At the crossroads where Lady Bird Lake meets downtown, the LINE Austin draws influence from both the surrounding natural beauty and the creative energy that fuels the city. Once home to a jazz club that broadcast live on local radio in the late 1960s, the hotel is part of downtown Austin history and holds a cultural legacy within its walls as unique as the city itself. The LINE is centrally located downtown among Austin's most interesting cultural treasures. Every direction offers something to discover: walk north for a museum day at The Blanton and The Contemporary or ride a bike to the east side for tacos and drinks on a patio. Stay downtown for a live show at the Paramount Theater, travel across the bridge to the South Congress district, or rent a canoe and explore the lake - which also happens to be a river.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

The LINE Austin is celebrated for its central location and modern, eclectic atmosphere, drawing guests who appreciate its proximity to downtown attractions. Many guests commend the hotel for the pristine state of its rooms and bathrooms, although noise and service issues have been noted.
While the pool and pet-friendly policies are a hit, there are critiques regarding value, with some guests citing high costs and additional charges that seem incongruous with their experience. Mixed reviews emerge about the service, with commendations for staff professionalism tempered by reports of unresponsiveness and delays.

The Line is a full service , beautiful hotel ! They’re in a great location downtown Austin which is easy to get to from everywhere in the city. U ere on a g took 2 mins for pick up! There are three restaurants inside and a coffee shop with great hours . My room was gorgeous ! Bed was soooo comfortable ! Plenty of plushy pillows which I sunk right into and fell right asleep ! I had a city view room ! The view was great when I wanted to see it , and all light and sound were completely Blocked by the thick glass windows and blackout curtains at night for a peaceful night sleep. I was worried about this coming from a hotel in Dallas which had no sound blocking and the traffic kept me awake at night - NOT THE CASE HERE! The room is also stocked with snacks and drinks ! The bathroom is huge and styled beautifully , with a shower head that was like a head and neck massage ! Overall I can’t say enough good things about this place , other than I already want to come back ! Pics are the view from my room .

I was wowed as soon as arrived the staff open my Uber door for me and welcomed me to the hotel. The lobby of the hotel was absolutely beautiful, welcoming , and warm. Kateryna was very pleasant and informative at checkin and made me feel very welcome. In the lobby they have plenty of space to work or sit to eat a quick bite. I was wowed to see 2 fire places which i definitely sat by every morning to enjoy my morning coffee from their coffee shop and just to relax . My room was very spacious and the design gave me a modern zen feel! The mini bar was fully shocked and convenient. There was also tons of free amenities in the room so honestly you don’t have to bring anything but clothes! During my stay I had a chance to goto P6 which I seen all over TikTok! So I had to go, the staff was extremely friendly and informative of the menu we ordered a few shareable items and ordered tons of different drinks off the menu. P6 is a true vibe , it has a very of the lake and the beautiful city of Austin. I was lucky to see the infamous bats flying and capture some very nice photos of the city from the roof top. I only stayed for 2 nights with was definitely not long enough. Me and my fiancé didn’t wanna leave, we will definitely make this our hotel of choice during our next visit to Austin. Especially since the hotel is close to many attractions and restaurants.

The Line is a perfectly okay place to stay in downtown Austin if the price is right when you book.
Pros: - Great location on S. Congress Avenue Bridge. If you have a lake view you can see the nightly bat flight from your room - Coffee shop and Veracruz were good but service slow. We did not try Arlo Grey. - Good sized rooms but almost no storage space.
Cons: - This hotel is showing its age. The recent photos provided by management on Trip Advisor (May 2024) do not seem accurate to me. The room was quite dark - only one small lamp by bed and corner light fixture. The photos appear to show backlighting behind bed which our room did not have. Paint was cracked and flaking in the bathroom. Carpet looked well used. - If too expensive to renovate entire hotel at least get new beds. Mattresses were too soft and beds were very low to ground. - Service could be improved. We did not see any bell-person at any time during our 5 day stay. We did not need assistance but we did observe other guests who might have. Our room was not cleaned until after 4pm on 3/5 days and then only after we called down to the front desk. Also we twice requested 2 bottles of water and another robe as there we were a party of two but these items were not provided. We gave up after the second request.

We came for a wedding at The Line Austin hotel and booked a room for 2 nights. Our room overlooked the river and if it was in summer, we would have seen the bats come out from under the bridge each evening. The downtown location is great, easy walking to restaurants and The Driskill, where we went to breakfast each morning. The banquet facility is lovely, huge floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river/lake and surrounded by autumnal trees.. The wedding dinner was delicious and the waitstaff was attentive and friendly.
However, the hotel and our room leave much to be desired, particularly given the high room rate. First clue should have been the elevator out of order (for what we found out was for quite sometime) for our tower. 1. The mattress is not large enough for bedframe and hubby banged into corner, causing a huge bruise, so we pulled mattress forward, leaving a big gap by the headboard. Mattress is only 6" from ground, not easy for senior citizens like us to get on/off the bed. Actually, our air mattress for camping sits higher off the ground. 2. There are no racks to hang wet towels to dry. 3. There is no surface for accessories, only one luggage rack for two guests. 4. Bad/low light, the wife had to prop cosmetic mirror by the window to apply her makeup. 5. There is no place to hang wet pants and coat from the rain. We ended up using hangers which we hung on the light fixture, mirror and tv. 6. Heater did not work.
Luckily there are other hotels nearby with similar views which we will choose should we return to Austin.

Dear sjskns, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the idiosyncrasies of our property may not be to everyone's liking, and we agree that the continued maintenance of one of our five elevators is absolutely unsatisfactory. With that we are thankful you have chosen us to host you for your stay in December. Should you ever grant us another opportunity to host you again, please reach out to me directly. I would be happy to assist you in building your future reservation at a discounted rate. We hope to connect with you soon. Warmest regards,

I read reviews in advance and found that unfortunately the negative ones were pretty spot on… The hotel is rather dingy and dirty. I think they believe it’s hip for everything to be as dimly lit as it is, but I think it was more to cover how poorly maintained and cleaned the property was. I couldn’t see in the bathroom, even after I requested the make up mirror that also came in only a dim setting. I had requested a quiet room, but as it happened, we got to listen to the wooshing of the elevator all night long. Turn down Service, which was greeted very happily via text as something that would be taken care of straight away translated into a bag of towels being left outside our room, with absolutely nothing being done in the room itself. The staff brings an overly casual attitude to their work, so much so that I felt as if I was putting people out by asking them for some thing. The topper was having had brunch at P6. We were given the ticket after having requested it three separate times. We were not given a pen, so we had to use the QR code in order to complete payment. As a consequence, that bill went straight to a credit card, and not to our hotel room. So when I went to check out and apply the $28 experience fee that you are required to pay to the food and beverage bill I was not permitted to do so. I asked in a variety of ways whether we could back out the one charge and apply it and was just flatly told no. I will say that the only truly positive experience that I had was with the valet. The staff both arriving and departing were incredibly courteous, professional and energetic.

My fiance and I had the worst experience here. Had a nice time at the pool (although the surface is extremely hot, unlike other hotels that install outside flooring that doesn’t burn your feet) other than that you had to walk up to a dirty looking bar / kitchen to place an order for food/drink (no table service). The worst part of the experience was a few hours after the pool we went to relax in the room, only to be disturbed by repeated loud knocks on our door an hour or so later by a very rude staff member telling me I had to come down to the lobby because their credit machine accepted, and later declined (?) my credit card after we had gone through those steps to get the key to our room anyway. I explained that this was unprofessional and we’d come down when we were ready. Less than an hour later, while napping, we received a phone call to our room asking us again to come down to provide the credit card to put on hold (that was already provided and accepted)! At this point I immediately came down to explain that this was unacceptable and that we already went through this. Erik (front desk clerk) explained that was him that sent the staff member up and called us and would comp us for the room. He didn’t realize that the room was already paid for so all he comped us for was the amenity fees, $30!!! After leaving a review with the hotel and explaining all of this Erik responded with “we did comp you, the amenity fees” when the intent and discussion at the front desk was to be the entire stay. If you want to have a peaceful gateway, do NOT go here! In my life I’ve never experienced such a terrible experience at a hotel or motel for that matter. Truly disrespectful, unprofessional, and inattentive staff all around. Would not recommend this place accept for the restaurant (P6) which I’ve enjoyed in prior visits to Austin, which was why we decided to stay at the line. Big mistake. My advice would be to double check that their machine actually accepted the card when they ran it prior to checkin. Even at that, you just may get a knock on your door or a phone call asking for you to fix their own problem (same credit card used both times and, again, was told it went through and was provided keys to entry initially).

We went to The Line for a Friends Weekend and while the place was clean and most people were friendly, we will never be staying there again. We had decided on The Line over hotels because my friend loves the restaurant. Apparently when The Bat Fest is going on, it takes over the bridge under the hotel and half the hotel is unusable. Not that the hotel cares. They booked the rooms knowing that the windows and bed will shake and be loud with bass until after midnight. Which would have been fine...I guess...if they'd have mentioned it. Then the person at the desk lied to me when I asked if there were other rooms in the other tower. He didn't even bother to look at the computer. He just sneered and rolled his eyes. Then an hour later, tired and annoyed with the noise, I called to just ask when the music would be over. I know the hotel cannot deal with what the city allows, but I wanted to know how much longer it would be until I could sleep. And low and behold, the man on the other end of the line said that it would be a few more hours, BUT there were plenty of rooms in the other tower for me. So the other guy was a liar. Good to know. Then when I went to get my new key, he said something along the lines of "What do you expect on weekends" and muttered something about my age as a woman. So that was fun. They also closed 3/4 of the bar and put potted plants on the bartop so there were only a few seats. Which was a bit confusing, but if they didn't have the staff, I would understand. So no, I will not be going back to this hotel. It's cute, most people were nice, but the beds weren't great, the furniture was trying too hard to be cool so it was easily breakable, and there was no lighting in the bathroom. However, once again, most people were kind. So I will take that to heart. Because they did nothing wrong.

The hotel had some issues and the suite we stayed in looked a tad “tired”. Hotel It’s supposed to be newly remodeled yet the bathroom shelving was very crooked and the shampoo and conditioner bottles were about to slide off .. Housekeeping didn’t come at all one day, another day they forgot to leave hand towels ..however the valet person Matt Hawkinson was great!! Loved his speedy service and friendliness 👍😊

Clean modern hotel, but two nights in a row there was minimal to no hot water for a morning shower, had to crank the valve all the way to maximum hot and then only a weak flow of warm water came out. Breakfast options were also limited. Veracruz was supposed to be a highly rated food truck, but my steak taco was cold and dry. There is also a coffee bar, but overpriced and limited food options.

Dear David S, Thank you for reaching out to us. We sincerely apologize for the issues relating to the boiler. We have since replaced the boiler and we should not foresee these issues to happen again. Is is true that we do not have a dedicated breakfast hall, however we have plenty of breakfast options by way of In Room Dining that serves traditional American breakfast, Veracruz tacos with 5 different breakfast tacos, and lastly Alfred Coffee that serves coffee and breakfast pastries that are all made in house by our talent Arlo Grey bakery team. We thank you for granting us the opportunity to host you at the hotel. Should you ever wish to return again in the future, please do not hesitate to reach out me directly. Yes. They are packed with mini bar products but I was able to squeeze a bottle of water. I am sure that you can ask for a fridge to be delivered and set up if you need more space.
I've just left this hotel and yes, there is an amenity fee. I wouldn't recommend this place. It's very overpriced. Four seasons prices for a Motel 6 experience.
There are more places to choose from in the Austin area.
