Have been going to Hawk's Nest every few years for the last 36 years. What you have to know up front is that this IS NOT a luxury hotel. It was built many years ago. It has been upgraded somewhat. This is a place you go to enjoy solitude, quiet and to get away from the bustling world. Use this...

Most hotels with low rates also have low ratings. What attracted me to Hawks Nest was the low rate and high ratings. The high ratings were well worth it. The place was clean, the rooms not large, but up to date. Did I say it was clean? It sparkled. My room even had a flat screen TV. It wasn't busy...

Ok, let's face it here. When you come to a place like the new river gorge, what you really want is someplace to sleep. Well you won't find that at the Hawks Nest Lodge! What you find is a great place to sleep. It's clean, staff is awesome and on it. The Park Rangers are as helpful as they come...

This was the biggest surprise of the trip. Very walkable trails (at the main entrance and what I will call the historic entrance. Beautiful views. The tram was a ball to ride on also. We rode the tram down and walked the railtrail which I believe the city owns to a old coal mine. It was a lot of fun...

This was a honeymoon place for my husband and I 17 years ago. It was most disappointing to see so many things that needed improved. The toilet seat was not secure and you felt like you were going to fall off. There was no table. There was one chair and two beds in the room we were in. We asked...

The lodge is located in its own park, peaceful, quite, and scenic. Before selecting this lodge we debated between staying here or one of the motels in the two nearby towns. After we got there we were very pleased with our selection. We had a room with balcony and a great view of the gorge. Our room's location was such that...

I am not the type to be picky but this time I find that a warning is needed for future trave lers. First of all we paid extra for a corner room which was indeed spacious and had a wonderful view. Now comes the negative. The whole place needs a facelift...as others have reported, it is stuck in the 60's....

Location is everything! Beautiful view! Everyone from check-in desk to waitress is very nice. The building is old. Would be an overall excellent experience if the bathrooms could be blown up and remodeled. Also food at the lodge is just average.

you can tell this hotel is old, but it was also clean, the breakfast in the morning wasn't the best to choose from, so we just had oatmeal which was good. the view from our room and from the dining area was absolutely beautiful!

A standard state park stay in a hotel - not luxury or new, but a good stay and place to sleep when you're out being adventurous during the day. View from the balcony was gorgeous and overlooked the Gorge. Breakfast in the morning was decent - an array of muffins, donuts, and coffee. Pool looked nice, but we didn't use...
