There are management and facility issues at this hotel. At best, it is what I’d expect at a three star Sheraton level hotel. It has every failure complaint I have about an expected 4 Star Hotel. No Bellmen. No room service. A gabby registration person (solo at the desk) when people are waiting (I am handicapped with a bad back and had to wait standing while the registration person discussed his interest in movies with another guest, and no place for me to sit - ADA issue?). He told me that our room was upgraded, well, actually we had already booked the upgraded room. He lied and told us was the hotel upgraded us. We get to our room assigned for 10 days and there are virtually no drawers or storage. Each nightstand has one small drawer. There are three medium size drawers under the TV. I was told not to expect daily housekeeping and to call, but arriving at midnight to see 3 towels in the room for two of us is a bit skimpy. The nightstands are not much on electrical outlets, there is one in the lamp. I am a Level 5 Ambassador guest and expected a lot more from the Westin brand. My profile indicates requests for extra towels and feather pillows…nothing extra. As far as a “Warm Welcome”… they screwed up big time.…
Stay here regularly and usually in and out, but trying to get some work done today I have come to realize there are no quiet places in this hotel to think, read, work, or zoom. The restaurant has dance music blaring at 730a with one customer in the massive space. Simply turning that off would be a big step toward adapting to the zoom and remote work era. Starbucks has a cooler or hvac unti that making a big racket and the staff speak very loudly to compete. All hard surfaces cause sounds to bounce. Lobby is an echo chamber wiht more music and loud voices. Also lots of tour groups of teens. Impossibly unproductive for a hotel of this nature adn raining so not options to relocate this early in the morning.
I went to DC this past month. The hotel is beautiful, and the rooms are very nice. I slept there 2 nights, and it was very nice except for one thing; room service didn't come at all. The room had no fresh towels, and they didn't come to clean out the garbage or anything. Overall do recommend staying here though!
I am so glad that my friend and I found this hotel. I'm used to typically staying near Alexandria or in Maryland when I visit D.C. and had not ventured too much into Arlington. This hotel is the perfect distance from D.C. Given that we drove for this trip, we were easily able to get to the hotel and park our car. We were very close to the Ballston Metro for easy access to D.C. There are also many restaurants and shops close to this hotel if you are looking for something to do. The room was very modern. I'm always so impressed by the Westin and will continue to stay at these hotels.
We have stayed at this hotel many times, as it is our "go to" property when visiting family or traveling to DC. It is conveniently located close to the Metro and is nearby many good places for food and drink. Across the street is our favorite, The Mussel Bar, with Bartender extraordinaire, Melvin. Regarding the hotel, rooms are clean, beds are extremely comfortable and the staff is very accommodating. Kudos to Ms Chelsea Reid, front desk supervisor. who is particularly kind and helpful. Since our daughter lives in the area, we expect to return many times!
The room was fine. But in my 3 night stay I had 3 customer service issues which were pretty disappointing for a hotel at this price/class. 1) On my first night, I had some food delivered via Uber Eats. It didn't come with utensils so I called the service hotline and asked for some to be brought up. They said it would be no problem. The utensils never arrived.I ate with my hands. Hours passed. No utensils. 2) On my checkout morning I called the front desk to ask for late checkout. I was on hold for 40 minutes before I gave up and went downstairs to ask in person (it was granted, but still, a 40 minute+ hold for a guest is unaccetable) 3) After checking out I left my luggage (3 bags) at the front desk for a few hours before my flight. When I went to retrieve it, they only brought out one bag. I told the attendant there were two more, and it took fifteen minutes for them to locate the other bags, because, as she explained, whoever had put the bags in the storeroom had only bothered to tag one of the bags and left the other two lying around. I came pretty close to missing my flight because of this carelessness. The room was comfortable, but I recommend staying elsewhere.…
This hotel is amazing. We were fortunate to have a suite. Wow. Our room was huge and so comfortable. 2 mini-fridges, a large bedroom with a lovely bathroom. Our sitting area was spacious and comfortable. The view was great. Hotel staff were great, welcoming and friendly. Definitely a wonderful time. Starbucks was great downstairs. And The Commentary had wonderful drinks and service.
What a mess! Avoid on weekends as buses of preteens take over the hotel and any semblance of a good night sleep is lost. I spent two suite night upgrades to get what had to be a standard room on a low floor. Mold in the shower, clogged sink, torn and stained carpet. I would look elsewhere.
As a Platinum Elite member, I expect excellence in every Marriott experience. We had booked our son's bar mitzvah for April 2020- but due to the pandemic it got postponed 3 times. The staff was flexible, courtesy and responsive every time we had to change. And when we had the event last week, it was a home run. We had 20+ guests/family staying at the hotel and everyone had an amazing time. Thank you Arlington Gateway for a world class experience.
I was excited about my stay at the Westin Arlington but left feeling somewhat disappointed. First the good things, the view from our room was great and the hotel is in a great location in Ballston - it’s close to the highway as well as shops and eateries. Another huge plus was the water pressure in our room - it was excellent. The hotel staff were nice, though no one inquired about how we felt about our stay at check out. Unfortunately, the stay and our room felt very “no-frills” and was not that clean, which was surprising considering the hotel’s stated “commitment to clean.” When we arrived, there was one tiny bottle of shampoo, a tiny bottle of body wash and two small bars of soap, for two people staying for 3 nights. I requested conditioner, which took quite some time to arrive and never received the lotion that I requested. No one came in to clean our room on the first day and while that surprised me, I ended up not being too upset about it. The lack of cleanliness in our room was also a surprise. I went to make tea and the coffee maker was filthy. I attempted to clean it and then just gave up because it was pretty bad. As a practice, I wipe things down when I arrive at the hotel and noticed, during this process, that the phones were pretty dirty. With a few tweaks this could’ve been a perfect stay but it wasn’t.…
