This is a hip, beautifully designed hotel. During COVID, they have all the appropriate safety measures in place. The rooms are modern and comfortable - but underwhelmed with size of bathroom (not a deal breaker though). The lobby is fabulous. There is a lot of construction going on, including new renovations to the pool area, but you can’t beat the proximity to Rainey Street District! Geraldines offers great food, cocktails and live music. So authentically Austin!
Always enjoy my stay here. Nick and his team are amazing and embody hospitality. They made a very special occasion very memorable. From the moment we pulled up and valet opened our doors, to the very warm and inviting check in process, the great food at Geraldines, great breakfast at Cafe 605, to the beautiful atmosphere! Just an amazing experience all around! Highly recommend!
We picked this hotel for the location and view. I had no idea that the Rainey street area had such an active nightlife. It was a surprise, fun area. The surrounding area is full of construction so that's somewhat unappealing. Our room was a King lake view. Comfortable and spacious. The wall had " old Austin" mural which was pretty cool Best part of Kimpton is the free wine social hour! The decor of the hotel embraces the towns musical roots. Service is top notch.
Our plans were to book three nights each for 4 couples for the end of March 2021. Seeing the one sentence on the web-site re: renovation., I called the hotel directly to get more information. I spoke to a young lady named Alex who was very abrupt and told me to read the information on the web-site. I tried explaining that I needed more information and she rudely again told me to read the web-site. I gave up and decided to find another hotel where the staff wouldn't mine answering questions.
As many Austinites faced power outages across the city, my family turned to Hotel Van Zandt for power, food, and a pet-friendly environment. The moment we pulled into the valet, I spoke with the manager, James, and he assured me my vehicle was in great hands regardless of the icey circumstances! I was happily surprised by the great service provided during unprecedented circumstances. While checking in, the front desk receptionist Nick was very helpful. Overall, I had a great stay and a nice room view to see the snow fall cover Austin! I would recommend, they definitely put their clients first!
