Already a lot of comments have been made on the location, we were with a family and i felt area was just not relaxed. Maybe without kids I would have felt differently but still neighboorhood is loud, noisy and feels not safe. The hotel interior is nice and stylish and service was ok however not great for the rates they... More

Comfortable rooms and very attentive staff. The hotel is within walking distance of Pelourinho and of many bars and restaurants. For better or worse, it's not really a touristy neighborhood. That means you get some local flavor, and some anxiety about when it's safe to walk where. Ask the staff.

Excellent service! The hotel is really cozy, the rooms are big and the breakfast is really good. The only negative point is the location... You may spend some money with taxis to go to the beach and other atractions besides Pelourinho.

You feel at home in such a personalized hotel, typical as Salvador is, away from the big city hotels - rooms are OK - service is friendly and good, although the English of the people is not splendid, they are helpful - breakfast OK

This is a lovely little restaurant in the Barra area of Salvador. Totally justifies its top spot rating on trip advisor. The drinks (Sangria) were great and the food was divine. The staff are lovely and try their best even for non Portuguese speakers. The owner was also present and played a great host. All in all we had a... More

The hotel wins over its atmosphere. They've put so much thought into every detail. The staff speaks English fluently and is enormously friendly. The location is not as bad as described in other reviews. It's quite charming there.

We stayed there in December 2013 and would recommend it. The service is great and staff are really attentive. We had a great welcome which included a free home made lemonade and the breakfast was varied and delicious. Our room was small but quite nice and clean. The only bad thing about the hotel is its location in a dodgy... More

This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Salvador. The rooms are all very stylish, breakfast is wonderful as also is the nice atrium where it is served. All staff members are willing to make your stay an unforgettable one and for us they definitely were successful. Although we arrived on a sunday afternoon and the streets were quite... More

Very good small hotel with nice rooms and gorgeous breakfasts! We stayed there for three days, and everything was perfect. The location is OK, but the area is not safe (like so many areas in Salvador), so the free taxi transfer provided was very much appreciated.

A Casa das Portas Velhas is a beautiful, colonial boutique hotel. It is a 3 minute walk from the great historic centre of Salvador, Pelourinho. Unfortunately, it is situated on a slightly dodgy street. All that means is that from 6pm onwards, we took taxis to and from the hotel. During the day, we walked without any problems. The hotel...
