Rooms overlooking Cruzero San Francisco pedestrian square. Music, cute shops, great breakfast included. Easy walking distance to churches and my favorite museum, casa do Carnival. The upper city is full of art shops, Oludum drum sessions and two dance & capoera performance groups. Could easily spend a week in Salvador!

After two and half weeks travelling round Brazil with varying degrees of dis/comfort we are thrilled when we are ushered into our large and airy room on the first floor. All are named after Portuguese colonies and we are in Mozambique ( a bit non pc but an excuse for themed decor and colonial furniture). Huge comfy bed, quiet aircon, hot water and a good shower. The hotel itself is an old house of the period and features wooden floors and a grand staircase. The breakfast is served to table and each day has a local speciality in addition to a continental feast Including fresh baked rolls. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the food was good: we had a local starter selection followed by some nicely cooked fish. The bar area is romantic place for a cup of tea or a cocktail and you can watch the world go by. The staff is wonderfully helpful and friendly. Many speak good English which is unusual. Strongly recommend if you are in Salvador.

You can't possibly find a better location than this, in the heart of the historic city, close to everything. A nice plaza in front with nice restaurants and live music and other performances: what an atmosphere! The room are very trendy, large and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and they speak very good English at the reception. The service is impeccable. They make a point of extra room service for early arrivers and late check outs. If you provide the information, they make sure your room is ready at you arrival, even if that is early in the morning, provided of course the room is free! Also when you leave, and the room is not occupied by an arriving customer, you can keep using your room till you leave, free of charge: this is a unique service, very handy in a hot country, when you need a shower several times a day.

I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Bahia. First, the location on the prettiest square of the Pelourinho next to the magnificent Igreja de Sao Francisco. Second, the beautiful, antique-filled design and furnishings of the hotel. And third, the warm service and excellent breakfasts served in the restaurants. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in in recent years!
