All rooms are upstairs a fairly narrow staircase covered with plants. The rooms were clean but I did not like the smells in the room. The owner was very considerate, but her taste goes to hundreds of knick knacks everywhere. Her breakfast was excellent. Not terribly expensive for an Abingdon B&B which by and large were quite high.

We stayed for the weekend with 2 other couples while we biked the Creeper Trail and visited The Barter theater. The location of Shepherd's Joy is perfect for those activities, and if you also like good food, beer and wine, it is also perfect for those! The Wolf Hills Brewery is just around the corner, as is Rain restaurant. The...

Joyce is the perfect, gracious hostess. This is not so much a business as it is her way of welcoming guests to her family home, making friends, and using her cooking skills to entertain. We walked to the Barter Theatre one night and we were delighted and surprised as she met us at the front door of the theatre to...

Our stay at Shepherd's Joy was just that...a joy! Joyce provides everything you could imagine you would need, and much more. Her breakfasts are five star events. (We even skipped lunch one day.) This beautiful Victorian home is comfortable and very close to downtown Abingdon. Joyce made several wonderful suggestions that kept us as busy as we wanted to be....

This 4 guest-room B&B has been restored to its original Victorian charm, but not in a "fussy" way. One feels completely comfortable and at home. The hosts are friendly without being intrusive, and Joyce's breakfast was simply superb. We didn't even think about lunch until well into the afternoon! We stayed in Abington b/c of the Barter Theatre, but we...

We chose to return to Sheperd's Joy after a wonderful experience on our anniversary last year. We went to the barter as we did last year and enjoyed a lovely dinner in town. Breakfast was just as good this year as last, and we plan to spend our anniversary here next year again. It's a great getaway, peaceful, and charming....

My mother and I went to Abingdon and stayed at Shepherd's Joy for a short get-away treat for ourselves. The furnishings were charming and the food was delicious. I enjoyed all the special touches and the hospitality. We slept wonderfully. The only thing I regretted was not being able to see the sheep, as they were away so that the...

While planning my business trip to Abingdon, I contacted Shepherd's Joy to enquire concerning their ability to host a business traveler. Joyce responded that despite the fact that they were busy preparing for NASCAR guests for the weekend race in Bristol, I was welcome. My scheduled arrival was planned for 6pm but I ended up arriving at 10:45pm. Both Joyce...

Shepherd's Joy is a beautiful old farmhouse on a working sheep farm. Its setting is peaceful and quiet, even though it is only a short walk to all the attractions of downtown Abingdon. Our bedroom had windows on three sides, a lovely canopied bed, and an old clawfoot tub in the bathroom. Owners Joyce and Jack were extremely friendly and...
