This hotel needs updating. Historic is lovely but please, if you need that much air freshener, you might want to replace the carpeting. Room was clean but just everything is so old and "done." Oh, and the walls, paper thin. I could hear every word my next door neighbor said to her two teenage daughters! And if you want coffee in the morning, go to Caroline's - it opens at 6AM. Fantastic people there. The lady at the front desk had NO IDEA where to get coffee until after 7 AM! Not a business hotel in my book if you can't get service early.
This is a slice of Texas history worth experiencing first hand! It is a great location right in the heart of downtown with no need for a car....tons to see at your doorstep....rooms and bed/bedding are very nice...comfortable. This is on the higher end of my typical price point but I felt it was well worth the cost!
We had a lovely three night stay here and had a suite with a balcony (there are only a few that do) we sat out there a few times to relax. The bedroom and little living room area were really nice, but the bathroom is pretty snug! The toiletries were lovely though so I can forget the size. We had breakfast in the cafe each day which was really pleasant, the pastries are delicious!! We had drinks in the bar on two evenings, what a lovely bar it is.. The drinks were great and so was the service. We parked in Littlefield parking lot just across the road - it was 24 dollars for the night. The lobby area is beautiful, albeit there’s a strange drain smell near the lift.. talking of lifts… you have to wait quite a bit for one.. These are such minor little things which don’t elude from the loveliness of this hotel.. Austin itself… we had sone good meals and listened to some good music. Around the hotel and along 6th street near the bars, there are lots of homeless people. Some begging, others flat out on the pavements.. We didn’t feel threatened or anything, but just letting you know what to expect. We visited the state capital and the Bullock museum and had a walk by Ladybird lake but there’s not huge amounts to see and do here, two nights is definitely enough.…
Very nice stay at the Driscoll. Checkin service was very helpful and efficient. Little awkward requiring 2 elevators to access our room with luggage but manageable. Better signage required for breakfast process at 1886 cafe.
Wow what an amazing weekend at the Driskill! Great drinks and service! Loved the 1886 cafe as well. Very thankful for David at the valet for making our stay even better! Looking forward to our next stay here!
Stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate wedding anniversary. Loved the history of the hotel. Found out it’s on most haunted list but luckily I had no encounters! Very cool details throughout the hotel. Everything was clean, beautiful, staff helpful. Great location. Walked to everything. Will stay here again.
This beautiful, old Texas spot has great service all around. Though there’s not active room service, the cafe downstairs was easy and delicious. Special thanks to David and Jay at the valet stand for entertaining me with ghost stories at my request!
David the valet provided us the best service when we visited the Driskill Hotel. He took time away from the valet desk and potential tips, just to show us all around and gave a perfect little history tour of the beautiful hotel! It was clear he enjoys working at the Driskill and telling its stories.
My husband and I got married in Austin last weekend. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Driskill (Victorian Room) and we set our hotel block at the Driskill too. This was the best hotel we could have stayed at for wedding weekend- the entire staff was so kind and helpful. The bell men were particularly amazing- hauling all of our wedding stuff around the hotel and storing a lot of it for us. David was one of our favorite bell men! We stayed in the amazing Yellow Rose suite - we loved the high ceilings and the extra room for hosting our bridal party. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, and especially if you’re going to need quality service during your stay in Austin. We would 100% stay and host our friends and family here again.
5 out of 5. Valet was great. Very quick and speedy and provided excellent service. David was a professional which I enjoyed. He made the experience seamless. I didn't have to wait long. Would definitely be back next time I am in Austin. Very happy
