#2 of 26 Specialty lodging in Coroico
We offer dormitories and private rooms with comfortable beds. We are a new hostel in town and we are on the way to make this place one of the best backpackers spot in Coroico. We like that people feel welcome in our place. Hostal Chawi is a good place to escape from the chaotic La Paz for few day. Our garden provide us with coffee for the break fast, fruits of the season and many flowers.

This is a gem. Run by a wonderful expat Englishman who has lived in Bolivia for 27 years, this is well located just outside the busy centre but within easy walking distance of the town square. Charlie, is of great assistance and loves a chat about everything. The views are nothing short of spectacular and for birdwatchers this is a delight. Lots of great walks and a diversity of food in town. Highly recommended!

Great hostal with the best view from Coroico!! It’s in a quiet area just a short walk from the center of town. The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming and that’s what made this a one of my favourite hostals I’ve been to. It almost felt like I was staying at someone’s home rather than at a hostal. I also got a lot og useful tips about Coroico, which is a place with a lot of charm! I had a lovely time, and will definitely stay here again if I go back to Bolivia :-)

Chawi was instantly inviting. The owners where so kind and helpful. The husband speaks English and was very helpful. We stayed in the dorm and the beds where very comfortable and very clean. The view was beautiful and the hostel it self is a stunning view! The garden is very nice. We didn’t use the shower as we showered the day we got there and left the day before. But the communal bathrooms where the cleanest I have seen since being On this trip! Honestly if you are doing the death road tour I would suggest staying in Coroico just to stay at this hostel, they offer breakfast and also dinner, I don’t know if dinner is extra but the breakfast was amazing! And the coffee was the best so far! They grow their own beans there. I can’t say enough for this place. I wish I could have stayed longer

It started out really well, Charlie gave us lots of info on all the activities. And when we were with 5 people in the hostel we had a really good breakfast and great dinner. But when 3 of us left it all went the wrong way. No more dinner and no more breakfast. We even had no hot showers any more on the last day. And then the barking and fighting dogs. They were sleeping in the barn and beauce others dogs wanted to attack them and fight it was not easy to have a good sleep. And they did nothing about that, except throwing water at them :-) So, maybe in better times this hostel will be a good choice, but for us it was not a really good experience......

Stayed for 3 nights with my partner in the double ensuite room. It has a huge terrace with the best view. The shower wasn't the warmest but not unbearable. We were told that we could use the shared showers that do tend to get hotter but we never needed to. Charlie will explain everything you need to know about Coroico and the surrounding area. He prepares breakfast every morning for a certain time (not a help yourself situation as it is in most hostels). This didn't bother us as it ensured we were up and ready for the day. We also had dinner there one evening. For 40 Bolivianos we had huge plates of food with chicken, rice, plantains and the best stewed vegetables. Honestly the best meal I've had in Bolivia.
