I have being at the hotel for about 4 months in a business trip. Even with all Pandemic issue I have enjoyed my stay here. Location si the best, just in front of the sea, you have seats, shade and towels from the hotel. People is very friendly, always clean and all precautions versus COVID are followed, alcohol gel everywhere mask needed to be in the hotel. Gym is absolutely complete, the only improvement may be at the bar in floor 30, it’s nice place with amazing view but sometimes is not the best service.
IIf you want to know any city you have to find a local professional concierge... In fact, we have been so lucky because we were visiting the wonderful city of Rio de janeiro and we had the best options to visit the city like restaurants, tours, shoppings ... just because of JEAN, the CONCIERGE. We visited the historical center of the city and many attractions sites and buildings. But the most fascinating thing was the love and the advices that Jean gave to us. He really surprised us with his education and historical information’s that he had about every corner of the city We visited the most famous neighborhoods of RIO because of our special concierge. Thank you very much, Jean!!! You were the best concierge ever!
I’ll start with the positives. When you first enter the hotel you are greeted with friendly staff who speak very good English. Something I definitely needed. They helped you with your bags and showed you to your room. The room it self was very clean and had a great view. I found the air conditioning worked great there was no funky smells . Now when I visited covid was bad down there and a lot of restrictions were in place. The staff was so kind to keep us informed they even walked across the street to inform us the beach was closed so that nobody would give us any issues. Now my only issues with the room was I had a lot of maintenance issues. Bathroom sink was constantly clogging and the large glass door was very hard to open and close . The closets were jammed as well. After going to the front desk a few times they did finally address all of the issues. The food that was at the pool deck area was poor. I found the food to always be over cooked or the risotto to be under cooked. I found the food at the beach to be better prepared. Also the lobby could use some updating. Seeing lights that were burnt out all week is a turn off and dated furniture . …
Staff with us done above and beyond and made this hotel go from a 2 to a 3 rating for me. The hotel itself is in a great location but unfortunately just seemed a bit run down. Our room smelled of damp and the breakfast situation is unbelievable. Literally 30 people queuing up to eat. If I'm being honest, I wouldn't stay on Copacabana again, I think next time we would stay in Leblon or ipanema.
Stayed for 4 nights plus 1 separate night whilst travelling around Brazil last year. The hotel staff were great, English was well spoken and service was superb. The breakfast offering was exceptional, a great variety of cooked food, continental, fruits and pastry’s available. Rooms were comfortable and the views over Copacabana were great should you pay for a sea view. The only things I would comment on, the hotel caters for western tourists looking for western styled activities and restaurants. We were recommended the Fogo de Chao restaurant by the concierge and upon returning to the U.K. realised this was a chain with a branch in Brighton. Would have been nicer to have a more authentic Rio food experience. In addition, they do not recommend Favella tours so we had to source one online. Finally, we booked a transfer from the hotel to Abraao on Ilha Grande. The price was fair, a little more than what we paid to get back, but the mini bus ride from Rio was extremely uncomfortable. The seats were worn and the bus was full. Instead, I would recommend getting a coach from the station in Centro and then trying to get a boat from Agra dos Reis (speak to your accommodation in Ilha Grande for help with this). Even with a taxi from the bus station, this worked out a few pounds cheaper (only £5 per person) but the coach was significantly more comfortable. Would definitely stay again but maybe only for 1 night after landing in Rio. …
