The Discovery Coast is a very special part of the world. For an Australian used to good beaches, it took me a while to fully comprehend my environment. Trancoso is a mix of rustic and refined and this hotel captures that perfectly. The accommodations are generous, the staff welcoming and the atmosphere is totally relaxing. The garden setting is beautiful... More

Stayed here recently as part of a tour heading to Rio and I thought the whole complex was perfectly acceptable. The appearance and the grounds are very pleasant halfway up a hill away from the main streets in Vila do Abraao. I had a chalet room for two nights which was very small but perfectly fine. The bed was very... More

We just returned from staying at this well kept and friendly establishment, we rented one of the lovely chalet. We really liked the traditional Brazilian breakfast every morning. The grounds are well kept and maintained and it is surrounded by lovely tropical landscaping. The mosquitos were a nuisance on the island so we recommend that you bring along some quality... More

Overall I liked this hotel once my room was switched. The grounds are very cute and it has a quaint, colonial feeling to the place. My only complaint, however, was the first room they gave me. If they give you room number 05 (I'm pretty sure that was the number, on the main floor behind the office) run for the... More

We decided to go to Ilha Grande for our anniversary. From photos and reviews it seemed a perfect place with everything we like - nature, trails, beaches, rain, waterfall. We took a bus from Rio to Angra, it is only few hours trip with one stop. From Angra bus station just take the taxi to the docks where the ferry... More

We had a cabin opposite the breakfast room. Small, cute, everything worked well. Breakfast was great, especially the fresh mango. Coffee time at 5pm was a nice treat after hiking and the beach. I learned our hostess' name, Kika, and she became so happy.

We stayed 2 nights, 2 rooms. #9 & #10 upstairs in the house. A/C in both rooms worked great. Clean place in great standard. Breakfast is fruit, breads and cakes. Some eggs and coffee/tea/fresh juice as well. Evening coffee at 5. Two pools 4x6 and a smaller kiddie pool. Nicely located away from the evening sounds in town but close... More

Beautiful setting, the cabins and rooms are clean and exactly what you need. The location is good, away from the main street so there is no noise in the evenings. The level of cleanliness for the grounds and communal areas is really high with the staff working hard throughout the day. The breakfast is good and the afternoon tea and... More

Cabins are very basic, but clean, come with a patio and a hammock - nice to relax. Shower is OK too with decent enough water pressure. Breakfast is ample and nice and they offer tea/coffee/sweets for free every afternoon. The staff is helpful and friendly. WiFi doesn't work in the cabins at all and is really only okayish in the... You're probably staying here as part of a G-Adventures tour. The place looks nice from the outside but the rooms are quite dated. There is no WiFi outside of the breakfast hut. If more than two people are using the WiFi, it is going down. Breakfast is acceptable for a free breakfast. What isn't consumed is used for tea in... More
