Very nice horses on a pleasant trail ride through the woods. We also rented an RV in the campground. The only negative part of our experience was paying $10 for very wet firewood that did nothing but smoke and hiss despite a lot of effort to get a campfire going. A refund upon informing the office would have been nice, but honestly $10 isn’t that a big deal.

We loved the quiet campground. Our site was large and grassy with a nice stone fire pit. The campground was well taken care of and very clean. Free showers, clean. The horses were fun to be around. Our wood was delivered for the stated price. There was a playground, but no pool. There is Lake Emily only 15 minutes away. We liked the staff, other than the owner. We found he was conceded and rude and provoked our dog to bark at him by throwing his hands toward her face. It was immature. He needs lessons in customer service. We would've considered a seasonal site there if he were not the owner.

My family loved the pony and horse rides. The camping sites were nice sized, quiet, level, with gravel drives next to grassy areas. You could have firewood delivered right to your site- very handy since we had a motor home. We didn't try the Fri fish fry, but it definitely smelled good.

Sites are good. Owner was a jerk, he seemed slightly tipsy the day we checked in. We also reserved full hook up sites and was told that he didn’t pump them so it wasn’t an option. I waited until the next morning because of thinking he was tipsy….he blamed it on us even though I had an email from him to confirm the full hook up (the booking looked weird so I emailed to confirm it was all set). He said it was “pointless to keep discussing because he wasn’t doing anything about it”. We had a long drive so we ended up packing up first thing so we could avoid a long dump line and still get home at a reasonable hour. Cut our vacation short because the owner was lazy and didn’t have his stuff together.

The showers were kinda gross…about 1-2 inches of standing water in the middle stall and entry way. We would have used our camper…but figured we’d minimize because of not having full hook up.

Bathrooms were not cleaned at night at were constantly out of paper towel.

The kids enjoyed the horses…it’s really the only thing that saves this place.

We won’t go back…other campsites are so much more customer friendly this was a bad start to the camping season but thankfully I know the next place is top notch!

This was an awful experience. We booked with less than 24 hour notice. The site said riders must be able to mount a horse without assistance. Being as we ride every weekend, we assumed this was from the safety of a mounting block. When we arrived there were no mounting blocks and I was paired with a very tall horse. I could barely reach the stirrup and the saddle slipped as I attempted to get on. I was not comfortable getting on and hurting the horse and asked to use the rail next to me. I was told no. Meanwhile, the elderly lady in front of me was given assistance. One of the instructors offered me a shorter horse and the other gal said no. My daughter, who is on the spectrum was in tears. The owner refused to even hear me out when I tried to ask nicely to just refund my portion of the ride. When I asked him to show policies he became rude and condescending and mocked that I became emotional. Never would I recommend this place.

We had a great experience camping at Wild West Campground in Mid-September. Showed up for our first time and while parking our motorhome Jay was dropping off our wood, $10 lasted us the weekend with morning and evening fires. I have never been a horse person but after a Saturday ride I signed my daughter and myself back up for a Sunday ride. This was my first time on a horse and Nick, an older mammoth Amish horse, was wonderful to ride. He was very docile and an easy ride, sometimes stubborn when he wanted to eat more vegetation but that was just him taking advantage of my inexperience. My 11 year old daughter rode AJ and Dakota and they were both perfect for her, very nice horses, as they all were. We hung out around the horses most of the weekend and Jay was very busy taking care of things but anytime we were at the shop he showed up to take care of us. I enjoyed waking up in the mornings and hanging out with the horses. We will definitely be back, probably many times. This was by far the best camping trip in my daughters eyes and I am just as excited to return. I never used the camp restrooms, my daughter said they were nice, but the grounds were very clean. Most of the sites are within the trees although I reserved site 27 which is in the open. This worked out great since the skies were clear and far enough away from city lights that the sky was wonderful for stargazing. This was for sure in the top 5 of our best family camping trips and we camp every weekend trying to find new places to explore.

Reserved a specific site for a weekend a month in advance to see if it would be descent for a seasonal. We get there and someone was is in our "reserved" site. Owner just blew us off when we enquired as to why. We will never go back even though close to our daughter and her family. We will also spread the word about our sour experience.

We stayed here with friends and family, nice gravel driveway sites, clean bathrooms, reasonably priced.
HOWEVER: My family did not care for the owner, he came off very condescending and rude (Lacks customer service skills!) Not only to me and my husband, but also to other members of our party. "Nickle and dimed" was a theme of the weekend as well. Overcharged for tax (rounded up to nearest dollar for tax), one of our friends paid $20 for wood, expected 2 loads but was only given 1 load. Website states $10 for a "tailgate full"; however fails to mention a small golf cart tailgate. The horses and horse rides were nice, if you like horses this would be a nice place. The office had very limited items for sale, but 10 minutes away is Waupaca.
We will not go back solely based on the owner, which is too bad because the campground was acutally nice.
The owner told us "The campground had a bad reputation from the previous owners, so he is trying to turn it around". BUT HE HAS OWNED IT FOR 11 YEARS! I think maybe the bad reputation is from HIM!

We rented one of their ready-to-go campers and went on 3 horseback rides during our 4 day stay here. The trails were beautiful and the horses were so well behaved and obviously loved. The campground is super clean and the staff, including owner Jay, were very friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. We highly recommend.
