We were able to spend 2 days and nights here in May 2017. Could not have been happier except that the restaurant is under renovation so only breakfast was available. We loved our room, the groundhogs in the garden, the amazing views and the convenience for many things we wanted to do.

Clean rooms. Comfy bed. And spectacular views. Would recommend this hotel if staying in the area. Our only negative was they advertise free breakfast. We went out for breakfast after looking at their offerings.

Hawks Nest Lodge is not the newest place you will stay and finding your room will be an obstacle course, yet we ask for a room with a view and that view was amazing. We had room 438 and to sit on the balcony to just watch was wonderful. Early morning mist rising and the evening looking across to see...

Our stay at the lodge was very pleasant. The room had been refurbished, so it was nice. The beds were AWESOME. Clean, fresh linens, and plenty of pillows. The view from our suite was incredible: the New River Gorge. The bathroom was adequate, but not great facilities in the bath. The ceiling was so low, I'm not sure a tall...

We had reservations for 2 nights, but only stayed one after seeing what the place was like. We had to walk down 2 flights of stairs and around and about in what felt like a dungeon to get to our little room. That seems to be big fire hazard. Room was clean, but that's about all I can say about...

The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a first floor room...I would have rathered a balcony, because the view isn't as nice from the patio, but then I would have missed out on the raccoons coming to visit. I think people feed them -- you shouldn't -- because opening the door in the morning is like ringing a dinner...

Brown water from some flushed lines that took a while to figure out . was told just to run water to clear. We tried that for an hour with no resolve finally it was 11 at night so I have up hoping it would be gone by morning. That was not the case . but if you ran only hot...

You come to Hawks Nest for the views of the mountains and the scenic beauty. The rooms at the state park are pretty clean, but dated. Everything here seems a bit worn and the lodge has seen better days. The staff is very welcoming and tries very hard to please. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. The free breakfast is...

On our way from NYC to Norfolk, VA to see friends and then to Ohio to visit family, we decided to stop at this park and stay at the lodge. Although there was a lot of snowfall and we weren't sure if we could make it, we were had we made the trip. The lodge is a wonderful place with...

We have wanted to stay here for many years, while the scenery out the windows were beyond lovely, the lodge was just okay. It seems tired and the rooms outdated, the dinner in the restaurant was good, but way way over priced. If it is bad weather, there is NOTHING to do at this lodge, no inside activities, nothing. Even...
