Our family of 3 thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay here! The grounds are beautiful, the service perfect, the amenities wonderful, and the location cannot be beat! We have stayed at some fabulous properties all over the world, and this one ranked in the top tier. It is a splurge, but to be steps from the falls after the crowds have to leave the park was worth it to us. We ate at the main restaurant, relaxed by the pool, played chess, and had drinks in the bar. All were great. Our room was an end unit with a separate sitting room, and they added an extra bed for our teen son. We are 3 adult-size people, and we never felt cramped. Housekeeping was exceptional, with daily service plus turn down service, so we had ample towels for showering twice a day (it’s very humid here). The shower was great - hot & good pressure. The beds & seating were comfortable. They even gave us a chocolate Easter egg that was very yummy, plus fruit and waters. Don’t hesitate if you can afford it! Note that I had to contact the hotel directly to inquire about a room for 3, but that was painless.

This is an amazing place to stay given the high quality service of the hotel, comfortable rooms, lovely swimming pool, fantastic breakfast, and access to the Iguassu Falls. The latter is the best attribute since staying at the hotel allows guests the option to walk the trails along the falls early in the morning and late afternoon through sunset when the busloads of tourists have departed. The hotel has numerous amenities and offers a broad range of special packages for couples and families. The rooms are relatively large, comfortable with excellent quality beds and pillows, a large shower, and bathrooms with two sinks for couples. The staff are multi-lingual, very helpful, and very knowledgeable. The hotel offers airport pickups although it is less expensive to take a taxi to the national park gate and then ride to the hotel on the hotel shuttle.

The Hotel is in an ideal location providing easy access to Iguazu Falls. You can go anytime and it was especially nice to have access before and after the crowds from outside the park arrived. The service and attention to detail is excellent. We stayed in the Deluxe Falls View room which provided a 30% discount on the 2nd falls view room, free continental breakfast and1 free falls view lawn picnic While the price was high it was a good value for the outstanding quality, service and location.

The hotel is now owned by a large corporation and operates under its hotel chain "Belmond". Unfortunately, "Belmond" buys hotel attractions worldwide and then doubles the tariffs, the location of the hotels, the service, etc. but remains the same...
The hotel is an icon and anyone coming to Iguazu should stay there if financially possible as the early morning walks to the falls are a wonderful contemplative experience.
Unfortunately, “Belmond” takes advantage of this and the rates are extremely high, but the return is not quite right.
Communication with the concierge before arrival is poor, you often don't get a response to the email for spa bookings etc.
When you arrive, everything from the guest's master data has to be entered into a tablet, but the hotel already knows a lot of it and should enter this itself in advance!
If you ask about the waterfalls, you could be offered a raincoat, that would be very attentive, there is a lack of empathy.
I waited five minutes at the bar on the terrace, no waiter came, so I left again.
In the bathroom there was mold on all sides in the shower between the azulejos, when I complained I was told that this was normal because the shower cannot be ventilated well!
The duvet is far too warm for a hotel in the tropics.
The buffet in the evening by the pool wasn't exciting in terms of the quality of meat etc. They saved on the ingredients and used cheap cuts of beef.
There is no library and no printed daily newspapers.
It's a shame that the rooms are so unnecessarily expensive, so many people can't afford to spend the night in this unique location.
The hotel should therefore invite poor families (for example ten families per year) to stay for three days so that poorer travelers can also get to know this hotel; there are such programs in Europe.
The minibar is free, but is not refilled with beer during a stay. The free minibar was not mentioned in the booking.
The box with the cover was very smeared in the room, it didn't look good.
Very good breakfast, but be careful with the birds, they steal the food from the plate when you're not looking.
Very nice staff in the restaurant and the chambermaids are also extremely friendly and attentive.
It is incomprehensible to me that there's a bottle of vodka at the breakfast buffet and you're asked to mix margheritas. It's not funny, after all, the hotel accommodates children and it doesn't seem to know its job.

Dear Spy06, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent stay at Hotel das Cataratas. We sincerely apologize for any shortcomings in your experience, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Firstly, we want to express our regret that your impression of our brand was not entirely positive. Hotel das Cataratas has been under the administration of Belmond since 2007, and we continuously strive to enhance our services and offerings. Between 2022 and 2023, for example, extensive renovations were carried out, including updates to most rooms, the kids' area, the gym, and the tennis court. We are currently working on refurbishing our restaurants and our lobby. We sincerely apologize if you felt that you did not receive value commensurate with the amount paid. We apologize for any communication lapses and service hiccups you experienced. It is not our standard practice for guests to wait without attention or for emails to go unanswered. We are committed to rectifying these issues to ensure a smoother and more responsive experience for our guests. Regarding the concern about mold, we take this matter seriously. Despite the humid environment, our housekeeping team diligently works to prevent and address any cleanliness issues. We appreciate your bringing this to our attention, and we will reinforce our efforts in this regard. We regret that the bedding did not meet your comfort expectations. We encourage guests to communicate their preferences, and we would have gladly provided alternative options for a more comfortable stay. We appreciate your insights into social initiatives. Hotel das Cataratas is actively involved in supporting local social institutions, providing access to those who may not afford it and contributing financially to various cultural, environmental, and sports programs. Concerning the breakfast offerings, we understand that individual preferences vary. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful year ahead! Best regards, Isabelle Vieira - Assistant to the General Manager

Pros:
Location
Having the park solely for hotel guests in the morning & evening - the reason we chose this hotel over Melia
The hotel is beautiful and immaculate inside & out
The whole hotel smells amazing (this may sound odd but worth a mention!)
Staff are fabulous, everyone was beyond helpful
The staff work super hard, especially those in the restaurants (possibly they have to work too hard as they were rushed off their feet on a few occasions
Transfers from airport & over the border was seamless
Housekeeping keep the rooms spotless - great turndown service too
Concierge very responsive via WhatsApp
The pool staff do a great job keeping everyone happy
Online reservations team were responsive
Good buffet breakfast - plenty of variety
The evening buffet was well priced and had plenty of variety

Cons:
It get super busy around the pool and sometimes it was hard to get a sunbed
We found our room, a junior suite at the front of the hotel noisy - tours coming and going, there was a birthday party directly below our window on the first evening & our neighbours for two of the three nights were really noisy. I’d personally rather have a room at the back of the hotel where it would be quieter
There’s helicopter trip pretty much most of the day from 9 - 5 and this does spoil the peace and quiet somewhat and they fly directly over the hotel
Check that the park isn’t changing it’s opening hours, I had paid for a First Light Experience expected to be able to enjoy the park with only the other hotel guests however the opening hours changed for the day and it opened at 6am, it was still an enjoyable experience but had I been told I would have moved this to another day. The guide was excellent though
If you go on the Moon Walk take a plastic poncho or rain coat, sounds obvious but I was drenched when I returned. My other guide provided a plastic poncho to wear which I recycled to another person in the park

Usually with this many cons I’d rate the hotel lower however its so beautiful here and the staff are so helpful lower than 4 stars seemed unfair

There is a long drive in the hotel shuttle from gate to the hotel. Very friendly check in. We had room 2115 which is a deluxe garden view with extra bed Smaller room for three people but this was made up for by the extensive breakfast and location by the falls which you can access by being in the park when it is closed to guests. The van will bring you out of the park and drop you off at the Helicopter Tours just outside of the park. We walked across the street to Parque das Aves which we LOVED.
When you walk this side of the falls there is bus service at the end of the walk, if you show your room key you may ride the bus back up to the hotel for free. We got to feed adorable little blue and green birds on the outside patio bar. They had heaters and blankets for us while we had a pre-dinner drink . On our last morning just after sunrise there was a magnificent rainbow sitting over the falls just down the steps from the hotel.

We splurged on this hotel so that we could enjoy the falls in the mornings and evenings when the park was closed, and we were not disappointed. The whole experience was incredible. The service here is incredible and the food is excellent. We ate at the bar and the buffet and both were great. The pool is open pretty late so we also got to enjoy swimming after dinner under the stars. The turndown service was a treat-so fun to come back to the room at night!

Stay in the Park 5 star hotel. Hotel managed by Belmont and is a typical luxury hotel for this company. Beautiful classic architecture with manicured lawns. Easy to set up hotel pickup at airport that then takes you directly into the park and to the hotel. Hotel situated overlooking the falls and rooms with a view of the Falls is worth the money. Staff is great, helpful at all times. Restaurants serve breakfast buffet, great selection, overlooking the pool with indoor and outdoor seating. Dinner was also great with broad selection and buffet or ordering options. Classic bar area with veranda overlooking the falls. Tea was ok not extraordinary but good. Tours offered by hotel were great and reasonably priced. Had the same guide, Andre Weber for all the days, pickup and drop off at airport, day trip to Argentina side of falls and morning tour on Brazil side, all well worth the money. The real advantage of staying at the hotel is early morning access before park opens at 9am and after 4pm when everyone else leaves as the park closes. You can walk along the Falls with few other people. It really becomes crowded when the park opens but those hours early and later are great! Easy to take photos. Walk the Brazil side to the end that then takes you to a walk out over the water to the falls edge (bring poncho is you want to stay dry). Then there is an elevator to take you back up to the road that you can easily walk back to the hotel. I would arrange a tour to the Argentina side, quite a different view and crossing the border easy with a guide. Purchase your tickets ahead for the Argentina park and when you cross back to Brazil you pay @$1.00 US. Guide helped us retrieve our bags after they were left off the plane in Atlanta and all the Latham staff helpful in their retrieval having to go back to airport to pick up to avoid further delays. Would stay here again if return to area!

We chose a certain room with a view of the waterfalls, but they upgraded us and the room became even smaller than it was. In general, I don’t recommend paying at this hotel for views of the waterfall at all - it makes no sense. Waterfalls and sunset are barely visible. Just like taking a Picnic with a view of waterfalls and sunset, there is a road nearby, a lot of tourists - a dubious event and a dubious view. It’s better to take a bottle, a couple of glasses and go to the observation deck, yes, there’s a picnic with views, although standing up. The breakfast is excellent with a view of the normal sized pool, quiet, the birds sing like in paradise. The cleanliness of the hotel is 10 points, thank you for that, the service is also excellent.

Stayed for one night to visit the Brazil side of Iguaçu Falls. Perfect location within the National Park, gives crowd free access to the trails and viewpoints after the park closes and before it opens in the morning.Accommodation has extremely comfortable and well equipped air conditioned rooms the provide a welcome respite from the heat and humidity outside. Breakfast was a superb buffet style breakfast with additional a la carts items available, all while seated beside the pool watching the toucans in the trees. Evening meals were a choice of two restaurants, a la cartel or an extensive buffet. In summary an excellent hotel for an overnight stay or longer.

Yes, you can, there's no time limit, just have to be careful. I don't recall seeing any street lighting along the path, and depending on the time of the year, as it could get dark. Enjoy & take you time, it's spectacular!

That’s what we did…it is super easy, just takes a bit of time. We did it multiple times to see the falls on the Argentine side. The driver will bring your passports into the crossing office or you may need to walk in yourself but it’s easy. You do need to allow probably at least an hour to the airport, but the process is simple.

Des-- 1. We had an adapter with us, but did not need. The hotel had one in the suite we had and also had available at the front desk. 2. We had the trip planned for us for both sides of the Falls. We used the services of a private travel agent in Miami. The corporate provider was Abercrombie & Kent and they had provided the local driver + guide. They were great. hope this helps, rag

We had pre arranged transport but there are plenty of taxis. Just make sure you ask the price before you get in and pay in US dollars. You’ll get a better price. The afternoon tea on the front lawn is amazing if you want to book a special occasion treat
