Detailed Reviews
My aunt rented out the whole place for a wedding/reunion. It was perfectly situated and a view of the river. Very quaint, Victorian house with cute charm. All the rooms were nice. Pool table was fun in the evenings. Loved the stained glass windows, porches for morning coffee, and enormous kitchen.

We stayed end of September with the fall colors just starting to show. Check In Was easy to do online. We stayed during the week and had the house to ourselves. Our room was spacious, cozy and clean. Would definitely recommend

Don't let the plain exterior of the home (or the fact that it is run by a twenty-something single guy) fool you. The inside of this B&B is fabulous! The full-size pool table in the front room gives you a hint that this is no ordinary Victorian B&B. Although not as filled with knicky-knacks as most Victorian era homes, this home has beautifully restored woodwork and comfy, cozy rooms. As someone who thinks less is more, I appreciated the clutter-free feel which allows you to see the beauty of the house itself. Our room had a high, soft (artificial?) feather bed, flat-screen TV, and a completely but tastefully updated bathroom. The gorgeous kitchen where the owner's dad cooked us eggs to order and bacon, combined w/yogurt, fruit, toast, and juice, was beautifully remodeled and huge! The breakfast was the most filling "continental" breakfast I've ever had. All in all, the Tritsch House feels like a Victorian B&B brought into the 21st century. We would love to have been able to stay longer.

I looked at a lot of different options for staying in Alma, Pepin, Wabasha, Lake City, Red Wing, etc... and ended up at the Tritsch House partly because of the photos and the information on the website, www.thetritschhouse.com.
Extremely pleased with this place. The house is beautifully restored and tastefully decorated with gorgeous period-appropriate furniture, but minimally so - not a lot of knick-knacks and crap around cluttering the experience. Very clean.
The Innkeeper said that the Belle of Alma room is rented most frequently, but we looked at all the rooms and were so glad that we were in the Gessel Room - I loved the huge bathroom (probably a converted bedroom). This room actually feels a lot bigger than how it looks in the pictures on the website - very spacious. Bed was fantastic - had a great sleep.
I liked that there was a wine fridge in the kitchen and glasses & corkscrew in each room. Breakfast was great - made to order eggs & bacon, and with 2 kinds of homemade jam (made by the innkeeper's mother) to go on the toast/muffins. Very nice touch! Free wi-fi, too.
Service: friendly and welcoming, but not overly in your business - great.

A great place to stay on the Mississippi in Alma, WI
We recently returned from a weekend in Alma, WI at The Tritsch House B&B. What a find! Alma is an old Mississippi River town in Wisconsin that is being regentrified, and it has some real gems, among them Tritsch House.
This Queen Anne vintage home has been restored with private baths and jacuzzis in all but one room. The home has 4 decks available to all guests well-equipped with chairs and tables for reading, taking in the sun/shade, or just relaxing with a beverage. The kitchen is available to guests with a refridgerator, and a wine cooler refridgerator for storing items you may wish to use in your room. Rooms are equipped with wine glasses, a couch, flat screen TV and wonderful beds. An ample breakfast was available each morning which included, yogurt, juice, fresh rolls from the local bakery, breads to toast, hard boiled eggs, cereal varieties and fresh fruit. The young man who owns the home is very particular and the home is well kept and clean.
Alma has many good places to eat, a unique bakery, coffee houses, and many shops to browse all within walking distance of Tritsch House, so once we parked our car, we didn't use it again until we left town.
There are no hotels in the city, so staying at a B&B, or one of the small Mom and Pop motels on the edge of town or in a nearby town are the only option to enjoying this town for more than just a drive-through experience.
www.thetritschhouse.com is the website I used to find this gem!

we stayed at the Tritsch house on a beautiful fall weekend. The house is very comfortable felt like we were visiting a friend. john the owner is very friendly and gave us great recommendations. We sampled some wine at the local winery and enjoyed the view from the Beuna Vista park. We ate at kate and Gracies which we enjoyed very much. after a dissapointing Badger loss that we watched at Tony's bar we were able to relax in the jaccuzzi and slept soundly in a nice cozy bed. we woke to the smell of bacon which was delicious. It was a much needed break would recommend this B&B.

A very relaxing B & B stay with a great view of the Mississippi. Even if your room is not one with a river view, the front porch and balconey provide a great place to relax and watch the river roll by in the evening. This was also the roomiest B&B that I can recall staying in and the breakfast was made to order.

Very nice accomodations in this Victorian style home. Updated bath w/shower AND a very large whirlpool tub in the room!!! Great bed/bedding, etc. Air conditioned. Beautiful woodwork and furniture. We happened to find this place on the web, and they only had 1 room left, so we took it. We wanted to jump on our motorcycle to celebrate 28 years of marriage on this little overnight "get away" that was hardly planned! We love riding through the "dug ways" of Buffalo County, just east of Alma. Johnny, the owner...a young guy, was very easy to visit with and steered us right with the restaurant choice that night too. The only thing, was...he didn't want us playing pool and breaking the balls after 10pm. Alas...we turned in and enjoyed the room:)

We spent the night in the beautiful Tritsch house. Lovely furnishings, friendly staff, and a great breakfast. My only complaint was the train that whistles through the town all night long. I think you'd hear it from any location in Alma, so if that bothers you, head off the river road.

July 2017
Thanks for a wonderful week in Alma, Johnny. Your home is beautiful and your hospitality incomparable. My wife and I along with 2 sisters and a brother-in-law spent a week at the Tritsch House in July 2017. Johnny and Carissa were just really super hosts and advisors.
The house itself is an antique constructed in 1902 and beautifully restored/maintained. The furnishings are period which makes staying here a trip back to the early 1900's in style and feel. Every room was clean and pleasant and everything worked.
Can’t tell you how much we enjoyed the view from the lovely bedroom and that from the upper balcony and the screened porch. Could not have asked for a better place to enjoy the sunsets across the Mississippi with a glass of wine in hand. The family spent a lot of time on the screened porch and were surprised how often a cool breeze wafted through. It is also well shaded so even on hot days it was comfortable.
We would be remiss if we didn’t tell you how much we loved sitting at the kitchen bar as you prepared the most delicious breakfasts. Each day we were certain that
day’s breakfast was the best and each day you proved us wrong – they just kept getting better!
Johnny was also a fantastic guide to area activities. The Eagle House in Wabasha, the Alma Fishing Float, Harbor View restaurant in Pepin and for the adventurous Bucknuckles in Pragg. These are just a few of the places he advised us to visit and all were fantastic.
Thanks again for sharing your and your delightful stories.
