The staff here were courteous and nice, and the place itself was well kept and really good! Unfortunately the dinner we had was not as good as what we came to expect from other ryokans. First, the lovely tatami floor over the hotel is just superb. No slippers anywhere, except walking to the 3 private onsens. We spent good time inside these private onsens without any prebooking. Walk in if the light is on. Kusatsu onsen is one of my favourites in Japan among areas like MANZA/YUFUIN/KAGOSHIMA. This hotel is lovely with free shuttle taking...
