Good location for downtown and close to Metro. Basic hotel but clean and for the price is pretty good. The morning breakfast is standard fare, fruit, cold cuts, bread, juice & scrambled eggs all included. Many homeless people sleeping everywhere and any where but they don't hassle you. There are lots of restaurants around also. It can be a little... More

Right in the middle of Downtown Rio. Although difficult to find as it is situated on a narrow street where our taxi couldn't go. Very unimpressive at first. Reception doesn't understand a word of English. The Manager had to come out for our check-in. The lift is an old model and makes a lot of noise while travelling. The rooms are... More

I stayed here in January 2014 during my trio to Rio. It is a nice reasonable place to stay in Rio compared to other beach front hotels. It has very friendly staff and they are very helpful. I got all my tours arranged through the hotel staff. They also provided me good guidance about the city regarding what to do... More

Stayed here for over a week during the world cup. While not in the main tourist areas of Rio, Copacabana is an easy 10 minute bus ride away, and there is also a subway stop nearby. Lapa is also walking distance away. RIght outside the hotel there are several eating options, plenty of bbq'd meats, rice, bean stew, chips and... More

In town for the World Cup final. The staff was super friendly and more than willing to give advice and recommendations. The breakfast was wonderful. Near a subway stop and large bus depot. Downtown with plenty of eating options and walking distance to clubs and nightlife. The wifi was consistent enough to make me happy but it did go in... More

Arriving late at night, you walk down a lane way past homeless people sleeping on the pavement. When you get to the Hotel, the staff couldn't be bothered to acknowledge you. Once in your room, you realise the homeless moved out so the hotel can rip off World Cup visitors with dirty filly smelly rooms. Had to roll up my... More

Stayed here for the world cup, as this was one of the affordable left over hotels in town. Hotel is old and not renovated. Windows have an opening at the top which leaves the noise in from neighbourhood. Yes the breakfast is better than the room, but is it good? Don't think so. A lot of homeless sleep in the... More

We stayed here during world cup. Location is great as in centre of Rio so can get to brilliant nightlife area whilst having easy access to metro for beaches. The staff are so helpful. I can't praise them enough. They spoke a little English and couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of fresh fruit

Good quality hotel with easy access to Metro. Staff are fantastic. Spacious room with very good air-con. Great breakfast with lost of variety to get the day started well. Very good WiFi. Can be a little noisy outside on a Friday night but this is Rio! Restaurants close by with lots of variety of food and walking distance to Lapa... More

I stayed here for five days - would have left early if not for the prepaid reservation over the World Cup period (red flag: they also make you sign a statement about not checking out early when you check in). Of all the various staff we encountered during our stay, about 10% could be bothered to acknowledge guests, maybe 5%... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
