Sheets are so very soft! Rustler's Lodge is a skiers lodge! Forgot to bring "real shoes" so went to the dining room in my ski socks and made friends with an 8 yr old boy, also in socks sans shoes, having dinner with his family. The food is over the top delicious and a menu with endless entree choices. The wait staff (all skiers of course) are attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and full of personality!

Hotel's Favorite
We have been at the Rustler several times and ski a lot in Utah and Colorado so I can reliably report on what is undeniably the best ski lodging experience in existence . Once one shows up ( easy shuttle ride from airport ) everything is looked after. Ski rental is in the building as is the outdoor hot tub, heated outdoor pool and the spa for massages. Buffet breakfast daily and three course sit down dinner plus dessert is included in the price of lodging . Ski in and ski out with ski locker Rope tow at the base takes you to main lifts The hotel has its own chairlift ! Hotel bar Laundry Library and games room Friendly staff Complementary snacks around 5 Extensive selection of skis for rental Can bring your own wine for dinner, corking fee We have stayed in Mountain View rooms and in lower level rooms . All good , as mostly one just sleeps in the rooms Remember to book your dinner time before you come for the first night or 2. Book your massage ahead too. ALTA is a great mountain , ski only , and the Rustler makes it even better. Can cross over to Snowbird at the top and ski there too. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Rustler. It takes all the annoyance factor out of the ski trip so you can enjoy the skiing without the fuss factor.

We have been skiing at Alta for almost fifty years, and staying at The Rustler for most of that time. Kate and Tom and the team are always fun to be with, and watching the hospitality remain consistent from one century to the next is a real testimony to the attention to all the important details. Keep your tips up in the steeps and deeps!

I first came to the Rustler 20 years ago, and it never disappoints in the warmth of its service, its convenience to the mountain, its enveloping atmosphere, and meal options that change daily. Alta is for skiers, not shoppers or posers. The Rustler nestles really well into that context.

We were skiing at Alta and a snowstorm hit earlier than forecasted, so me and my three daughters got stranded up at Alta. The roads were terrible and people were stuck all down the mountain, so there was a line of cars 3 hours long. And (this one's on me) we didn't have enough gas to wait in the line for several hours with the car on (it was 11 degrees outside). So we decided to go to the Rustler lodge and get some dinner to wait out the traffic. When we arrived, since we weren't guests, I explained our situation and asked if they had any rooms available (they didn't) or if I could sit in the almost completely empty dining room and buy dinner for my family. They refused saying that the dining room was reserved for guests. So I asked them if we could wait in one of the similarly almost empty sitting rooms while the traffic died down a bit and they said no, essentially turning us out into the storm. I rarely post a negative review, but I was so disappointed with the lack of humanity that I felt it was warranted in this case. With that, we walked up the road to the SnowPine Inn and received exactly the opposite treatment. Apparently, they have the same "guests only" rule, but they waived it due to the storm and welcomed us to come in and buy dinner and sit by the fire. They offered us the use of chargers for our phones and were kind and generous to us while we waited. We were so grateful.

I am so sorry that we were not able to be your harbor in a storm! We have been very challenged this year in having the good fortune to be at capacity but that has meant that we are not able to host guests not staying at our Lodge. I apologize for not being able to accommodate you and your family--we'd welcome that opportunity in the future. I am so glad that you found a room at the Snowpine and were able to stay in Alta. Hopefully you've found your Lodge home and I think that is terrific. Wishing you many snowy days and fireplace stays in your future, Sheridan Davis, Assistant Manager, Alta's Rustler Lodge

In my opinion, and in my over 57 years of being a lucky guy who has gotten to travel and see the world, the Rustler is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Why? The mix of casual comfort and high level of service and care, friendly staff, great rooms, delicious food, the best hot tub and pool set up anywhere, its location as a ski in and ski out to one of the most magic ski mountains in the world (a skiiers' paradise), the heart stopping views, and on and on --- it's just a very special place. The manger of the Hotel - Kate Pollard (along with her husband Tom - former mayor of Alta) - is a consummate pro. She is always head down and working, handles people with an unteachable mix of warmth and "no bs," manages her staff to be friendly and competent, always handles difficult issues with aplomb (I recently witnessed her deal directly and seriously with a group of men who had harassed one of her waitresses and she somehow managed to treat them like the kindergartners they had acted like while also being calm and actually kind about the whole mess). Kate and Tom put the Rustler over the top, and it was already my favorite place to stay. I am sure others may find something to nit pick, but not this happy guest. Can't wait to go back.....

Thank you for your high praise, return visits, and well-deserved accolades for Kate and Tom Pollard. Our culture of hospitality starts at the top with the owner of the Rustler, Jeff Anderson, and has been maintained and expanded by the Pollards for decades. It is an honor to be part of this storied lodge and guest focused traditions, including the majority of guest like yourself who have been returning to stay here for years and years. We are so fortunate! Thank you for your kind words and choosing the Rustler. We're humbled by your loyalty. With kind regards, Sheridan Davis, Assistant Manager, Alta's Rustler Lodge

We always stay here. Rustler has the best food, location and amenities in little cottonwood. Prefer Alta over snowbird because the snow is better and it’s got a better atmosphere. Couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else
