We love the Driskill and its quirks-- hidden elevators, possible ghosts, lively bar crowd, beautiful lobby. Our favorite festival- ATX Television Festival-- is held there every June and we try to come back other times of the years-- Especially at Christmas with the incredible tree.

Hotel's Favorite
I was vacationing in Austin, Texas and decided to try the Driskill hotel based on price, location, and it's historical lore. The check-in process was smooth, staff were attentive and polite, and gave me a free beer! When I originally booked my room I decided I wanted to stay in the historical wing of the hotel based on the room photos and the beautiful mosaics in the bathrooms. Now I did not request the haunted room, in fact quite the opposite, and to my surprise I got room #525! At first I was a bit shocked and even had trouble falling asleep, but in the end this helped me fall into a deep sleep from the exhausting of keeping my eyes open for as long as possible. Haha! Everything was fine and the breakfast at the cafe downstairs was delicious. I highly recommend the Driskill and if you're lucky - the haunted room!

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! I'm so happy to hear that you had a wonderful stay at The Driskill, and everything was smooth from the check-in process to the delicious breakfast in our 1886 Cafe & Bakery. The hotel does have many an urban legend, but I'm glad it ultimately led to a restful night sleep! I hope we'll become your home away from home anytime you're in Austin!

Good news? The hotel is centrally located. The staff is lovely, eager to please and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bad news? $60 a day to park your car. No coffee in the lobby or rooms in the morning. After spending $12 of coffee, there were free refills all morning. However, I prefer being able to make coffee in the room, or, at a minimum, get a free cup in the lobby. The steam is not working in the ladies' locker room. I understand the appeal of a Historic Hotel. The decor is totally not my vibe. I loved the location (we were seeing a show at the Paramount) and the staff was lovely. My daughter and I were blown away at how friendly the people who work at the hotel are. They go above and beyond to welcome and help guests. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. Just a few minor tweaks.

Very nice and elegant hotel. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 due to a festival inside hotel at the time we went. We had to maneuver through their lines to get from our room to the elevator. The Service desk was very helpful. The Bar and Grill was extremely busy and the service was still excellent.

Lack of customer service - “Discover Driskill History” package is not worth it at all. Double charged for Tea Time that was included with package. Spent 45 mins on hold to get to billing department. Waste of time. Insane price for lack of any customer service. 6th street is disgusting and loud. The entire block smells like piss.

Hi Tom, thank you so much for your honest feedback. Our Discover Driskill History package offers some wonderful inclusions to enhance your experience during your stay, including a personalized Afternoon Tea experience. We do also have an Afternoon Tea event nearly every weekend as part of the offerings at the hotel. Since everything is included in the room rate for your stay, the double charge is definitely concerning. If you originally attempted to reach out to the Hyatt central billing, I would recommend reaching out to us at the hotel directly, as we will be able to assist you as well. I do hope you'll return and allow us to exceed all expectations in the future.

A few misses in service and TV quality made paying the high price’s painful. Restaurant was too crowded causing staff to rush and make mistakes. Hire more staff or lower prices. I probably won’t stay again unless there’s a discount involved.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel was very clean, rooms are updated and well appointed. Fridge in room and safe (has a key) which is strange. You get free Lone Star beer upon check in! You can literally walk the entire city from the hotel and it’s right on 6th street where all the bars and bands play. The police shut down the street on the weekends so people can walk the streets.

We chose this hotel because of its historical significance. The ground floor is very impressive with marble, staircases and period lighting. The location is in the heart of downtown with a 10 min walk to the state capitol. The bar on the first floor has live music every night of a good standard. There is no breakfast but it does have a bakery cafe" attached which is very good, but you often have to queue.

My husband and I stayed at the Driskill for several days (May 10 to May 12) and again (May 14 to May 18). Absolutely loved the hotel and all the people that worked there. we stayed for 2 days in the 1886 Suite which was so comfortable and quiet. (view from window wasn't great) but EVERYTHING else was fantastic . When we returned we were able to stay in the LBJ Suite. I have never enjoyed a room as much as this one-was like modern and a museum combined. WOW!!! i would also like to thank several people that went out of their way to make our stay memorable. First, of course is ELina. She contacted us before our stay to make everything perfect. She also helped us upgrading our room for the second half of our stay. Second, we would like to thank ELLA (her name is longer, but this is the name we were able to call her). She works in the Driskill breakfast Market. Third, LOUIS,one of the servers at the bar. He told us so many interesting things about the history of Driskill. Once again a unique hotels with great people.

Hi there! Thank you so much for your kind words about your recent visits to The Driskill! I'm so happy to hear that you had such a wonderful time with us, and that our incredible team helped to make your stay extra special. The LBJ suite is truly a unique experience, as it was once the unofficial home away from home for LBJ and Lady Bird when he was president. I do hope we'll be welcoming you back in again soon!
