I was visiting for 2 days and one night at this small beach Backpackers in Rio. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are usually tight because a lot of beds in 6/8 dorms. Besides the suburb is a very quiet area. Cleanliness could be a bit better but it's an old house and when the rooms are full... More

Dorms are full of bedbugs ans nobody seems to care, our backpacks were completely full of it, it was really difficult to get rid of it. The hostel have a good geographic situation and is preaty cheap, but then again beware of the bedbugs

This hostel looked so great in the picture, description and high rating... and it was cheap. And as far as to the dorm bedroom it was nice. But the dorm I stayed in was horrible, the mattresseses was so old and worn that I wonder what else lives in there... And the pillow, I wouldn't use if I got payed...... More

Stayed at this hostel for a couple of weeks so far, really chilled and relaxing atmosphere. The staff are really helpful and friendly they helped us a lot planning our routes for different day trips. The hostel itself is clean and comfortable to stay in with warm showers- don't find that in many hostels travelling! The location of the hostel... More

I came to this hostel as a backpacker, The name says it backpackers hostel, Why two stars... The first ten meters are really nice and beautiful it looks modern like as you see on the pictures, but after you past that ten meters going upstairs it's just an old hostel with a lot of tiny bunkbeds unsafe for at least... For the price this is definitely the hostel to choose on a budget, though make sure you always book through hostel-world as the rates are cheaper than booking at reception- even if you're extending, go back online to book up!!! The hostel has everything you need: great location to metro and supermarkets, some good eats around too! It's walking distance... More

Special thanks to Sr Juan for his patience & tireless assistane with my malfunctioning atm card and his terrific public transportation instructions. Hostel has terrific (botafogo) location for all Rio highlights. Thanks especially for providing cheese at breakfast in a not vegetarian oriented city

One of the worst hostels I have stayed in. They have terrible triple bunk beds, with 15 people to a tiny room. No space for luggage, and no lockers or power outlets. The breakfast was terrible, just bread, baloney, jam and some sort of cake. The only good thing was the staff was nice and helpful. For $5 reaped more... More

Dear Becky, Your review is completely misleading. Our bunkbeds are brand new and breakfast is very good with a lot of options. It is funny that you have reviewed only our hostel and seem to have so much experience with other hostels services in Rio. Next time do not hesitate to spend more money, then. Originally was going to stay for 1 week but have ended up staying for 2 weeks! Love this hostel. The staff are the best and the atmosphere is one of the friendliest I've encountered in over a year of travelling. I'm on my second visit and will come back for a third. Thanks for a great stay guys!

Staying in Botafogo

Neighborhood Profile
Botafogo
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night. Casa Daros, an art museum that showcases amazing artists from Latin America, is a must see located in a historical building in Botafogo.
