Best location in Austin in our opinion. Right on the lake and a half mile walk to downtown. Running, walking trails at the doorstep and views for miles. Starbucks on site, great rooms and service. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Austin.
Everything is super walkable from this hotel, and you can't get closer to the bats! I also love the river trail right outside the door. Great place for a walk/run. Only disadvantage is that they STILL don't have the concierge lounge open. Time to open in back up! Seriously.
My experience with and at the Hyatt Regency in Austin was an unexpected pleasure. Each member of its staff from management to waiter/waitress was efficient, courteous, cooperative and went out of his/way to please. My room was voluntarily upgraded when the app assigned room was not acceptable. And, I was able to plan a luncheon for 20 at the Bistro. The food there was better than some of the downtown restaurants. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel and thank the management for a wonderful experience.
Great location just south of the river overlooking downtown and the Congress Avenue Bridge where the bats fly from every night (if you've got a room on the right side of the building). Check-in was smooth enough and there's a large multi-storey car park that's expensive and quite a long walk from the lobby. Room is a good size with great views over the river towards downtown. Bed is comfortable, safe is a decent size but the bathroom was small and the shower head is at chin height. Nice big TV, tea and coffee making but the room felt dated generally. Air conditioning worked well and was mercifully simple to use. Breakfast was ok but we had an argument every morning when arriving at breakfast because our rate included breakfast but they wanted to charge us even though it was included. Not what you want every morning. Ordered in-room dining the first night as we'd just arrived from London but you had to go and collect it from the bar downstairs which was a pain and nobody notified us when it was ready so it was pretty cold by the time we got it. The next night we chose to eat in the bar downstairs which was a mistake. I had a terrible Pork Belly risotto which was huge lumps of pork belly with fried rice that had been cooked bone dry. All this after some terrible service where the waitress said she forgot to hand in our order and then changed her mind to say that she had handed it in but it was ignored. Needless to say that we didn't eat in the hotel again (apart from the argumentitive breakfasts!!). Swimming pool was nice for a dip after a hot and humid day of walking around but the pool area is fairly small and no towels were available when we arrived mid afternoon and had to wait about half an hour for towels after asking for some. It's a shame the service and food in this place are so shabby given it's great location on the river and within walking distance of downtown.…
Was nice. Just expected what a member I am and what was paid. Expected more. Should have just been a regular member for what I paid for on the room and experience I got. I thought it would have been a more better experience for what a member is compared to a regular.
Stayed here for our extended 3 nights Texas trip. My daughter and I enjoyed the convenient location to S. Congress and Downtown. Flying bats at sunset was just steps away from the hotel. Beddings were clean and super comfy.
Perfect location relative to downtown, riverfront, trail access, food, walk to parks—— corporate vibe yet delivers for people that are active—— restaurants are nearby, short drive to airport ——— the rooms present well but just little worn around the edges —- otherwise, my go to Austin Hotel
Everything was good except for buffet breakfast which was $28 dollars. It's breakfast. It shouldn't cost anywhere near that price. Rooms are clean and nice and decent gym as well. Right on the river and great walking path outside the door.
Nothing against the property but against the manager. Specifically the one working Sunday Morning on Father’s Day June 19th around 10 am. I was with my kids to celebrarte Fathers Day and I will not bore you with the details but I’m short the folks at the front desk would type into their computer a question I asked them. It had a simple yes or no answer. I asked the young girl what she just typed - was it an email? No she was using teams to ask her manage the question. She said it might be 5-10 minutes. I didn’t want to wait that long with my daughters waiting in the restaurant. So I asked I I could speak to the manager who sits behind the wall. She went back and came back and said the answer to my request is no and that he can’t talk right now as he is on the phone. OK I said well a Yes for my question (value $5) would be easy but if he could please come up when he/she is done I will be in the restaurant. They never showed up. It would have been easy for them to make my day. They didn’t - instead it left a bad taste in my mouth. Most of the staff was using teams - they weren’t empowered to make simple decisions.…
I remember my parents staying here decades ago when I graduated, and I came back nearly four decades later. Same atrium look but nicely updated and modern rooms. Service was friendly and I liked the text messages before and after my trip following up with my journey. The property sits on the river and I was upgraded to a room facing the Colorado River (score!). My big complaint is the exorbitant parking. As a seasoned business traveler, I was aghast at the $50 nightly parking rate. Maybe NYC or Chicago, but Austin? This place is also made for conventions. It's a significant walk from the parking garage through the convention center, down the escalator, and past the front desk to the elevators to your room. Be prepared!
