We booked this 3day/2night tour through Gil's Pantanal Discovery. The whole thing ran like clockwork. We stayed on the farm, Pousada Sao Joao Ecotur. This was really in the middle of nowhere, which is what we wanted. Around a 4 hour minibus drive from Campo Grande, followed by an hour on a rough track with lots of birds to see... More

We did the 3 days - 2 nights Pantanal tour and stayed in the Sâo Joâo fazenda (arranged with Pantanal Discovery). This is located deep in the Pantanal, which gives you all the possibilities to see the beautiful surroundings! Activities are well organised and still give you enough time to relax. Food is good, but expect no variety during your... More

whilst on a 6 week tour with `Journey Latin America` a visit to the Passo de Lontra was suggested as an optional extra. It turned out to be the most fantastic part of the trip with horse riding and fishing included/. An impromptu samba night performed by university students from a research centre down the river was a great way... More

Air conditioning worth the extra for coping with humidity. Meals and restaurant service very good. Tours good especially the river trips. They and other trips including trip to farm and horse riding would have been even better if English speaking guide as per booking arrangement was provided - unfortunately there is no written information for non- Portuguese speakers at this... I've travelled with my family (me, my husband, 3 kids- 5, 5 and 11yo) and my parents. All of them loved the place. The employers are all very helpful people, specially Rosana and Roberto. Rosana is responsible for restaurant and the rooms, and she couldn't to do more to make me feel at home and be pleasure with my kids.... More

Getting to the Pantanal is not so easy since it involves air travel and a long vehicle journey, but it nis indeed worth the effort; the birds of all types, including rheas, toucans, vultures and raptors along the route give dazzling displays, capybara peep out from the reeds, and, sadly, we saw a splendid jaguar dead on the roadside. The... More

I've stayed for 2 nights, the nature and location of the hotel was impressive; although the service was not really satisfactory for the price they asked for. The rooms were not that clean; and putting towels into plastic bags doesn't make them look "super clean/cool". Also, the tour guide we have been together for 2 days was not enjoying what... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. The wildlife activities were good and I saw lots of animals - boat rides, bird watching, canoeing, wildlife drives and forest walks. But the rooms are poor - not even a front aspect window - makes you feel like your in prison. The jail experience is re-inforced by the catering service. They serve practically the... More

This hotel really needs an overhaul in hotel management. First of all, the staff and management there all walk around looking like the world is about to end, no smiles at all and completely rude. They act as if you are putting them out by being there. There is no friendliness or helpfulness and no one seems to really care... More

Passo de lontra was an good way to see the pantanal. I found it difficult to find a reliable lodge recommendation when I was planning a Pantanal trip from Campo Grande, but this place was clean, organized and helpful. Although it is not deep into Pantanal we saw plenty of animals and it is right along the river. We also... More
