The location is very good, the hosts are very nice, and the caipirinhas excellent! The house is in a private, secured and quiet street, near to the beach (five minutes walking). The room is confortable and clean. Very good stay!

Rio de Janeiro is a very nice place to visit yet staying at Michel made our experience even nicer. The location is very strategic: in Copacabana and very close to Ipanema. Michel is a very generous and friendly person. He loves people and always ready to do whatever he can to help and make others' stay more joyful. We quickly...

First thing first : If you are not quite sure what the difference between a guest house and a hotel might be, then this place is probably not for you. Chez Michel is an amazing place for whoever wishes to meet other travelers, but feels maybe a bit too old for a regular youth hostel. It is great for friends,...

We arrived to Chez Michel and the owner himself greeted us and was the most rude person I have ever come across. His first question was if we had read all the rules of the hostel and when we said we hadn't received them from our travel agent he responded by saying; -"This is why i never allow English guests."...

Ok, first the positive: It is well placed in Rio. The negative: all the rest. If you are interested in just a bed (size kid) with sheets in a closet, then this is the place for you. Rest assured, the kid´s type sheets are, so it seems clean. You cannot say the same of the quilt which is dirty andmust...

We have been traveling for 5 weeks through LatAm and stayed in many places but this was by far the biggest dissapointment. We got the place recommended by a friendly French (!) couple. First of all when we arrived we had the impression that the French owner (Michel) was drunk. He asked us if we were familiair with the rules...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighborhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
