Good location, walking distance to everything. Bar in lobby is nice, bartender was not the most friendly so we went somewhere else. Rooms are very clean and quaint, clearly been upgraded over the years. There is also no breakfast here in the am, it's called "grab and go" which is basically coffee, yogurt, and bananas. We used points for this overnight but for a weekend rate of 300+ you would expect a better breakfast.
Things got off to a bad start on arrival -- no one to help us with bags us the steep steps, which were hard to negotiate . My husband tripped but was thankfully not injured. A malfunctioning AC unit kept us from sleeping the first night -- the room was terribly hot. We did receive a partial refund for that night. No anti slip mat in the shower and the drain plug did not work so bathing was not an option. The second morning we were there, despite assurances that we would get help calling a cab, there was no one available. We don't "do uber" so we had to walk quite some distance to the funeral we were attending and were almost late. This is a pricey hotel, and we were stunned to find that on top of the high prices for our room, we were charged an additional $32 per night for television -- not for a movie, just for television. The bed was comfortable, the staff very polite, Even making allowances for Covid, the continental breakfast was abysmal. We have stayed at the Morrison House before but it is not what it once was. We will not stay there again!…
Sam the manager is a customer service expert! Accommodations right in downtown Alexandria with great customer care. Knowledgeable about the area and very helpful. This is why we are marriot members! They even let us leave luggage while we toured town after checkout.
My husband and I booked this hotel for a family event nearby . Gorgeous boutique hotel . So clean, elegant , and charming . Staff all very attentive and excellent ! Many terrific restaurants and bars nearby . So quiet, and we just loved this stay ! Thanks !
Reviews are accurate. Service is better than St. Regis DC. Sam and his staff did all things as noted in previous reviews. This is especially incredible since they were full and busy with a wedding the night we stayed. It was enjoyable to see all the staff interact together as a team and that positive energetic team spirit is reflected in the overall experience. This part of review is for platinum titanium members: It's nice that the experience and amenities was the same high level experience for all guests. They did give us a nice extra welcome gift, I think, but it felt like it was just part of the overall experience.
We're currently enjoying our stay at the Morrison House which is very relaxing. The Staff and Management are one cohesive team who anticipate our needs. Very genuine and professional. This bottom up team is tremendous and our family is the direct recipient of their culture. Great job and thank you, Peter, Stacey, Taylor and Isabelle.
The grab and go breakfast and the cocktail hour (wine) was a nice surprise. Common area with a fireplace (across the hallway from the bar) was warm and cozy. This place was a little difficult to find. While the property is on a street corner, the front entrance and driveway is down an alley. There are no big signs to direct drivers to their destination, and luckily I spotted a small sign on the Alfred St side of the building that told me this was the hotel I was looking for. No complaints about the stay at all. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, which is about all I need from a hotel.
I stayed at the Morrison house for 2 nights with my friends for the wedding on the new year eve and we had a wonder stay . All team went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time . Can’t wait to come back . Great service Morrison house staff 👏
I stayed at the Morrison House and I really enjoyed my stay . Great location, Wonderful staff at the Front Desk , cant thank them all for the exceptional service they extended to me and my family. We booked two rooms and we contacted the hotel Manager Sam S who was so helpful and honored our requests- 2 rooms next to each others. The other Sam was very nice and decent,Both Sams received and welcomed us upon arrival and helped us with our luggage. Our room was clean. Grab and Go breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed the happy wine hour. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and family . I hope I will visit this hotel again this year .
Excellent: Location, location, location! Morrison House is perfectly located just off King Street near small boutiques and restaurants. It is a comfortable walk from the Alexandria Amtrak Station and the waterfront. Excellent: The Staff! On our 3 night stay we had contact with numerous desk attendants and 1 housekeeper. Everyone was helpful and courteous! Excellent: Room size was large for a small hotel and extremely clean upon arrival. Good: The beautiful exterior of the building. The common room with gas fireplace. The unadvertised wine hour daily from5-6pm. The beautifully appointed rooms! Bad: I missed the small print that the rooms would not be serviced during multi-night stays. Eating breakfast in our room was lovely but the trash and crumbs that built up over 3 days is inviting rodents and insects. Ugly: Today I went to the website and copied this: “Our restaurant features a seasonal menu of small plates expertly paired with masterfully created cocktails, as well as live entertainment. With three elegant event spaces, we can host professional and social gatherings that are sure to impress.” I also went to hotels.com and viewed the very pictures that convinced me to pay a higher price to stay at the Morrison House. I was looking at another hotel on the waterfront and noticed that their restaurant was closed. I called and asked about it and received a run around, so booked the Morrison House. Guess what! No restaurant, no bar! Because it was before Christmas there were a lot of events. The tragedy here is that the events take over hotel space. The first night we had our wine in the beautiful room with the gas fireplace. We had an early dinner the next night to enjoy the room and wine again and we were thrown out! Wine was to be enjoyed in a dark horrible empty bar with the most uncomfortable seating possible. Even uglier: No restaurant equals no breakfast. I booked looking at a picture of a breakfast buffet. It is very important to us to start the day in the hotel casually, knowing that we would be making restaurant choices later. I was told at checkin that there was no restaurant and the grab and go was pastry and coffee. Upon arrival at breakfast there was pastries and fruit. I went to Starbucks to augment selection and returned to find the very thing I bought now filling the ice filled tub! Be smart, if the selection is limited ask for more. It is not a bad grab and go, much like Marriott airline catered food. But, they really want you to go. A beautiful dining area had all of the tables and chairs stacked up and was only available to breakfast events staged at the hotel. If they can stage an event why can they not stage breakfast for guests? A helpful hint: I read reviews and read that there was no hot water for more than 1 customer. I booked anyway, sounded incredible for this level of hotel. We were on the top floor, the shower is amazing!!!!, just let it run full hot for a good 5 minutes and it will be wonderfully hot! Annoying: The event planner who was selling the space to a MOB & Bride in the “bar” during the wine hour and who seemed to be everywhere treating the guests as impediments to her job.…
