Very nice old home.... the breakfast was exquisite, the conversation with other quests was great and the sleep was very comfortable. ..A great place to stay, "Off the beaten path"! I wish I had more time to enjoy this gem but had to run.
I can’t say enough about this B&B. It’s in a small town with not a lot to do, but it is so quiet and peaceful. It is a beautiful Victorian home with beautiful landscaping all around it with a large front porch with seating areas for enjoying the evening. When you walk inside, you are greeted with beautiful antiques, hard wood floors, and a wooden staircase with a stained glass window. The entire house is furnished with antiques. She had lemon pound cake and chocolate chip muffins out in the evening for the guests to enjoy (which we did! Delicious!). In the morning, the breakfast was amazing. Sausage egg and cheese bake, cinnamon bananas, warm chocolate chip muffins, zucchini bread, roasted vegetables, and more! Plus a selection of teas or coffee. We were there on businesses and couldn’t find hotels in Lewisburg and found this gem. Next time we return to Lewisburg, even if hotels are available, we will stay here and drive the 30 minutes to Lewisburg! We absolutely loved our stay here and will return! I have so many more pictures I’d love to post, but it limits me to 10!…
My husband and I had the pleasure to discover this wonderful B&B during our 1-night stay in Anderson, WV. The house is clean, very well-maintained and preserved. The decor is filled with warmth and country charm. Doris, the innkeeper, is amazing and super helpful! We enjoyed the nutritious customized breakfast as we discovered the history of this historic home. The Blue Room is very spacious and cozy. We will definitely return to stay here the next time we decide to visit WV. It is a truly memorable stay for us; we highly recommend the Old Victorian Inn located in the quaint town of Alderson to anyone!!
The place had an "old world" charm , the owner was amazing, no in-room TV and so that made it more quiet for our stay. The owner met our every need...was very friendly and she cooked a breakfast to die for and kept asking if we wanted more...................
The Old Victorian Inn was a wonderful place to stay and surprisingly affordable. My wife fell in love with the house immediately. It was just like stepping back in time and staying in a marvelous old mansion. Every room is decorated beautifully. The owner was so friendly and accommodating. She prepared us a nice breakfast and took some time to chat with us. Alderson is a great old town, especially the historic Main Street. We were passing through the area and only had one night to stay. We wish we could have stayed longer!
What a lovely place to stay. My friend and I began looking up B&Bs online for a weekend girls' trip and landed in Alderson and its Old Victorian Inn. Owner Doris made us feel at home, and the experience was just as a B&B stay should feel - absolutely lovely. She is knowledgeable of the town's history and fun folk lore. The inn is beautiful and a must stay if in the Greenbrier area of West Virginia. Convenient to I-64.
My best friend and I wanted a weekend getaway and with some research into B&B’s,I discovered this gem. It’s an absolutely beautiful inn with Doris making us feel completely at home. Our room was beautiful with her treating us to an amazing breakfast each morning. Doris was full of historical information and interesting stories. If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend this gem nestled in Alderson WV. You arrive as strangers, but leave as friends.
My daughter and I stopped here for a quick respite on our week long road trip through West Virginia and it was not at all what we were expecting. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. Doris was a wonderful hostess, her home was beautifully decorated, and breakfast was delicious. It was truly a little gem not too far from I-64. Our only regret was we only stayed one night. We will definitely be back!!
We stayed at the Inn as a family this past weekend, and were so happy to have found it. The Inn sits in the historic district of an old WV town, right across from the restored train depot - which operates now as an Amtrak stop. Our gracious host (and owner) Doris told us about the history of the Inn as a boarding house, showcase piece for the possibilities of WV wood, and more over it's lifetime. The building and rooms have been wonderfully restored with antique furniture as well, making it a beautiful and comfortable place to be. The pictures don't do it justice! Compared to staying in some of the other towns around this area, we enjoyed Alderson because it has soul that can be felt. The town has been working hard over the past few years to revitalize, with initiatives led by Doris herself. Come for the local U-Pick strawberry season at Sunset Berry Farm, July 4th week of parades and fireworks on the bridge overlooking the river, and Alderson's Store (one of oldest shops in WV). We also stopped by the Alderson Big Wheel, which has great diner food and ice cream. For amenities: Parking easy, on street around the home WiFi is great Very clean, fluffy sheets and towels Breakfast is over the top with eggs to order Price is very competitive to local hotels Incredible host, come just to meet her…
Having stayed here the year before and knowing what a find this was we live in TN and was tired of being cooped up so we called Doris and headed to WV . We stayed for 3 nights just had a wonderful time relaxing on the porch playing games reading and just getting away. Of course breakfast was top notch and everything was clean and perfect. Doris always has a pitcher of ice tea for me . Love this place highly recommended if you are in the area stop for a night or 2 .
