Friendly owners, gorgeous scenery, beautiful and extremely clean accommodations. Just an absolutely wonderful stay. Makes you feel right at home. Close to town so easy to find restaurants and things to do. Loved the donkeys, horses, sheep and dog and cats. Kelly and Mark are great innkeepers!
Our family of 5 stayed with Kelly & Mark for 4 nights for our trip to the Apostle Islands. We stayed in the Northern Lights loft and it was wonderful. There was a kitchenette, living room, deck, bedroom and loft area with a bed and futons. Enough room for everyone. One drawback was that there wasn't much privacy up on the loft as they could hear things going on downstairs if people weren't quiet. There were lots of books and board games to choose from. The cats and dog were a delight! We would definitely come back if we were in the area again!
It was beyond great! The staff are very welcoming and make you feel right at home. The rooms are spacious and cozy. We have been several times and will 100 percent come again. We love the Ashland and Bayfield area and love having a place to come back to every evening that feels like home or just staying in during a rainy day. We LOVE Second Wind Country Inn!!!
My family and I stayed in the lower level of the farmhouse that's part of the inn. We all loved the place! Neat decor, lots of room, and a nice kitchen and dining area. It's a wonderful place to relax, and it's in a great location that's just a bit out of town and not too far from the area's outdoor attractions.
What a wonderful place to stay! My wife and I stayed at the Inn for 3 days and liked it so much that we stopped for another day on our way back from Duluth, MN. The location on farm with no city around was what we looking for-barns,animals and open spaces. The home was lovely and our room during both stays was large clean and well furnished. There was no TV but plenty of books and the great outdoors. Kelly was a wonderful host and a great cook.We enjoyed sharing stories about our families. She had a grandchild born during our visit. She gave us good advice on where to visit and take photos . Fall foliage was spectacular in the surrounding area and so was Little Girls Point in the up of MI(nearby -about 30 miles). Thanks again to Kelly and Mark. We hope to return.
I traveled to Ashland for a family function. Initially I was going to stay in town at one of the few national chain hotels. After getting to town and seeing the sad state of the hotel I moved my reservation to the Second Wind on the recommendation of a family member. I am so glad that I did! While the main Inn is a “newer” log cabin styled home I got a room in the converted old farm house. I loved it and enjoyed seeing the cows across the road in the morning. The donkeys and dog were cute too. I was able to see some of the other rooms. All were nice but I really liked the coziness of the farm house. The inn keeper is a life long local and answered every question I had. I even found out that the farm house was actually the innkeeper’s grandparents’ house. I definitely recommend staying here. The innkeepers are very welcoming. It was nice to be only minutes from town but yet in the country. …
What a beautiful country inn. I was in the area over the winter, house hunting, when my family stayed two nights. It was a winter wonderland dream! From the gorgeous rooms to the beautiful farm. That red barn. Oh my goodness! My daughter woke me the first morning to show me her view she woke up to. Horses in the snow! The food is amazing, I wish I could cook half that well. Very clean and homey. I felt so refreshed staying there while we all know buying a house, in winter mind you, is stressful. I can only imagine how wonderful this beautiful farm B&B is in the summer.
I spent 3 nights at Second Wind Country in. We stayed in the Little Scandinavia farm house. We had the top floor apartment in the farmhouse which was perfect for two of us. Kelly & Mark have gone to great efforts to create a delightful and homely place to stay with lots of personal, and Scandinavian touches. We loved sitting on terrace outside at the end of a busy day exploring. The kitchen was well equipped for catering for ourselves and the home cooked breakfast prepared by Kelly was simply delicious. It was a great base to explore the local area and we drove to Bayfield to explore the islands in Lake Superior from there with ease. The farmhouse is so peaceful and quiet. It was a wonderful rest in the countryside. I’d definitely recommend this as a place to stay.
We stayed in the Little Scandinavia suite in the farmhouse just down from the main inn. It was perfect for us! With a bedroom, bathroom, living room, and kitchen, it felt like home away from home. Kelly provided great tips on places to eat and things to do while in the area. This is a fabulous place to relax and unwind. There are a wide selection of books to read and board games to play. If you start a book and don’t finish, you have option to purchase and take it with you (at a reasonable price!) No tv—WiFi is provided so you can stream shows. About a 30 minute drive to Bayfield. This is an excellent base location for an extended stay. We will definitely go back!
This is such a beautiful place to relax and rejuvenate. The rooms are beautiful and clean, the owners are so wonderful, and their farm is neat to see as well! Loved our stay here and I would more than recommend it to anyone and everyone.
