Had a nice stay. The hotel was clean. The staff were attentive and accommodating. The location is good. There are many restaurants in the area. The hotel is pet friendly. There were many guests with their dogs. Our room was across from a guest with a dog, only heard it barked a couple of times.
We had the most friendly experience at this location. My husband planned a weekend away for My bday and Wendell the gentleman that checked us in as extremely kind and provided us with an amazing reception. He gave us 2 free breakfast coupons as well as a complimentary bottle of vino. He even sent a bday wish via text and was very kind the entire evening of our arrival. We love this hotel and would recommend staying here in a hearbeat!
The staff was so courteous , professional ,attentive and knowledgeable . Our check in was quick and easy and we were greeted warmly , they even greeted our dog affectionately !The beautiful room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with updated furniture. We had a balcony which was really nice to be able to see the beautiful area the hotel is in. We never stayed in Alexandria but this is where we will stay whenever in the DC area. Thank you for making our stay such a great experience , we love Kimpton properties and the Lorien shines!
I’ve stayed at this property a few times in the past few years and am writing about my most recent stay. This hotel is located in the center of beautiful Alexandria. It’s so easy to get to from DCA or major highways. They remodeled in the past few years I believe. It’s very cozy and modern. White spaces and gray accents of fabric and concrete. They have a cobblestone courtyard that is filled with lights year round. You’ll pass it when you enter. Parking is valet or street. We arrived on a holiday and parking that day was free. They are operated valet currently though. It’s $25 I believe. Staff is laid back and cordial as expected at Kimpton’s. I felt like I was visiting an old friend. Rawan had reached out prior to our arrival. Wendell was efficient and friendly at check in. All properties have replaced the mini bar with a Bodega at the front desk. The Lorien has a well appointed selection of beverages and snacks. We had a suite with a king bed. It had a separate living area, bedroom, and bathroom with a soaking tub and large shower. Layout in some of these rooms is a little strange in that the walls are angled. Plenty of space for our one night stay. The large windows over looked the courtyard and there was even a small balcony. The room was very clean. Brabo is their in house restaurant and they were serving grab and go breakfast. The oatmeal and juice hit the spot! Checkout was a breeze and there is a key drop box. Obviously I didn’t do my research. I have been a guest at “The Kimpton” before. Wonderful experience. Not this one. The previous location of the Kimpton Hotel is now The Alexandria. Apparently, Kimpton took over a new Hotel. Horrible experience. I was in DC for My Fathers funeral at ANC. A charge for a suite and valet parking and breakfast. None of those existed. I found myself walking down the street at 5am to get a cup of coffee. Kimpton doesn’t put coffee out until 7:30. I pretty much begged for a cup of coffee, answer, no and sorry. This isn’t a COVID related issue. I travel for a living. It’s an excuse to go cheap. No Kleenex in the room, no water, no coffee maker. I would not recommend this Hotel/Spa.
