The Goldminer's Daughter Lodge is literally 30 yards from the ticket offices and ski lifts. There is a ski rental store attached to the hotel. The rooms are basic, but large and clean. Friendly staff people, free parking, and restaurants and bars available when you take a break.

We spent 7 nights at Goldminer's, and it was just fantastic! The location can't be beaten, the staff is lovely and the food is very good. Everything is very convenient, from ski shop in site, ski lockers, spacious and comfortable rooms and the Saloon, where you can have a quick lunch in the quiet while watching the slopes and enjoy the après ski. Alta ski area is a dream, and needs no comments. It's our second time at Goldminer's Lodge, with more to come.

A perfect place to call home for time on the mountain. The food is great and very plentiful with a lot of choices. The location can't be beat (after a few hours on the mountain it's easy to come down for something to eat, hang by the fireplace then head out for the afternoon and grab the last chair.) The snacks in the saloon were always welcome. The staff is super helpful. It's a skier's lodge so not for someone looking for the resort experience with shopping and luxury. Our room was comfy and perfect for our needs.

Over 35 years have returned to GMD many times, always a great time until now. Used the massage for the first time and the therapist forged our bill, adding a hefty tip after we had left. We were lucky to notice this detail on our bill. Reporting this to the lodge and spa managers, they took a long time to respond and the spa manager could not have been lamer in her response and handling of this situation. In addition, the staff in the dining hall has suffered with some of the longest wait times for service failed to properly clean and wipe the tables. The virus had already started so it was doubly lame to not have the place clean. I have had wonderful times in the past and would have tried again had they handled this better. Warning - not worth it, plenty of other places far more worth the dollars.

Pros:
Staff was helpful
Clean rooms

Cons:
Rooms smelled so bad… actually everywhere in the hotel smelled bad
You can hear your neighbours (bathroom every time of the day or the night and all conversations) and the vehicles outside (trash trucks, trucks, cars,…)
The room wasn’t heated when we arrived. So we were freezing the first night.
The food was less than average.
Price is too expensive for what it is.

We were there to visit friends and we were super disappointed by the hotel. We came all the way from Europe and the reviews of this hotel were so good that we had waited for a better service, especially with the price we paid per night.

I don’t think we will go back to that hotel.

My husband and I spent 6 nights at this hotel (Jan 28-Feb 2, 2024). It is ski in-ski out and close to the Collins lift. Rooms are spartan (no mirror except in the bathroom, no clock, no safe box and the room phone did not work). The bed was old and not comfortable. The clothes hangers are very high and impractical (6 feet, 8 inches high). There is lot of noise coming from other rooms (TV, conversations, slamming doors, bathrooms) and from vehicles outside (trucks and cars). The dining room was incredibly noisy with big tables of guests (mostly men) that were clearly drunk and obnoxious. Food is average and service needs attention. There is nobody at the front desk after 11PM. They do not provide daily maid service, with the excuse that they do not have enough personnel. This is not acceptable given the cost of the rooms. Overall, it is good for skiing, but it is not a relaxing and pleasant environment. They offer a discount for recurring customers, but I do not think that we will go back to this hotel.

Overall, I had an exceptional time at Goldminer's Daughter Lodge. The rates were very competitive, the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast and dinners were delicious & plentiful, and most of the employees were kind and helpful.

I wish I could have given this stay 5 stars (it deserves it), but I must provide honest feedback about my grievances regarding EDDIE, the manager of this establishment. Although he remained professional throughout the interaction, he was uninterested in helping me with my blight of having an SUV stuck in 20 inches of fresh snow. His only solution was to tell me to "take a shovel and deal with it yourself. We're busy. If you don't finish, you can continue working on it after you get back from skiing at 4 PM." His response was very dismissive, rushed, and condescending. He didn't even extend the courtesy of asking someone from his team to help. After shoveling snow for 20 minutes, I see him sitting at reception, doing nothing. This is an absolutely UNACCEPTABLE attitude towards guests.

However, as a saving grace, the other employees at Goldminer's Daughter Lodge were PHENOMENAL. Two different employees noticed me struggling to shovel snow and immediately got a shovel and helped me. If not for these kind folks, I would have missed my flight.

Hi Jason, We’re sorry you had this experience. The GMD, including Eddie, usually goes out of their way to help our guests. You may have caught us on an early morning when we received a lot of snow and weren’t fully staffed. We hope this doesn’t deter you from joining us again in the future. -GMD Management

GMD has been our go to for the past six years. Despite reduced staff in restaurant due to COVID, I want to mention how hard the young men and women work to serve. Several of them had returned from last year (Elizabeth, Berry and Cass). Luke, George and Thomas. Thank you for your kindness. We wish you all the best in your next season adventure!

The only plus of this hotel is the proximity to the ski lift. Very expensive in relation to the hotel class, which I wouldn't assign more than two stars
1. No tea or coffee in the room
2. Ski locker was built long ago; it is not big enough to accommodate two pairs of current skis.
3.No safe in the room
4.No boot drier in the locker room
5.No mirror in the room
6.No any clock in the room
7. To hang your cloth, you have to be 6 feet tall
8. staff must be properly trained, especially in the restaurants

We are sorry to hear about any issues you encountered during your stay. We are a rustic lodge that prioritizes the ski in ski out experience. Although our prices may seem high, we continue to be one of the less expensive accommodations at Alta, while being the closets to the main lifts. Again, we are sorry we could not provide all of the accommodations that you were looking for.

Great location at a magnificent mountain. Family vibe is surviving C19. Best of Gold Miners is the Staff and the Dining. Could use some updating in furnishings and aesthetics but then again it’s part of the family charm.
Shout out to George,Luke, and Berry in the Dining Room...Great service and great attitudes.
Highly recommended

There was no microwave or coffee machine in my room although the saloon serves coffee and pastries at 6:00, and Trainer welcomes guests as soon as the coffee is brewed (about 5:00) to grab a coffee to go.

Good Morning, Can you send me your email address? I can have our Front Desk look into availability for slope-facing rooms during your stay. This service will not let me provide links, but there is information on cross-country skiing on the Alta Chamber Site / Discover Alta under experience. Thanks for reaching out! February 1 will be here before we know it. Meisha Goldminer's Daughter Lodge
