Can't really review as just cancelled our Xmas/New year booking on us via email with no explanation other than 'error' and 'can not accommodate'. We made the booking in March and now in nearly Nov are left scratching around for a place to stay over Xmas which as you will appreciate is very difficult. Very disappointing & in professional. Watch out !
The hotel is small, warm and inviting, just a few minutes stroll form the ferry landing in Abraao. We were particularly impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. Priscilla on Reception was excellent, spoke fluent English and nothing was too much trouble even our requests for help to retrieve our lost luggage didn't phase her!! Rooms were kept tidy and provided everything we needed for our stay. Buffet breakfast provided an honest start to the day and the location in the middle of town meant everything was within walking distance but the room was quiet and sleep uninterrupted by night time noise.
The local is clean and confortable. The great advantage of the Pousada is its location very close to the harbor. The breakfast is good. The sevice is good as well. they have wifi but it was not running well.
Room was fine. Quite basic but very clean. Staff weren’t really that friendly. They didn’t show any interest in our stay. Breakfast was good. A nice selection of fruit, meats, cheeses and bread. Felt this Pousada was way over priced for what they were offering. They also sting you with a “service charge” of 5% on checkout. Certainly a first for me and it left a bad taste. I’m certain there are better Pousadas in Ilha Grande for a more reasonable price.
Casa Blanca is a great place to stay in Ilha Grande. Placed in one of the best sites in the island, nearby stores, markets and bars. It have a great breakfast and you will feel home. It's a simple but cozy place, for a fare price.
The Pousada Casablanca just scrapes into the average band because its location is excellent, right in the centre and an easy walk from the ferry pier. The street is also about as quiet as it’s going to get downtown and has some useful shops on it. The Pousada itself is frankly disappointing for the room rates. The bedrooms are basic and the balcony not really worthy of the name. If you’re only staying on the island a night or two it’s OK to stay here, but if you’re planning to come over for a longer more relaxing stay I’d look elsewhere.
Casablanca is located in "town" so it's close to everything, but on one of the quietest corners of town. Still, if you want absolute quiet in your room (and darkness) be sure to request a room that doesn't face the "street". The staff was very friendly and always acted happy that I was there. Everybody spoke at least some English, and there was always at least one person working that was fluent if complicated questions came up. The room was very pretty and clean. Not huge, but with enough room to walk around, get to the desk, etc. When I first checked in, the electric power and internet were very week, but that was an entire island problem, just just Casablanca. Once that went away, I had no issues with power, internet. Always had plenty of hot water. Breakfast was good and filling. We were given a platter of bread, fruit, meat/cheese slices and there was a table with serve yourself deserts and something special each day (eggs, Brazilian sausage, etc). Casablanca seems to fit in a nice niche... nicer and more upscale than the dozen of backpacker places, but more convenient and cheaper than the few luxury places on the island.…
This is a perfect place to stay in paradise. The location is excellent, right in the main town but just enough away from the main road that it's quiet. The staff is very sweet and helpful. Really good breakfast. Rooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable. No hot water in the shower but it was so hot outside I didn't mind. Air conditioning and fan in the room. Wifi was available, although it went in and out a few times. Overall a really great place to stay.
Tiny room, electricity in bathroom not working, bed lamp not working, hair dryer not working in room b/c too much power for wiring in room at $250/ night? Safe is advertised but will not hold more than a wallet, the pictured and described "garden" is nothing more than a set of chairs right next to the hotel. Could be acceptable at $80/ night but not at the rates charged. Room with "views " at extra charge offers views onto another roof top. Breakfast poor - far from the pictured one. Disappointing!
Stayed here for one night, really good value for money. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was very good. Rooms are small but very well furnished and comfortable with a nice little balcony with a view. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is the air con wasn't working in the room but we didn't try to get it fixed as it wasn't too warm at the time. Wifi is available down at reception but not in the rooms which was not an issue.
