The pousada is very well located, only 2 blocks away from the historical centre. The room was clean, the matress was confortable and the the size of the rooms are big. Breakfast is good. And everyone is very helpful and friendly.

I have chosen Pousada Fortaleza because of its location (5 min walk from historic downtown) and price that was "cheap" comparing to other inns. It wasn't worth it. The Inn is indeed close to Paraty downtown, but the surroundings are terrible in a very ugly part of the town. I recommend paying a little more in a best located inn or picking a place that is not that close to downtown (although everything is kinda close since it's a small town), but in a prettier area - like Jabaquara. Room cleaning also wasn't good, linen was old with stains and room smelled like mold. Really do not recommend staying at Pousada Fortaleza.

The staff membres are the worst. Very rude people that made our stay there horrible!! Breakfast with industrial orange juice... A shame because the place is very cute! Only one piece of advice : dont go there!!

I wasn't sure what to expect of this place but quite liked it.  The building itself is very cool and has lots of character.  The rooms are very simple, ours was large and a bit run down but had a comfortable bed and hot water.  It was also cleaned beautifully every day, the bed was made up and we were given clean towels. Breakfast was good, lots of fruit, cakes and rolls with bread and cheese. The reception staff are pretty miserable and unhelpful but if you go expecting that then you won't be disappointed.  The breakfast dude was friendly so that was good. Location was great, minutes walk from the old town. I would stay here again if the price was right.  There was also free wi-fi available on the room.

We stayed here for two nights, on our way to Rio From Florianopolis. Paraty is a beautiful colonial town with stunning beaches only a bus ride away. (The town beaches are not so great) We stayed at this hotel because we liked the look of the farm house styled buildings, and the fact that the accommodation was reasonably priced. Although there had been mixed reviews online, the hotels charm won us over. Unfortunately, charm is not enough to cover us shockingly poor service and rude staff. On my first day I lost connection with the WiFi and went to reception to see if it could be rebooted, the girl on the desk actually just srugged her sholders, grunted and walked off to finish her breakfast. She is rude and unhelpful. I'm yet to see a staff member smile here!! On the last day, we had to be up early and catch our bus to Rio, no breakfast was available at 7:30, and the staff members began to talk about us and laugh between themselves at the fact we had decided to sit and wait for our breakfast. Mainly because it was the only place with a good wifi connection. I'm not sure if it really takes 45 minutes to slice fruit and put bread rolls onto a plate, but service is certainly not a strong point here.. Great accommodation for a short stay, but avoid if you are staying longer than 2 nights.
