and there are always moto taxis at the bus stop in Vidigal...

We enjoyed our stay in this hostel. The hostel was clean and comfortable although the dorm rooms maximised the space available (very small rooms, bed hitting all 3 walls!) but the rooms were nicely decorated! Also the stairs are very narrow and difficult to manouvre with a backpack! The hostel is located in the vidigal favella which is a good...

I was a bit reluctant to stay in a favela, but not any more. The hostel is clean, very safe and managed by a great group of people. Also, if your Portugese is as bad as mine, the English speaking staff are a great help. I would recommend vidigalhouse to anyone travelling the Ipanema area. It also has an excellent...

Bruno and staff are lovely, the hostel is in the middle of a favella, it is quite safe and there are plenty of kids playing around outside. The only danger is the boy racer motor taxi. The hostel has a great view of Ipanema and is easy to get to town by bus. The breakfast could be better, a bit...

Myself and a friend stayed in the double room here for 2 nights post the Rio carnival. When we arrived we were made to feel super welcome and the wifi was far faster than anywhere we had been so far. The room was clean, with good air con and the top balcony had a beautiful brow across vidigal and down...
