Stayed there for three nights for a conference. Staff were great! No complaints there. But a few little things added up to a two-star review. The sink in the bathroom had very, very little water pressure. The shower was difficult to adjust and there was no exhaust fan for the bath. Even though it was 45 degrees outside, our room was uncomfortably warm. Thermostat was set for heating and I had it down to 68. Room was 72. I didn't really get it comfortable for sleeping until I turned on the AC. Minimum setting was 69. That turned out to be OK for sleeping. I mentioned we were there for a conference. The food provided was good and plentiful, but the warmers must have been defective. Cold scrambled eggs and sausage is not a great way to start the day.
My family and I travel a great deal, and when we look for hotels to say at, we are looking for a high quality, modern hotel with great location, and fair pricing. The Westin Old Town Alexandria checks all of these boxes and more! A short distance from the water in Old Town, and walking distance to many attractions, this was a perfect place for a stay-cation for us. Everyone from the restaurant workers, to the front desk staff, to the manager Paul was exceptionally generous and accommodating. The rooms were modern, and of course had the heavenly beds that were so comfortable! The Westin brand delvers excellence every time, and this was no exception. I highly recommend this hotel!
If you want to work at this hotel think twice, they close the restaurant area leaving you no where to work other than the cold lobby … Talking to reception was a blank experience , sorry that’s all we have, computer says no. Which is shame as they have an endless supply of empty function rooms and on the day I’m sure one could have been repurposed to help solve our predicament. Just an example of no customer problem innovation from the Marriott team. when will hotels stop maximising profit and think about the customers …. Poor show Marriott
Not much amenities to offer, one restaurant only with limited offerings. Great rooms and view. You wont be disappointed if you don't expect much. Once again, good for business trips but i would look for other options if you have different purpose to stay.
We stayed here for two nights and liked the hotel overall. In terms of facilities at the hotel, there’s a gym and although there’s not room service, there is a restaurant in the lobby with a bar. Our room (617) was big and very comfortable with a desk, office chair, king size bed, and two chairs with an accent table and small ottoman. The room also had an empty mini fridge and single serving old school type of coffee maker with per-measured single serving Starbucks filters. There was also two wine glasses and a wine key in the cabinet with the fridge. I found the mattress to be a little too firm for me the first night, but after asking for 2 firmer pillows I was more comfortable. The water pressure was a little light in the shower and toilet, but that is common with hotels. Location-wise there is a shuttle to downtown Alexandria, and the Metro and VRE Stations are a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. Price wise the Westin was very affordable and their pet fee is only $25 per night, which is a very good deal for short stays. It was nice to have the in room coffee, but the machines were noisy and slow, I recommend they upgrade to k-pods.…
I stayed at the Westin Alexandria earlier this month on business due to my usual corporate rate being unavailable at the nearby Residence Inn Duke. The hotel did a good job recognizing my Marriott status, offering free breakfast vouchers and an upgrade to a large suite. The room was overall nice and clean, if a bit dated in the furnishings. The room upgrade gave me the opportunity to host a couple of local friends for a casual catch-up, which was much appreciated. The daily breakfast buffet (free with Platinum or above Marriott status) is excellent—a mix of traditional American breakfast fare as well as healthier options like fresh fruit. The servers were attentive with drinks and taking away plates. Overall, a good Alexandria hotel that I would recommend, especially to those with business at the Federal courthouse on the other side of the street.…
Glad we stayed here. The hotel was immaculate. The bell staff always opened the door for us and greeted us each time we walked in. The elevators were super fast and the room was exceptional. We were upgraded to a larger room and it was perfect for the visit. The restaurant was not too bad and the only thing is I normally do not like to leave the car with a valet but they were fast and friendly. You text them and they reply an give you a time to come get the car. Make sure you have some money handy as they do overwhelm you and begin to grab bags and park the car. I was unprepared and had to remember who to tip later on in the visit. The room air was perfect and the visit was fantastic.
This was the second time that I stayed at this property. The rooms are superb! The guest experience is superb! The location is superb! The Trademark restaurant is INFESTED!! I was rather dehydrated after trekking through Arlington National Cemetery for two hours in the oppressive sun. I arrived at the hotel, dropped my rented vehicle with the valet, checked in and went to my room. I rehydrated...continuously...cooled down and had a shower. Everything was as it should be. Then, around 7pm, I went downstairs to the Trademark restaurant. I ordered the fish and chips and a glass of pinot noir. After devouring my dinner, I turned in wonder why the place was so noisy despite the few people in the space. It was then that I saw a cockroach on the floor. I rather loudly told a nearby server that there was a cockroach on the floor. She jumped into action, trying to stomp the creature, but it scurried around another 12-15 feet before she got it. No apologies. No surprise. No discount. Nothing...just pride in her marksmanship. I don't know about you, but this encounter should NEVER occur on a Westin property. I will NEVER go into that restaurant again. I may never stay there again. What do you think?…
The hotel is centrally located in Alexandria, VA. There are some restaurant around but not much to shop. The room was large with good amenities. Breakfast was great but could be better with more varieties.
I was here for a small, 3-day conference, and was really impressed. I had a great experience from check-in to departure. I had a number of opportunities to interact with the front desk, and they were always very friendly and efficient. The hotel itself is out a bit from town center, so it was pretty quiet, which was nice. I could walk into Old Town pretty easily, though, and the train was also close by. I would definitely stay again.
