I didn't stay in this hostel because the security or the doorman ho was there was so rude to me and he didn't even open the door to talk to me saying that I arrived very early (7 am) and that the hostel just opens 8 am. that's a very weird rule because hostels all over the world work 24... More

I stayed in this hostel for ten days and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Kudos to Ed, the manager, for assembling, training and directing his staff in excellence of all aspects of guest comfort and satisfaction. Each employee, at all levels, greeted me by name from the second day on! A great location near Posto 3, centrally located in Copacabana. Dorm... More

The staff were very willing to help and offer good advice about getting around the city and good places to go. The location is great too, it's right in the Copacabana district and is only a short walk to both the beach and a metro station.

I've stayed in this hostel last november for 2 nights. Staff were great but there was not water for the 2 days of my stay. At the end I dicided to check-out. Rooms were OK but very noice.. I would recommend this place just is you have an ajusted budget otherwise, stay in another place

The furniture and building are kind of old. Good staff, nice and helpful. The localization of it is very good, in the main part of Copacabana neighborhood and very close to the beach (2 blocks). Not expensive at all.

I stayed there at the end of March 2016. It's easy to access from both airports, with the bus from GIG or bus/metro from SDU (at that time it was 16 reais with the bus (blue, Executivo), it takes about 1,5-2 hours). The hostel also has a shuttle for 25 reais (it took me an hour to get to GIG,... More

I passed by this hostel several times while staying at others not as well located as Chelagarto. I would always see happy travelers sitting outside talking, eating and drinking. One day I stopped in to see how much it would be to stay in a nicer looking hostel than the ones I had been in. Turns out is was cheaper.... More

Short storey: Do not stay here. Too expensive for what you get. If it was half the price it would be worth it. Long Storey: Pros - Staff: Enrique, Jessica, and the other girl with the trainee badge thank you for being so friendly and at least acting like you cared about any problems that arose or questions that I... This hostel is in the best location you´ll find... It´s walking distance to the amazing Copacabana beach, the metro, buses, restaurants, sugarloaf and Jesus. For Carnival it was perfect! Its safe, good security, always busy with a great group of other travellers so you´ll always make friends. Rooms vary but always clean with good aircon. But really it is the... More

The only two good things about this hostel are the staff and location. The staff are some of the best hostel staff I have experienced in south america. It has no "chill" area and the WiFi barely works. The shower is in the same place as the toilet and are never hot. There is no ventilation and as such it... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
