My wife and I stayed at the Arena Copacabana in late July 2011. The staff (Aldo, Dark, Marcio and Raphael) are exceptional. They gave us the complete red carpet treatment. They were very courteous and hospitable. They gave us an early check-in at 6:00 am and late check out at 4:00 pm and very informative about the city. The location...

While there are no bargains in Copacabana this is about as close as it gets. Spotless new amenities, a terrific breakfast buffet, flawlessly helpful staff, and fabulous views from the rooms. It is located in the middle of Copacabana beach, near Posto 3, not far from the famous Palace Hotel. There is a small rooftop pool that few use, but...

We did a lot of research before we booked this hotel, and were extremely pleased when we arrived. Both of the gentlemen at the front desk spoke English very well, and got us started. The first room we had was a lateral ocean view ('partial view'). It was great, except the television didn't work. We let the front desk know...

Not cheap, but wirth it. Great windows with a view on Copacabana. Good bed, clean room, nice shower box, with very good pressure. Flatscreen tv, Only itch, very minor, only one electricity outlet in the room, had to use the other one in the bathroom to recharge my camera. Staff was very helpful, called a taxi a 4.30 am and...

We cheked into this hotel for three nights. The hotel has a problem that if tenants put their key card the wrong way into the switch that turns on electricity, it will cause a breaker to continuously fire. This is very noisy. I didn't sleep for two nights and the hotel did little to take care of the problem. The...

To be frank, I find it difficult to understand what the many positive comments are about. I stayed at this hotel last weekend, and was not very impressed. Check-in is very matter-of-fact, to the point of slightly rude and service throughout the hotel is usually not polite. For example, at the breakfast, you can't use half of the space because...

After a disastrous start to our Rio trip (make sure you avoid the Royalty Copacabana Hotel) we booked the Arena the day before we checked in. The staff were really helpful. The best thing about this hotel is the location overlooking Copacabana Beach, it really is amazing. The photograph opportunities from the roof top pool and terrace make the stay...

Our trip to Brazil had a very rocky start. Our travel agency failed to arrange our airport transfer and had made a reservation at this hotel for us, but had failed to pass our payment on to them. The front desk, Aldo in particular, were extremely helpful and accommodating. They let us check in and agreed to battle on our...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
