Long story short, Almost no one speaks English in this town, so I went to the hostel to ask for some basic information about plane tickets. Was immediately told off from the owner (or a guy who acts like he owns the place) and to be honest I’m quite happy I didn’t book a room there. Obviously can’t say much about the rooms, but the service level is disgraceful and appalling.
Highly recommended! Best location in the center of Salvador, walking distance from restaurants and bars. Huge help and recommandations from the owner who speaks English, amazing breakfast in the morning, and constant help and caring from Venda at the desk! Do not hesitate :)
This was my first time travelling alone, and Paulo did everything he could to make me feel at home. He is a natural born host, always taking care of everybody, making sure we connect and meet other guests so our stay is even more memorable. Rooms are good, breakfast is great, and the caipirinha happy hour is even better. Thank you Paulo (and Vanda while we're at it) for everything!
I didn’t stay here but my friends did. I wasn’t allowed in the hostel to socialize with them during a happy hour. Not only this I told them I didn’t want a drink or anything else but could I stay and chat with my friends? They did not agree and told me to leave. How ridiculous? This is NOT the vibe of a hostel and just gives off negative vibes. Sorry guys but I will be warning against your hostel to every traveler I meet. Nasty people, nasty rules, nasty vibe.
It has a free caipirinha happy hour at 5:15 every day. The travelers meet there, meet each other and in many cases spend the evening in one or more groups. English is the common language. The staff is friendly and excellent. Breakfast until noon is perfect for this late night town.
This hostel might be one of the best hostel in salvador city center : amazing breakfast, nice location, nice rooms and facilities, nice people at reception EXCEPT that we had a bit trouble with the owner. I think he prefers his dogs to his guests. We arrived early in the morning we not so much sleep so we asked for a nap in an empty chill room. On purpose or not : he put his barking dog right next to us, made us pay the breakfast although we were not taking one the day after, made no effort to find us a room before 2pm and barely looked at us in the eyes while talking. Hostel remains very nice, pity that this experience made it less pleasant
This place is exceptional and the atmosphere is the best I have ever experienced in a hostel. The location is perfect, in a nice street in the middle of the old town. A great place to explore Salvador from. Paulo, the owner has everything set-up perfectly. Stong (for Brazil) WiFi, great breakfasts lasting all morning, a small pool for an afternoon cooldown and the secret sauce is the happy hour of free Caipirinha's, which brings everyone in the hostel together, making plans for the evening, the next day and beyond. Most guests are speaking English as a common language, I could not recommend this place highly enough.
Hostel and rooms was overall great. The manager needs to cheer up a bit and remember that being friendly and helpful at all times is part of the service. Remember that reviewing is anonymous so coming at people over dinner is not on. Signed Mr F
For me as a first time solo traveller in Brazil with little to no Portugese this place was an absolute god send. In other busy hostels full of Portuguese speakers I might aswell have been there alone as there was zero interaction. But as soon as I walked into this hostel and was welcomed by Paulo I felt at home. Despite only been there a few days with English in common we were one big happy hostel family. Going to see the sights, eating meals and even getting into night clubs free because there was 15 of us!!! This truly was an experience I will never forget - Brazilian, French, Israeli, Dutch, Belgian... so many nationalities coming together in one place sharing tales of adventures and making new memories. Aswell as the guests this place has alot more going for it. Generous breakfast, nice cool pool, excellent Wi-Fi and the icing on the cake free alcohol for a whole hour. In retrospect the free alcohol may contribute considerably to the rapid transformation from complete strangers to best friends. In conclusion any solo travelling English speakers in Salvador MUST stay at this hostel. Boa viagem !!!…
Amazing hostel with an amazing staff! We felt like home and they help us with everything. Nice Breakfast, nice pizzas and the zulu restaurant was delicious, we could enjoy tipical Brazilian dishes and we were amazed by food! Lovely and beautiful dogs! We could be more happy in here!
