The Alta Peruvian Lodge garners a reputation for its spirited and convivial atmosphere, with a mix of communal spaces, live music, and a family-friendly environment that guests consistently enjoy. While opinions on the lodge's value vary, many acknowledge the added worth of inclusive meals and its prime location. The heated pool and hot tubs frequently receive praise, although some suggest there's room for enhancement.
The rooms might be on the smaller side, yet they exude a welcoming charm. Service at the lodge is often lauded for its warmth and helpful shuttle service.

Love the old character of the lodge, great food, welcoming staff and service, and proximity to the base lift. Room was cozy. Demo shop was very helpful in choosing appropriate skis for the conditions.

The Peruvian has changed my opinion on lodge living. This is a very special place full of repeat customers who love the friendly atmosphere, unbeatable location and friendly but relaxed service. The rooms are very comfortable, the amenities great (laundry, hot tub, three meals a day) and we loved the community atmosphere in the restaurant and lounge. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were amazing. Thank you for a great stay!

We had a great time there and met a bunch of great staff and guests. Many of the guests have been returning for 20 or more years.
The rooms are simple but clean. We stayed in one of the Alpine rooms. We didn't spend a ton of time in the room. We rested after skiing and then sat either in the lobby area chatting with people or downstairs in the "movie" room with fireplace, sitting areas and a TV. They had movies every night but we never made it to one. There was a piano in that area and often someone playing.
The dinner was good and had varied choices. It was fun to sit at a group table at night meeting new people from all around. It had a European feel. I'd prefer a half board option (breakfast and dinner). It was a little bit out of the way to head back for lunch each day. Lunch did seem to be the same each day and wasn't as good as dinner. The bar is very popular and crowded.
The ski room had individual lockers. There were not boot dryers. People seemed to just leave their boots outside their room doors in the hallway to dry.
Finally, the staff was great. We accidentally left a wallet behind and they found it and returned it by fed ex fully intact.
We will definitely plan a trip back there.

The Peruvian is an anomaly is this day and age, an independent, small anti corporate hotel. It is not fancy and feels more like a mountain hut than a hotel. No TV’S in the rooms, the rooms are small and many do not have bathrooms. This lets guests congregate by the fire and play games, play the guitar or read a book. For dinner you sit with other guests and get to meet many interesting people who stay at the Peruvian. It is the location, guests and staff that make this place so special and why people come back year after year.

+1
The rooms are small but this is not a luxury accommodation (and they don'tpromote themselves as such) - it is strictly "sji-centric". The cost includes 3 meals a deal and is basic but well-prepared. The staff is especially helpful and will drive you to the base lift at Altas or the short drive down the road to Snowbird. They will also pick you up as well. The lodge features a hot tub and pool.

This historic building, originally a hospital barracks from WW2, was moved into place in 1948. It’s had some renovations over the years; the most recent major one appears to have been early in the Clinton Administration.
Although shabby, it had a rustic charm. In non-Covid years there’s a very communal vibe and the service and food were excellent. One can imagine people gathered around the grand piano downstairs after dinner and drinks (this year they had to move it into the corner because the roof leaks were so bad).
My issue was the price: $4100 for two people for five nights. This bought a weathered 10x12’ room with two single beds, a 4’x4’ bathroom with a temperamental toilet and a parking lot view. The price does include all your meals, and the food was consistently good-excellent. Not included is any ski expenses: The hotel rents skis, their prices were full retail plus, and the Alta lift tickets are some of the most expensive anywhere.
Alta, and the Alta Peruvian Lodge, was a nice place with friendly people, good service, good skiing and gorgeous scenery. I’m not sure it was worth the world class prices, especially when a very similar experience can be had one valley north at Solitude at a substantial price advantage. This is especially true of the Peruvian, which despite good service is 30 years past its prime and looks to have fallen on hard times.

The staff are the absolute highlight of the stay here. Everyone was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. If you've never been before, I recommend asking for a room facing the lifts / resort side of the mountain, otherwise you'll be woken at 6am every morning by a snow plough.
The best way I can describe the food, is that everything felt tired. When paying over $400 a night for a room, I hoped for more than styrofoam cups for coffee & hamburgers every lunch. All of the salads were just greens thrown together by a chef that obviously doesn't eat salad or taste the dressings (some berry concoction was inedible). If you're gluten free or vegetarian, I would definitely go elsewhere. If you're a bit of a foody & would kill to see some creativity such as an Indian curry or Vietnames Pho served when it's snowing outside ... please let me know when you find it.

If you are seeking flash over substance, neon lights and a TV in your room, the APL is not your place. But if you appreciate substance over form, a classic European ski Lodge, extremely hard working and friendly staff in a Lodge with all the necessary ski amenities (incl. outdoor heated pool and hot tub, sauna, robes for all and fantastic meals) in a gorgeous location (at the foot of Alta ski only area) with no less than world class skiing (and snowboarding at Snowbird down the way) then look no further than the Alta Peruvian Lodge. Oh, and also, the APL has within the Lodge the “P-dog,” the consistently ranked number 1 “after ski” bar in the country, serving free popcorn and often outstanding live music worth dancing on top of the tables while still in your ski vest. No better place for a classic ski vacation, Period.

I cannot say enough good things about the Peruvian, and cannot imagine staying anywhere else. Year after year, they never disappoint. The staff is always welcoming, fun, and available for whatever you may need. It's a true skiers lodge, so don't expect a ritzy stay (there aren't even TV's). It doesn't matter that the rooms are small, because you'll spend the entire day on the mountain, hanging out by the large fireplace, in the hot tub, at the bar, or eating one of the amazing meals that are included. Once you go, you'll keep going back - whether you start out solo, with a group, or as a couple. You'll see generations of families - it's very common for parents go and make friends, eventually bring their kids, and then end up bringing their grandkids 20+ years later. It's that special. I cannot recommend the Peruvian enough!

This was our second stay at Alta Peruvian Lodge. It is a perfect location to ski Alta and Snowbird. Peruvian has an old school ski lodge vibe. No TVs in rooms, large common area for socializing, outdoor pool and hot tubs, and a fun upstairs bar. Three meals per day are included in the price, and seating at dinner is family style. The food is very good, especially dinner. The dining room set up facilitates socializing with other guests, all of whom are hard-core skiers. The staff is very accommodating and helpful, and the overall vibe is very laid-back and fun. It’s not a luxury hotel like a Four Seasons property, but nevertheless it is clean, comfortable, convenient and highly recommended.

Not sure but the front disk is super helpful - I suggest just calling them.
!. Yes..The rental shop at the lodge is very knowledgeable and can help.
2. Contact Canyon transportation for airport to lodge transportation. See Website for costs (or rent a car)
3. Yes....Bring your own soap or buy it there(cheaper to bring yer own)
4. See the Peruvian website. Probably the"upper end" with several beds and a bath (most expensive, but probably worth it).
5.. Lift tickets and lessons: Contact Alta ski area, look at their webpage. The folks at the Peruvian could help you with this if you give them a call.
It is a ski lodge in the real sense of the word...No video games, widescreen TV (except in the downstairs common room)
It is not fancy or flashy, but it is habit forming if you are real skiers.
