Lodged in the hotel for a couple of days during business meetings. Rooms are good and the view to the inside yard is calm and no traffic noise. Staff at breakfast area (management level) was very rude as we used the small kiosk to get some food as the restaurant was not open yet - he complaint as we were sitting there and an astonishing impolite way.
I tried to stay here during the Snow/Ice Storm last week. I booked the reservation thru the omni website and recieved a confirmation. The day I was suppose to check in I recieved an email from Omni stating the "Property has no power" and they would be cancelling my reservation. This was odd as most buildings in the downtown area didn't lose power. So I borrowed a car to investigate. When I arrived onsite I asked the valet guy and he said they never lost power so I went inside and the staff at the front desk said the same. When I asked about my room they said they had a water pipe break but nobody was evaculated and everyone was doing fine. Then one of the people behind the desk said that the real problem was that people were not leaving and checking out which is why my room was probably cancelled. This is not acceptable as this decision they made caused me to be homeless. The fact that they completely lied to me during an emergency shows the class of people that this company respresents. I ended up having to sleep at a hostel as eveything else was booked. Don't trust this company to honor your reservation as they will cancel it if it benefits them. This company is full of liars. They deserve a zero star.…
Beautiful room, courteous staff, very accommodating. Came in at 3am for a conference and staff was visible, pleasant and attentive. The check in was smooth and pleasant. They were resource in addressing questions I had and went above and beyond to meet my needs.
I do not blame the hotel itself but I called the Omni customer service number last week and asked if the hotel was still under construction. I was put on hold while they “called to check with the hotel“ they told me that everything was done except the conference rooms and meeting rooms. That was fine since I didn’t plan on using those rooms. Well to my surprise when I checked in today the hotel lobby was still very much under construction. I have always been a fan of Omni but this time they were not truthful. If you are in the Austin area I would definitely recommend staying somewhere else or at least be aware of the construction and that they are not truthful about it not being done. I again called the customer service number after checking in and they didn’t have an answer for me. No upgrading the room for not being truthful and no money off for the room. Just be aware of miss-information from Omni.…
Stayed two nights here in March 2022. The hotel is built sort of like an Embassy Suites with elevators that look out into an internal atrium, except the whole complex is undergoing construction so you're looking down into a mess (or across into an abandoned office building). Check-in on a late Thursday evening was awful: no one at the "desk" (which is a kiosk over to the side), no valet to take the rental car; and an extra trip back down when the room key didn't work. Asked for a room at the end of the hall so at least the room was pretty quiet. But the elevators are slow so it made for a long wait to get down each morning for business. It's also located off the main Austin drags, so you have to walk to downtown--but the room was still loud enough that you could hear the clubs pumping music until late at night. No way would I come back here. Next time, I'll get my SXSW hotel earlier to have better options.…
Arrived at Austin airport. Looked at various hotels on my phone. Omni showed a rate of $237. Uber to the hotel around 11pm. At front desk, they said best rate was in the $400s. Guy at front desk even looked at my phone to see it was the right date, said sorry he couldn't go that low. Rip off. Also, they charge for Wifi. Who does that anymore?
Mark at the front desk was amazing and willing to accommodate us and advise us about the area. The location is perfect and there is plenty to do within walking distance. Would recommend and definitely go back. We love Austin and visit twice a year.
The valet, Michael, was very helpful and quick! The room was clean and spacious, and the entire hotel staff was very welcoming. The hotel was also very centrally located, so it's easy to walk around downtown. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to coming back.
Connor and Colin were great valets! Very kind, quick and efficient on a very busy night with numerous holiday parties! Big shout out to both of them! They were super accommodating to our group, especially a few who needed to make a quick appearance at the event and then go.
Pros: Friendly staff Comfortable, clean, spacious room Convenient parking ($48/day - parking anywhere downtown is expensive though) Great location Great view Drink vouchers appreciated Cookies and cider at the door were a nice touch Good, clean, well-supplied gym Neutral: construction. Nowhere to sit as you wait for your room to be ready. No restaurant. Not Omni’s fault, work in progress, but something to know before you get there, and take into account considering the cost. Cons: No hot water unless you’re willing to wait a while (10-15 min). I understand it’s harder to get hot water in the higher rooms, and also when there are fewer guests, but still, this is a problem. NOISE. Lively all evening, then overwhelming from midnight to 4 am. We were on the 18th floor, but downtown acoustics direct it right up to you. I understand Austin is the music capital of the world, and that the same location that gives you great access to 6th St will also be noisy - but be aware that in downtown, on Saturday and Sunday night, from 2-4 am, there are (drag-racing?) car engines revving so loudly that sleep is impossible, even with sleeping pills and white noise. I know the Omni can’t stop the noise or move the hotel - but it’s intolerable as it is right now. So, despite the pros, there’s no sleep and no hot water. These are core elements of hospitality, and nothing can balance out their absence. I’ll emphasize that the Omni’s description on this site opens with the fact that it’s hard to find a quiet hotel downtown.” And it is. I wish you well, good folks at the Omni, but we won’t stay there again while these problems exist.…
