The oldest operating hotel in Austin, TX yet so we’ll maintained by Hyatt. A historic landmark gives a sense of aristocracy Inspite of the room’s modern conveniences. Staff were friendly and they were helpful by suggesting places to visit that were now open for business during this COVID-19 period.

1-I walk in...people not wearing masks in the lobby yet the front desk rudely asked me to put the mask on.When I showed the people in the lobby, she told me they will be warned.I said I will wait till that happens, then she walked to warn the people. 2-At 1am, I asked for drinking water at the front desk and the answer was this:”We dont have any water for guests at the moment sir”.When I asked well i need to drink water..she said“there is a fridge at the desk and it is empty”. I asked for Manager, she said she was the manager. I took the GMs card & left. When i was back in the lobby 30 min after, she was on the way to bring me water. 3-Went down for brunch. After placing our orders we are given the drinks and were told to sit down for our food.I signed the check but did not leave the tip because i was going to do it at the table. One jerk in register standing next to the guy who is taking the order said this: SIR PLEASE TOTAL THIS CHECK OUT AND WE WILL BRING YOUR FOOD” literally yelling. I took it easy and left the proper amount of tip.I ordered spanich and cheese burrito, instead i got something else.Since no one was checking the tables I had to walk back to kitchen and told them about the wrong order. They brought the correct order after a while. No one was checking/cleaning the table so as we were done eating,i myself had to take some plates that is finished at the table back to the kitchen counter, we needed a space. When I did that,a rude server, asked me what i was doing and if she could help.I said yes you can help with cleaning. She followed me back to my table and said what was that all about in front of my guests I was having brunch with.I told her no one was cleaning the table so i did myself, she said she is not allowed to clean the table until we leave because of COVID.I said so you can bring plates but you cant pick them up? She said yes. Not even once a server checked on us. 3-I checked out, called the hotel couple days after to talk to GM. I was asked reason of call, I said my stay. I was transferred to the voice mail of the FOM instead. This happened twice.I did not leave a message since that is not the person I was trying to reach.I called GM’s direct line the next day and left a message.Again, FOM called me and told me that GM forwarded my message to her so she can assist me.What a piece of jerk! I told the FOM all these problems. She apologized and told me she would deliver this to the GM. I told her I still demanded a call from GM, he did not call. P.S. I was staying in their presidential suite #250.

We had the most fabulous time at The Driskill over Labor Day Weekend 2020. From the Valet guys to the Front Desk to Miguel at the 1886 Cafe. The breakfast, which was included in our package, was AMAZING! The Avocado Toast with Truffle Oil was one of the most fantastic things I have ever had. The Driskill is absolutely gorgeous with etched and stained glass. This hotel is rich in history and it shows through every inch including the patched portrait of Mr. Driskill at the top of the stairs.

My Dad and I stayed here for 1 night and we loved it! We splurged since it was a bucketlist hotel. Beautiful and fancy hotel with so much history! It was like staying at a museum overnight. Loved the free upgrade and complimentary $50 breakfast at the 1886 cafe (order the paris eggs benedict and short ribs/eggs. Delicious!) Front desk staff was so lovely and friendly. She gave us a mini tour of the hotel and vault. Thanks Ellen! Our room had 2 excellent views of the city! Comfortable bed, cute vanity and chic decor. Loved the soap too. Location was perfect as you can walk to many restaurants and bars on 6th street. Fun for a Saturday night. Nice gym and steam room. Only area of improvement is valet parking. I did have an issue finding a parking garage. We had to walk an extra 6 min to the garage and our ticket wouldn't work. Parking downtown is always an issue but we still had a fantastic time! Thank you for excellent hospitality! Will definitely return!
