Our first visit to Salvador where we stayed a week in Papaya Verde. We had the best time. The hotel is in a quiet street and close to some excellent beaches, restaurants and bars. All great places to hang out during day or evenings. The Pousada has a beautiful garden and terras where you can chill in one of the hammocks. A very relaxing atmosphere and super friendly staff, they gave us some good advice on how to enjoy the best of Salvador. Our room had a small balcony, very comfortable beds and airco. It was perfect for our stay and very good value for money. Breakfast included i.a. (good) coffee, fresh fruits, juices, cakes, eggs and more. Thanks again guys for making our stay memorable. We hope to visit again one day soon!

The place is nice, well located. Breakfast is wonderful. But, rooms are extremely small, which does not brimg any pleasure to stay in. In addition, rooms are not cleaned, and bed not done every day. I would at least expext that from staying in a pousada!

Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your response. As our hotel is an older reformed colonial building, we have 15 rooms in all different sizes in our hotel. All the rooms are beeing cleaned daily, unless the roomkey is not at the reception desk and there is no answer knocking at the door. We tried our best to change you to another room but unfortunately all the rooms were reserved in the period you stayed with us. We apologize for any inconvenience, with kind regards, Pousada Papaya Verde

Chose this hotel due to price and location. Location is superb being very close to the beach front with lots of amenities really closeby. Unlike many other TripAdvisor reviewers, our room experience (triple room) was very bad. The floor tiles were full of grime that stuck to our feet. We couldn't change the room. The maid tried cleaning the grime off the following morning, so it smelled better but what it really needs is a good scrubbing. There were no curtains and all we had was thick glass which did not block out street light. Plus lots of street / music from outside and the fact that we slept at all was a testament to how dead tired we were. The breakfast was pretty good and the staff had decent English. I did peep in to some other rooms. They seemed decent- so looks like we just had an awful room from hell!!

Dear "vit666", We are really shocked about your review and parts of your comments about our hotel. The room you stayed in is the last of our 15 rooms who still has the original floor tiles which are old but definately not "full of grime who needs a good scrubbing" or a "awful room from hell". Unfortunately this room is the last to be renovated, as our 14 others have been already renovated. We have 2 excellent cleaners working in our hotel who clean all our rooms daily! Unfortunately we were fully booked on the days of your stay so we were not able to change you to another room. The second night you did not wanted the cleaners enter your room anymore. We also did not receive any information from you about loud noise or street music, in which case our night recepcionist would have taken actions. Our hotel is situated in a very! quiet residental street and we hardly ever have problems with noise pollution. Anyhow we want to apologize for any inconvenience. Kindly, Pousada Papaya Verde

Fair rate and service. It could be better in details but it's fine and comfortable. Very good location for site seeing around Barra. Staff is nice. Pleasant place with plants around. Good breakfast with fruits, breads, cakes and juices.

Overall it is a good hotel, small, simple but good value of money. Positive: Location, part of the staff very helpful. Neutral: Breakfast Negative: Nice Room but the mattress is too soft for my point of view.
