This is a great hotel! phantastic! Also the location is very central. only short walk from the Capitol and only short walk to the bridge where you see the bats flying at dawn! Live Music in the bar is great and also smaller snacks available. This is a historic place and you see it everywhere. Everything very good maintained and clean - perfect service. Just be sure to check your bill before leaving. Somebody had used our room number to order snacks and drinks in the bar. But this is something you should do everywhere and is not specific for this hotel as I think.

We arrived a bit early but room wasn’t ready. I had two rooms. We went to lunch and came back. Room was clean. Black light picked up nothing! Treats were excellent, kids enjoyed the candy a bit too much. We found out about the tours as we came down.. but that should be more prominent in the room. Also local highlights could be more prominent. Setting up WiFi took some investigating work. Only one device connected. Everyone we met was exceptionally polite and genuinely kind. The only suggestion is to employ the towel/linen floor option. I would also advise to stop busking key-based safes. Although I see why we would want to use the actual bank vault—which I did. I had trouble opening my box. Parking is an issue and we were constantly worried we’d find the car damaged or vandalized—didn’t happen. Otherwise I truly enjoyed my stay.

Great historic hotel in Austin. Reportedly ghosts but did not see one - did hear a chain rattle on our door during the night. Great breakfast place in the hotel. Rooms very nice with high ceilings and wainscot. Good bar and live music on Thurs- Saturday. Would definitely recommend as the place to stay in Austin. Walking distance to restaurants and music.

Beautiful historic hotel near 6th St. was a great central location. Rooms are small but charming. Hotel lobby is comfortable and pretty. The Cafe was wonderful and the bar was fun. If you stay there, take the free tour of the property.

The elegant historical ambiance and well prepared food doesn't compensate for idiosyncratic function of the hotel nor the room pricing. Visit the lobby, have a drink at the bar (and maybe breakfast without a beverage) and you will have experienced everything good that the Driskill has to offer.

Just one of my favorite hotels - beautiful! On a trip with my husband several years ago (note review requires I pick a date only going back to 2023), I woke up in the middle of the night, as I often do, and while laying there a white cloudy shape of a woman came gliding towards me from the rear of the bed up towards my side of the bed. As I watched her move, she was transparent and I could see through her the art work pieces on the wall. When she got close to me - obviously I was stunned and a bit terrified - I rolled and reached over to grab my husband and she was gone. Next morning I was telling him about it and he said that he was lying on his side toward me and he felt someone sit on the edge of the bed behind him. We only had a reservation for one night, unfortunately. When we went downstairs later and told the concierge about our ghost experience, he just looked at us, didn't say anything. We didn't make note of the room we were in but we were several floors up as I like to have a view.

When my 14 year old granddaughter, asked if we could go to a rock concert on UT campus, it was all things you love about Austin. The Driskill was perfect. Location, location, location ! We had a great time and Austin is such a welcoming place. It just has all the extra makings that so many chain hotels are lacking. It exudes character and history.

The Driskill is a must if staying in Austin. It is as much a destination in itself as simply a place to lay your head. This was my second time at The Driskill, but the first for my wife. I am affraid there will be no other options in the future!
