My daughter and I stopped here for a quick respite on our week long road trip through West Virginia and it was not at all what we were expecting. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. Doris was a wonderful hostess, her home was beautifully decorated, and breakfast was delicious. It was truly a little gem not too far from I-64. Our only regret was we only stayed one night. We will definitely be back!!
We stayed at the Inn as a family this past weekend, and were so happy to have found it. The Inn sits in the historic district of an old WV town, right across from the restored train depot - which operates now as an Amtrak stop. Our gracious host (and owner) Doris told us about the history of the Inn as a boarding house, showcase piece for the possibilities of WV wood, and more over it's lifetime. The building and rooms have been wonderfully restored with antique furniture as well, making it a beautiful and comfortable place to be. The pictures don't do it justice! Compared to staying in some of the other towns around this area, we enjoyed Alderson because it has soul that can be felt. The town has been working hard over the past few years to revitalize, with initiatives led by Doris herself. Come for the local U-Pick strawberry season at Sunset Berry Farm, July 4th week of parades and fireworks on the bridge overlooking the river, and Alderson's Store (one of oldest shops in WV). We also stopped by the Alderson Big Wheel, which has great diner food and ice cream. For amenities: Parking easy, on street around the home WiFi is great Very clean, fluffy sheets and towels Breakfast is over the top with eggs to order Price is very competitive to local hotels Incredible host, come just to meet her…
Having stayed here the year before and knowing what a find this was we live in TN and was tired of being cooped up so we called Doris and headed to WV . We stayed for 3 nights just had a wonderful time relaxing on the porch playing games reading and just getting away. Of course breakfast was top notch and everything was clean and perfect. Doris always has a pitcher of ice tea for me . Love this place highly recommended if you are in the area stop for a night or 2 .
My family and I had an awesome experience at the Old Victorian Inn! Doris, our host, was very welcoming and attentive. The house was impeccably clean and breakfast was outstanding. Spacious bedrooms and inviting parlor room and dining area. Highly recommend!
If you are anywhere near Alderson you MUST stay here. Immaculate condition.spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Doris our host was incredible. Full of history on the area Breakfast was delicious and very comfortable. In short, absolutely perfect place!!! One slight downside to thus tv addict was no Tv in bedroom but otherwise perfect!!!
