Over 35 years have returned to GMD many times, always a great time until now. Used the massage for the first time and the therapist forged our bill, adding a hefty tip after we had left. We were lucky to notice this detail on our bill. Reporting this to the lodge and spa managers, they took a long time to respond and the spa manager could not have been lamer in her response and handling of this situation. In addition, the staff in the dining hall has suffered with some of the longest wait times for service failed to properly clean and wipe the tables. The virus had already started so it was doubly lame to not have the place clean. I have had wonderful times in the past and would have tried again had they handled this better. Warning - not worth it, plenty of other places far more worth the dollars.

I love the GMD. Oiur ski group does an annual trip so I may be a little bias. Great value, close to Collins chair. Fine breakfast and dinner included. It is an old time ski feel. Friendly staff mostly young skiers. Friendly guests willing to share good nugs about their ski days and powder finds.

Rustic lodge in perfect ski in / ski out location. Pricey, but when you consider you get breakfast and dinner included it's a decent value. You can walk across parking lot to Peruvian Bar. They have a free shuttle service to Snowbird which is also very convenient. If you are at Alta to ski, this place has everything and is a good choice. If you are looking for gourmet meals and refined table service with a great wine list, this is not the place. They do need to spruce this place up a bit as it is getting very dated and tired in some ways.

The saloon on second floor is great spot for lunch. Great views and warm fireplaces, foozball and big TV to catch a few minutes of the game in between runs. Try the nachos and the Pizza for sure. The beer is always frosty!

There was a rank smell coming from the kitchen, the food sucked, but mostly just Alta’s elitist attitude is such a buzzkill. To be a purist one should have to ski on 2,5 meter wooden telemarks with leather boots and no edges. The staff was very rude to our friends with snowboard boots on their feet who just came to hang out with their friends and eat beer and pizzas. No reason for rudeness ever, and especially not to customers. 🤦‍♂️

Response from goldminersdaughter, General Manager at Goldminer's Daughter Lodge
Responded Feb 23, 2019
The GMD is happy to serve anyone who shows our employees respect. Many of the the employees you are claiming wouldn’t serve you because you snowboard are snowboarders themselves. The bottom line is no one gets kicked out of our lodge unless they make our guests, employees, or both, feel threatened.
