Amazing experience. Wonderful location, fantastic pool and semi-private beach. Great breakfast buffet. Excellent service. Was a perfect base for our family of four w two young kids to explore Rio for 4 days. Close enough to the city to be accessible to everything, but in a spot that feels like you are at a resort. One of our best hotel experiences in recent memory. Great value for money to boot. Highly recommend.

Fantastic place, beautiful setting and great ocean and city views from room and pool area. Ar breakfast all staff were great, all speaking English. Special thank's to mr. Paulo who served me at the breakfast table: making me tea with herbs and honey to cure my cold and sore throat. Thank you Paulo.

Arrived at this hotel due to its alleged location in Leblan, and to our surprise that is not where it is. It is situated directly under the favela vidigal, and there is not a business nor restaraunt in sight, making it so there is nothing in walking distance of this hotel. Due to my gold status, we were upgraded to a "better" room. This room had a putrid damp smell, and the vent was entirely engulfed by black mold. The mold sprawled onto paintings, walls, and anywhere else it could make its way to. I immidiately contacted the front desk, as now this was not just a customer service concern, but a health one. They then changed our room; the damp smell remained, there were chipped cups, and appalling dirty linen. We ordered room service, and they got our orders wrong and mixed it with another room's. In a nation known for its steak they still managed to transform it into an inedible slab impossible to cut into. Most of the front desk was deliberately ignorant and barely acknowledged me. The singular positive experience in this "hotel" was that they let us have a relatively late checkout due to a delay in our flight, and for that i am grateful. Otherwise, if youre looking for a nice place to stay and eat some good steak, i suggest setting your GPS to Fogo De Chao which is a Brazilian steakhouse in America that foregoes the 11 hour flight. I was so deeply disappointed in this stay that i cancelled my credit card accociated with the hotel chain.

This is the place for peace, beauty and fantastic service. A special shout out to our breakfast servers on the 26th floor. Diego, Mauricio and Porto, you helped us start each day feeling at home but with better, more delicious food and no dishes. Obrigada!!!

This Resort is very dated. Torn sheets, stained carpets & dining chairs. The side chair in our room was horrible, faded & ripped. Bonvoy Lounge was closed, which they did not tell us when we booked & paid for it. “Happy Hour” was in a Conference Room which was freezing cold during our entire stay. The Nespresso machine there which was supposed to be available 24 hours but was out of either coffee, water or milk. No staff attending to it. Fridges for water bottles were old & very dirty. A surprise $15 US a day resort fee was to pay for internet, access to tennis courts etc. Three tennis courts on site but only one available at a time for the resort fee. Had to pay to use the empty ones. Getting the shower to a temperature below scalding was a daily challenge. Do not recommend this place, it needs upgrading & better service. Heard other guests say it has gone downhill since the Marriott takeover & they won’t be back. On guest said he wouldn’t eat there. We found food very good. Very long delay at check in. We weren’t given cards to exchange for pool towels so had to line up again, no apologies. Asked concierge about a restaurant in Leblon. Was told to look it up, no offer of assistance with booking a table. Easter Brunch was very good. Shuttle to Leblon Shopping very handy. This hotel is 40 minute walk to Ipanema Beach. Take the shuttle & walk from Shopping Mall.

Arrived at this hotel and was greeted warmly by the staff, the check in desk was a quick process however I did have to wait some hours before checking in as no early check in service offered…. I went to the Lobby bar and bought myself a coffee and a toasted sandwich which was good. Room was dated and tiered located on the 20th floor. The bathroom shower curtain looked as if it had a fight with something and lost so badly hung up, the bathroom door didn’t shut as was warped and the door handle was falling apart. The chair in the room had a shredded bottom. There was one thing that really concerned me there was a door which was located by the balcony side and where a luggage stand had been placed, the door was easily opened with two turn nobs and actually lead to a room next door, I am a woman travelling alone in what was described as a 5star hotel and paid full price for this accommodation which really wasn’t great! There has been different parties in the adjacent room some very noisy shouting going on. On the plus side I had a tiny balcony which I had a wonderful view of the sea, the mountains and the front of the hotel. The staff are very helpful and the swimming pool was good but you need to get a sun lounger early as by 11am they are all taken up. Food was good and breakfast was well worth it as great selection of hot and cold food juices and hot drinks.

What a great hotel in Rio. Right on the beach, rooms with a view of the ocean. Very nice pool area that leads to the beach. Friendly help everywhere. Wonderful breakfast and numerous excellent restaurants right on site. You won’t go wrong by choosing this hotel in Rio.

The pool scene here is exceptional. The pool is kept at a really warm (and wonderful) temperature and the service is wonderful. There are plenty of drink options and I thought the prices were reasonable. In the afternoons they set up outdoor cooking with skewers, veggies, and pastries. There is also ice cream that our children adored. The beach is nearby and lovely. Such a great vibe. No over-powering vendors, but still public, so you get a real experience. Great waves. We liked the location too. We had no trouble walking to Leblon for dinner. The Leblon restaurants were pleasant and the shopping was delightful. The restaurants at the hotel were nice too. Our favorite was certainly the pool bar and outdoor BBQ. Bene for breakfast was fine, but we really LOVED the room service in the morning. It came super fast - like 10 minutes! and included a generous bread basket with jellies and butter. We liked having plenty of coffee, and again, we thought the price was very reasonable. Our kids were older (8 and 11), but still enjoyed the kids club - especially later in the week when we needed to care for our sunburns. The concierge really took care of us and set us up with a group to attend a football match. It might have been expensive, but it was worth it. They picked up us in an air-conditioned bus, walked us to our seats, walked us back to the bus and we felt safe the whole time. It was definitely a highlight of our trip.

Sheraton Grande is a wonderful enclave close to the hustle and bustle of Rio. A first class experience. The hotel sits on an isolated beach on away from the hoards of beach goers on Copacabana or Leblon. The hotel has several food outlets serving international cuisine(French, Italian, Brazilian BBQ)as well as a delicious breakfast buffet with a wide selection. My wife had a minor medical issue and the hotel nurse and translator were very helpful. They even sent up a complementary fruit plate and coconut water to help in the recovery. We must also give kudos to the concierge staff, in particular Emmanuel who set us up with a last minute reservation at the perfect Micheline recommended steak restaurant. Thank you Sheraton Grand Rio for an unforgettable experience!

Thought it was going to be great, but disappointments soon followed. We checked in and our room wasn't ready. The man at the front desk said he'd notify us "immediately" when the room was ready. Since we had been on airplanes and in airports for almost 24 hours, we desperately wanted in our room for a shower and nap. He never texted us and we finally stopped another person who said she would check on it, it had been clean for some time. Not a good start. We took a shower, a little nap and found our friends for some food. Breakfast fare is OK, eggs were bad though, but the breakfast staff was amazing and friendly. On the second day after a tour, we went and ate at the steakhouse, very good and then the pool. The pool in the very back was not being used and was much quieter than the main pool, so we went there. However there were dirty dishes and half eaten food all around the chairs that someone left and it attracted a ton of flies. We informed three different employees but it was almost an hour and fifteen minutes before anyone cleaned all that up. Very disappointing for a nice Sheraton property. Plus, last night, my wife woke up to go to the restroom, turned on a light and a roach was crawling across the floor. Picture included. Nows she's scared the are in our suitcases left open on the floor and that we'll take them on the ship we're boarding tomorrow. On the third day, we came back from a very long day of touring and needed go to our room for bathroom breaks and showers, but we had no water! We called the front desk and they said it may be late tonight before we can have any water. My wife said she had to get ready for dinner and a shower, where could she go? They told her to go to the spa on the 4th floor and she rushed out. When she got back, I said I'd go, but the spa closed at 5 and I called the desk and asked for some sort of accommodation for this ridiculous incident. Our friends room had water, other people on our floor had water, but not our room or a few others on our side of the hall. They finally brought me a key to the room across the hall to use until ours was done. I used the showers and all there. This is just not what I expected from a nice Sheraton hotel in the Marriott Group. But I will give them two stars for at least listening to me and eventually doing what should have been done immediately. I'm sure I could have come on another date and maybe given them four or five stars and that these incidents may not have happened then, but I can only report what happened on this particular stay.
