We were traveling to Virginia from Indiana. We did not want to stop overnight in Charleston so we decided to go off the beaten path to Hawks nest. Best decision yet! They had a beautiful room with a view of the gorge. We travel with our dog and the room was very clean not like some chains. Nice dining room.... More

We had a great time at this beautiful spot. The room was nice with local handmade soaps. The nearby trails were great and not to hard to maneuver with my bad ankle. Staff was so sweet and welcoming. Only problem was the restaurants food. Again the staff was gracious But the food was awful. Very old food on the buffet.... More

This small state park is worth the visit if you're travelling through West Virginia on US 19. It is only a about 10 miles from US 19, located on the rim of the New River Gorge. There are really fine views of the gorge and there is a tram that will take you down to the river if you don't... More

What a wonderful experience. Unique layout with tons of retro character. Room with a canyon view was wonderful. Two queen beds filled the room, which was very clean. Restaurant was a bonus and the staff were friendly and so hospitable. Free bfast was very adequate. Melinda was especially charming and helpful with area reommendations, Reception desk folks were great as... More

Beautiful lodge in small state park. Rooms and facilities are older but kept in first class condition. Restaurant on site. Wonderful staff. View from rooms facing river are breath taking. Must go to this great place.

Had a gorge view which was awesome despite fog. Room was standard room with double beds but no refrigerator or microwave (we failed to see the small print). Unfortunately, we didn't plan well to take advantage of the tram rides or the swimming pool because nothing opened until Memorial Day and we were there during the week. The worst part... More

Several members of my family stayed at the Lodge at Hawks Nest State Park and had a wonderful stay! First, the view! Imagine the blue-green river flowing through the beautiful gorge, surrounded by mountains. And to top it off, hawks gliding effortlessly just outside our balcony. It was absolutely breath-taking! Then, to make the stay even better, a huge breakfast... More

Great accommodations, nice suite. Was there for the Saturday night dinner theater. Food and service was excellent and the show was very entertaining. Would be very hard to find a room with this kind of view, good food and entertainment for the price paid. Excellent value!

Lodge was what you would expect in a state park - could do with a bit of updating. Our room was spacious, with a balcony overlooking the canyon, we never got tired of looking at the views! My husband had teriyaki chicken & rice from room service and he was very satisfied with the meal. We took the cable car... More
