After an absence of five years, I revisited Buzios, RJ, Brasil, again staying at Pousada Hibiscus Beach. Besides being warmly welcomed by old friends Kevan Prior and Alicia Elkin, you are made to feel 'at home' immediately.. The pousada is in an excellent location, near to Joao Fernandes beach, and a pleasant 20-minute stroll into Buzios CBD, through Ossos and along Orla Bardot. The staff are extremely helpful, make you feel welcome. The chalet-type accommodation is bright, cheerful and each chalet has a magnificent view overlooking the nearby beach, some 300 metres distant. This was my eighth visit to Pousada Hibiscus Beach; certainly not the last. Highly recommended. Reviewers may contact me if further information is required.

Hi,I recently stayed at the Pousada Hibiscus Beach, where I have been many times before. It is one of only a few places in Buzios with separate bungalows that are spread out on a hillside amidst the exuberant vegetation. All of them have ocean views either from the terrace or the comfortable beds. There is a larger room for families that is closest to the pool. With the shutters open there is plenty of light and with them closed the room is dark, perfect for sleeping in.Also for those of you who may have stayed out a bit late, breakfast is served until 10:30It is about a two minute walk to the beach. The inside decor is tropical, but low key.The manager and the cook have been there since I started visiting-2001.If you see the owners perhaps you can chat with them about some of their favorite places-currently they are keen on Colombia and Viet Nam

I cannot stress enough how amazing our stay at Pousada Hibiscus Beach was for our honeymoon in December 2018. The Pousada itself is at the top of the hill on a cul-de-sac facing the ocean, so it's quiet and peaceful, and the views are amazing. What's more, you literally walk just a block and a half to one of the best beaches in Buzios, Joao Fernandez beach. Kevan (English) and Alicia (Argentinian) are the amazing couple that run this pousada. They are some of the most travelled people I have met and are attentive to every last detail at their own pousada. The cabins are comfy, clean, with high ceilings with wooden beams and absolutely charming. They have modern TVs with cable TV and fridges, air conditioning, and ceiling fans, and an amazing little terrace which in our case had a magnificent view of the ocean. The pousada is a short walk away from the Orla Bardot and Rua das Pedras. If you are looking to stay for just a few days, or even for a longer period, and want some quality time to relax, your place is Hibiscus Beach. I will return here, without a doubt.

We were 5 girlfriends from Buenos Aires looking for a relaxed, beachy and fun adventure. We definitely found all this at Buzios. Lovely, different beaches to choose from, all walking distance from the pousada. The pousada is certainly relaxing, with its rustic pretty decorations and well positioned on the slope of a very green "morro" which means you get a wonderful view of the sea from any balcony. It is very well located between beaches and allows you to walk to and back from the Rua das Pedras village, full of interesting shops and diverse restaurants. We did lots of shopping to our surprise!! Breakfast at Hibiscus was delicious... missing the mango and papaya already

If you are coming from a stay in Rio,this could be the perfect place to relax. The hillside bungalows are at the end of a short road so it is very quiet. There are maybe 14 individual units each separated from the others by vegetation that hummingbirds are drawn to.Inside, you will find the high, airy ceilings that Buzios architecture is noted for.The old time wooden shutters with lace curtains are charming. The double doors open onto a veranda with great ocean views. You can also just be on the large, comfortable bed and see the ocean or watch one of the hundred or so channels on the new large screen tvs the owners have recently bought. The bathroom is bright with a roomy glass encased shower. The breakfast is very good and the dining area is a delight to sit in.There is plenty of shade by the pool much of it provided by the brilliant reds of the flamboyant trees that were in bloom when I was there in December. If you see the owners ,who live on the property, ask them about Argentina, where one owner is from,or talk about world travels. The beach is a few minutes walk away, but there are many kinds of beaches in Buzios that are easily reached.Walk about 10 minutes and reach the start of the walkway that leads to the statue that commemerates Brigette Bardot's time in Buzios. This walkway is a fine place to see the sunset and maybe have some fresh seafood or keep strolling and reach the main dining area of Buzios .Sit and watch the world go by.The hotel perfectly complements the slowed down pace of Buzios.
