The JW Marriott Austin stands out for its inviting atmosphere and prime location that guests love for easy exploration of downtown. Many have applauded the hotel for its exceptional cleanliness and the courteous staff who provide personalized service, despite occasional service hiccups. While the rooms are celebrated for their comfort and space, opinions on the hotel's value and amenities like the pool are mixed, with some citing overcrowding and high costs. However, the majority of guests find the luxury experience to be well worth it.

I stayed at the JW Marriott for a business trip. Had a small conference room for meetings. The food in every area was excellent. Service was outstanding! The shower was super powerful. I say this because some of my recent stays at different hotels were good but the shower just trickled out which is a pet peeve of money when paying good money for a room. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Austin TX!

As with all reviews, the COVID factor need be taken into account.

With that said, the check in process was easy and the room was clean. As with all Marriott's, I personally hate the pillows but that is simply a preference.

The location is right in the heart of Austin and we walked to dinner both nights while enjoying good cocktails at the hotel bar after dinner.

The only sight knock would be the workout room. I worked out the afternoon when I got there around 2:00pm and the place was a little messy and there was a bucket catching water from the ceiling. The next morning, the room had not been touched and the same towels that were laying on the counter, remained. I know staffing is short, but a quick sweep of the workout room every few hours might be helpful.

As a loyalty member of Marriott, some of the lounges are open but not this one.

Overall, i would surely stay here again.

Dear Monarch23, Thank you for staying with us and providing feedback. Very happy to hear you enjoyed the hotel's location and our bar. I'm sorry the fitness room was not in the typical high quality condition it should be. I have addressed this with our team to ensure we do not miss our routine cleaning, especially if there is some maintenance work taking place. We really appreciate your 5 star review and hope to see you again soon! Scott Blalock, General Manager

I was in Austin for two nights at the American Bar Association meeting. My first trip to Austin. Although I was largely confined to the hotel, I found it very comfortable. My room was beautifully furnished and impeccably clean. Great restaurants and bars in the lobby, an upscale fitness center (same late model machines as my gym at home), a beautiful spa. Staff were very helpful. Twice I ordered late night tea service in my room - service was quick with attention to my particular requests. I took one short walk across the bridge spanning the Lady Bird river. The location of this property is very close to the University of Texas and the state capitol building.

Arrived for business Monday eve. Everything went according to plan, checkin was fine and room was good, clean and spacious. When I got in the shower, was when I realized they put me in a handicapped shower room. Not normally an issue expect the shower hit me in my chest (i'm 6'4) and the water pressure was subpar....could not even make it to the back of the tub kinda weak.
I called the front desk and let them know to make a note on my file and to not put me in the handicapped shower again which he was happy to do. I did not want the hassle of packing back up and moving to a new room when my stay was only 2 nights.
Today, I went down to desk and broke a twenty for the valet, when she asked me how my stay was going, I again mentioned the shower issue and asked that instead of "doing anything" I only had one night left and to just add some points to my member number. She smiled, re-read my comments from last night and offered to add 500 points to my membership. I smiled and said thanks but 500 points is nothing since the last issue I had with a courtyard (same brand) and two days of cold showers and they added 10K points.....don't think her training quite covered the "how to take care of a member guest side of HTM".
tonight after all day on my feet, I was looking forward to a hot shower and early bed when....you guessed it, the shower pressure was virtually non-existant and to top it all off, I had cold water! SMH, this should not ever be an issue at this kind of hotel chain!

May seriously re-think my future stay here in April & August when my plans to return are.

I spent three nights here on business. I had requested a king room and as a gold elite member I have never had an issue getting one but at this property when I checked in I was given the run around. First I was told that I had reserved two double beds which I did not and never would do. Then I was told that I would have to pay an up charge for a king and then when I asked what the additional charge would be I was told that there weren’t any available anyway and that the hotel has mostly two double bedded rooms so that four people can stay in each room. That wasn’t disclosed anywhere when I booked or on the website. I had booked through a conference room block because even many months before that was all that was available since the conference had blocked the hotel so be aware of this when you book especially through a block that doesn’t allow you to guarantee a type of room. As for the hotel itself, it was within walking distance of a lot of restaurants which was good. The shower was excellent but the mattresses were saggy and parking was expensive ($49 per night). Overall the property was just ok.

Nicely situated and great amenities for business travel, but not the best for a couple vacation. Bathroom lighting was very dim and just one sink. Shower, toilet and sink were all in the one room bathroom, so only one person could get ready at a time. One upholstered chair in the room to relax in and it was very firm. Pluses: 5 minute walk to the bat bridge. We waited 45 minutes after sunset but never saw them unfortunately. It may have been due to the hurricane in Houston. Good location to walk around town and location to restaurants. Overnight parking is expensive. $49 for self park. Staff was very nice and helpful. Rooftop bar was fun. Nice view and wonderful balmy weather to enjoy a cocktail in September. You pay more to stay here due to all the amenities. For me I don’t need the pool, spa or meeting rooms. Italian restaurant is closed due to Covid.

We enjoyed our weekend getaway in this hotel. The property is well maintained inside and out. The lobby is bright and spacious with lots of seating areas. There are several restaurants in the hotel. The swimming pool and gym are excellent for a weekend getaway.
Our room is clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Everything is in good working order. Wifi is stable throughout the property. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Linens and towels are fresh.
Staff are pleasant, responsive and accomodating. Check in/out process is easy and hassle free. Self parking and valet parking are available for a daily fee. This hotel is located in downtown Austin close to shops, restaurants and places of interest. A nice place to stay when visiting Austin.

Call before I go make sure your room doesn’t face construction
app.

I stayed in this hotel 3 times before and the hotel is nice and has a great pool but 1. The hotel does not allow access to the elite lounge on the 5th floor to everyone anymore, only to titanium elite and in the past gold elite or greater can join. What’s more is I went at 845pm and all the elite lounge staff was (4 people) talking in the stick room behind the lounge with 0 patrons in the lounge and they were mad I even knocked on the door to ask 2. Even worse! I could barely sleep all night since the room was facing a hotel that was being built Nextdoor that had construction going all night , I was on the 2x floor and it was so loud all night it sounded like the workers were having conversations outside my room. I couldn’t sleep. 3. The hotel shampoo/soap/conditioner etc were all different brands as if they bought from different companies or couldn’t get a set from one vendor. It was rather sad. 4. The bathroom tiling was all off in the shower. 5. I had to park in the street since the hotel said they had no available parking or I had to valet for $50/nt and that was a rip off. .
I hope things get better here

This is a really nice hotel and the location makes it convenient to walk too many restaurants and bars in the area. The rooms are super clean and the bedding is comfortable. I good quality cotton sheets and they had them. We spent a lot of time at the pool. We rented a Cabana for the day and had a really great time. The Cabana room was comfortable and we enjoyed lounging and watching TV and then going out and taking a dip in the pool. The server for our Cabana was super friendly and we really enjoyed her okay. The pool was amazing and had great views of downtown since it was located on a higher level. It did have a Starbucks inside so we would just go down the elevator and head to Starbucks in the morning to get coffee and bring it back up to the room. All in all, we had a great day and would recommend this hotel. Valet parking was pretty much necessary at this location. The valet parking was very efficient and you didn't have to wait long at all to get your car like some places.

Stayed here for a convention, first timer, and I really enjoyed my stay. The lobby is cozy with everything conveniently located but did not create the impression of a crowded area. Checking in was a breeze and the facility has enough elevators to avoid keeping you waiting.

As to be expected, the rooms were spacious, well appointed, clean and quiet. Service was timely and excellent.

The hotel has other great services such as a good restaurant for breakfast, a starbucks and was located close to many other places where to eat, running from the inexpensive to the very expensive restaurants.

Again, service here was the best, and made the stay even more exceptional.
