I have enjoyed a perfect stay in Hotel Boun. Hotel staff are very polite and friendly. they try their best to communicate with foreigners in English. You don't have to worry about language barriers. Luckily I have met a lady staff who knows Cantonese. It's much better to understand more about this hotel. The dinner and breakfast is traditional Japanese style,... More

We booked the 10 tatami mat room, and on arrival, we received a free upgrade to a 10 + 6 tatami mat room. The room itself was great, we had a small view of a nice frozen pond (we went during winter) and the surrounding gardens. We took a trip to Sai-no-Kawara and the Yubatake afterwards, and the ryokan is... More

We went in February for a winter onsen experience and wasn't disappointed - it was magical sitting in the outdoor hot spring surrounded by snow. The location was good, right in the middle of the small street of shops but up a small slope so you don't feel like you're in the middle of everything. They served us tea and... More

My sister and I took our mother and our daughters to Boun to celebrate Mother's day. Arrived a bit early but we could check in because our room was ready. They also up graded our room because they had better room available. There were many Ikebana (flower arrangement) and beautiful decoration in the hallway. We could smell real Onsen on... More

Located on slightly elevated grounds, Boun is the place to be for quiet reflection and relaxation. 3 onsens located in the hotel premises - they were all great. I left the hotel as clean as a whistle having taken 4 soaks in the span of 12 hours. The onsens close at 3am (or maybe 4am) making late night baths a... More

We walked downhill from bus station for about 10-15 minutes walk and easily found Boun. It was located in a enclosed area and separated from the"onsen street" by another 5-minute walk from a downhill slope. The hotel was newly furnished and nicely decorated. Given it was chinese new year and the hotel is fully booked, we could not get a... More

We stay in private onsen room. It was really wonderful. The onsen water quality is the most excellent one we have experienced in Japan. The food is disappointing though. Not that delicious. The area is very nice, small village. It's so lovely. We had a great time walking down the road at night with snow flurries coming down.

I stayed for 1 night with my husband(Canadian)and my parents(Japanese)in a newly renovated part of the building. My deciding factors for this ryokan were a complimentary pick up/drop off services available from bus station, its central location, and traditional Japanese meal served in your own room. I booked 2 rooms and both had a mountain view. Having a North American... More

Beautiful hotel with newly renovated rooms. We stayed at the japanese room with private outdoor bath. The private en suite outdoor bath was slightly cloudy (could be due to us forgetting to cover it) but the hotel's 3 onsens with a total of more than 5 pools were pristinely clean and clear. Food was amazing and served in room. Service... More
