Nestled in the tranquil surroundings of Austin, Miraval Austin is a haven for guests seeking a variety of activities and spa treatments, all set within a serene atmosphere that numerous travelers admire. While the comfort and views of the rooms receive commendation, others find the rooms small, not as clean, and in need of an update. Staff friendliness is often highlighted, but some guests report service inconsistencies.
Despite the generally high cleanliness standards, issues with room upkeep have been mentioned. The hotel's value is a point of contention for many, with some feeling the costs outweigh the experience provided.

Detailed Reviews
If you have the financial resources, this is where you want to put them. My sister and I both own our own companies and needed some much needed rest and relaxation. We were looking for somewhere to expand/learn meditation, crystals, tarot, mind/body as well as spa in a beautiful environment with good food. I researched many places and luckily found Miraval. We decided on the Austin location (coming from Boston and Chicago) and we were not disappointed. The beds were to die for (sooo awesome), the rooms were big and clean, the food was absolutely fantastic, you could grab food to go before a program or sit and eat. No tipping on property made it easy to not worry about that aspect. The classes were amazing for me, a novice, and my sister who had a lot of 'energy' experience. We both had our 'aha' moments together and for ourselves. Having credit dollars per night made choosing programs that are additional cost easy (there are many great programs at no additional fee). The spa is beautiful, but a bit expensive if you are out of credits.... but a great place to spend them!) A few absolute pointers: take the time to look at the site and book your courses as soon as you can: my largest program was 8 people, so they close out when they are booked. Courses are easy to cancel, as long as it is more than four hours in advance. Food is fantastic and they compost all leftovers from the table. It took us both about two days to decompress and our stay of five nights was exactly enough time where we felt we were ready to go. We started out with a Tarot card workshop where you receive your own deck and the Meet your Spirit Guide with Jerry, that put us in the right mood for the whole week. Not to miss programs: Courtney's cleansing ceremony, Ed's bee experience, any photography course with Jess!, any and all meditation varieties (crystal bowl, crystal, yoga Nidra, floating, shanti pranam with Steve, etc. We have decided that we are going next year to the Berkshire property and are already looking forward to it.

I'm experiencing what I'll call the Miraval afterglow, and I was only there for a day! Highly recommend! My partner and I wanted to get away, as many of us do right now, so we treated ourselves to a day pass at Miraval this past weekend. We live nearby so location was perfect to escape.
There are activities that are included in the day pass and other programs that cost extra. Recommend signing up for everything you want to do ahead of time to ensure you'll be able to participate due to space capacity. Lunch is included and they have a grab and go snack bar you can swing by (I don't want to miss the opportunity to shout out the delicious avocado and cacao cookies that were there).
Even with wearing masks, Covid was almost a distant memory while we were there. I am an individual who has been taking Covid precautions very seriously, and Miraval surpassed safety expectations. From their capacity restrictions, sticker reminders to stay apart, and distantly spaced programs, I felt very safe without it getting in the way of my experience. It also felt spacious as the paths from place to place are all outside. The Texas heat seems to feel even better while at Miraval.
If interested in our day, we did an activity I'll refer to as horse whispering, called Common Grounds, which was very cool interacting with a horse but no touching, and Paula does an incredible job making you feel comfortable. I also did the cleansing ceremony (loved!) and tarot card session to learn more about tarot and did a reading. My partner enjoyed a massage at the spa and he did a shoulder set free session to end the day, and we spent a couple hours at the pool. What a way to experience the area while looking at the trees through the infinity pool.
I loved the little reminders to "be kind" and "look up and be inspired" around the area. When they call this a wellness retreat, they aren't messing around.

My husband surprised me with a weekend away at Miraval Austin. I can't say enough great things about the staff or the property. They had the highest standards for safety measures for Co-vid. Everyone wore masks, cleaned constantly(you could see staff spraying things down consistently throughout the day). It is a serene setting which was perfect for someone looking to relax, reflect, and recharge. The countless experiences available at Miraval made the weekend entertaining and we walked away having learned some things to add to our journey into healthier living. I would list all the staff members who make this place wonderful but rather than give credit to only those whose names I remember, I would rather say that everyone we had the pleasure of meeting made our stay wonderful. Thank you.

I was disappointed in my experience, from reservation process, to the food, to the activities. Perhaps I am spoiled as a local Austinite bc I have enjoyed the other destination spa, Lake Austin Spa. But I was curious about Miraval since its other AZ location gets good reviews. Indeed, many of the guests that I talked to selected miraval because they had been to the Miraval in Arizona. Those guests did not feel this Texas Miraval was as good. There were many reasons for my dissatisfaction. For starters, the reservation process took nearly three hours. This is because prices were posted on the website that were not being quoted to me by the agent. Room types were not all listed on the website. In addition several times I had to call back because the agent I was speaking with was not familiar with the details I needed about the Austin location. It also took several phone calls and quite a long time to locate an agent who could assist me and making my activities reservations. Unlike the Lake Austin Spa where nearly 80% of the activities are included in the price, the reverse is true here. Approximately 80% of the activities are fee-based. Some of these charges really struck me as absurd, such as charging me to take a guided hike through the woods, presumably commune w trees and nature. Isnt that what one does while hiking anyway?? For a spa, I do expect to enjoy good quality food. The food here was very disappointing and in some cases not even edible. Much of it was buffet style, dryed out, wilted, etc. There were very few made to order choices, and nothing inspired me. For instance I expect a spa to inspire me to make healthier food by seeing and tasting how good it can be. I was only here for two nights and I was already bored with the food. The spa itself was very pretty and I enjoyed the firepit. But the whirlpool was tiny and the chemicals in it were so powerful it stripped the color from my glasses frames!! Thank goodness I didnt put my hair in it.
Overall, there was a very corporate, un-spa-like vibe here. I will say that Miravals rooms and amenities within the room were very lovely and superior to the Lake Austin Spa. However, that would not be sufficient to choose Miraval next time I need a little restorative trip.

Starting with the good:
The spa was amazing. All of my services were wonderful and so relaxing. They really have this piece down well. The facilities are also beautiful with ample places to relax and rejuvenate.
The food and dining experience were great. I really enjoyed all the different ways/flexibility you had at Miraval. The cafe was not open when we were there so we ate all of our meals at the Nest. You could come and go as you pleased and there were many options to choose from. I thought the food was fantastic and I have many dietary restrictions, but they really cater to everyone. Great job!
As for the bad:
The walls and floors were paper thin in our room. So much so you could hear people speaking in other rooms through the walls at a normal volume. The hvac made a weird noise as well. I called before my arrival to say I needed a "feather free bed" as it was advertised on the website and I have allergies to feathers. I called before our stay and let the property know. The advisor I spoke with said it was noted THREE different places in our reservation. We checked in and there was feathers on both beds. It was two nights later before the issue was taken care of. Including three calls in one day that resulted in someone coming to our room who could not communicate with us and did not have any of the bedding necessary to make the change. They finally came on the third night and changed out the bedding but took the foam pillows I was able to get and replaced them with feathered ones. Overall, it was a complete mess. I didn't sleep at all two nights out of three which was awful. For the cost you pay per night, this just was not ideal. The rooms could definitely use work and felt like a basic hotel room. We didn't spend much time in our room, but still, when we were in there it did not feel inviting and cozy.
They also seemed very understaffed and confused at times, I know the property is new so they are likely working these pieces out. It took us close to 30 minutes to check out because there was only one person working the front desk on a Sunday morning checking people in and out.

We booked a Dreamcatcher King 3rd floor (bldg. 3) and a Dreamcatcher double queen 3rd floor rooms (bldg. 2 room) for 3 friends for 1 night to celebrate a birthday. We haven't seen each other in a year so hoped to spent time together. We all are frequent visitors to Lake Austin Spa and Miraval Arizona.
The good: The staff really tries hard. The cart drivers are extremely polite. The Spa is beautiful and the treatments are as good as we have experienced.
The bad: Our only meal together was dinner. We had reservations for 5 so we could get to spa for treatments at 6:30. The staff at the restaurant informed us they were having a propane outage?? so couldn't serve any meat entrees. Had salad bar and cheese tray. The Chef was trying to fire up grill but wouldn't be ready before we had to leave for spa. We ended up having a cheese tray for birthday dinner. The property is really spread out and the rooms in building 2 & 3 aren't what you would expect. Carpet in the stair area is stains and walls need to be painted. Loud bass humming sound in room 333 in building 3. We called to complain a couple of times and they offered a sound machine. Finally manager came to room and agreed it was unacceptable (by that time we felt like we were losing our minds because the noise was so loud). They ended up moving from the king dreamcatcher 3rd floor to a lower class single queen 2nd floor room in builidng 4. They said were almost at capacity. The single queen room had a motel type a/c that made the room smell like mold. We just turned the unit off. By that time it was 11 pm and we were all too tired and frustrated to do anything but say goodnight.
When we checked out they adjusted the king room price to the price of the single queen room ($150). The manager was very gracious to offer us each a free night to make it up to us. I will not go back even for free.

Visited this resort for a long weekend with a friend. It’s a beautiful location set among the mountains of Lake Travis. The room was nothing exceptional — our “Mountain View” was obstructed and we could constantly hear our upstairs neighbors starting at 6:30am. The products in the bathroom were in large (more environmentally friendly!) bottles, but seemed very watered down. Food at the main restaurant was good but not great, and we had a rude server that definitely tainted the experience. Yoga and meditation classes were slightly above average. All in all, didn’t have a moment where I felt the experience justified the cost. If you can swing it on Hyatt points, it’s definitely something different. But for the cost… we could have had a much nicer vacation elsewhere.

I read the reviews after I got home and glad I did not read them before I went. This was my 3rd Miraval stay, but I previously stayed at the Tuscon property. I had a great experience and my friend who accompanied me also had a great experience. The food was awesome, the spa services were top notch, the only thing that was confused was the transportation time for my friend, but it was rectified quickly. We found plenty of included activities to do, some we could not work in our schedule, I do agree that the instructors do invite you to book private sessions for more detailed and personal information and planning. However, I felt the free sessions we attended were information rich. Miraval has ALWAYS charged for more intensive experiences including honey tasting, cooking sessions, and the private sessions, that's what your resort credits are for! If you booked a stay with a free night, you probably didn't get as many credits. Most all inclusive resorts charge fees for premium or added services, so this is not unusual. I also completely understand the no phone policy, they are upfront about it and it has always been the same. Again, something I enjoy. Here's the bottom line, Miraval is not for everyone, however, for those who want to embrace the philosophy, use our resort credits to enhance our stay, I say well done. Yes, there are still a few growing pains, but that is to be expected. They are trying hard and the staff was wonderful, that's all you can ask.

I am thrilled that you were able to recognize and celebrate our wonderful differences from our sister property, Miraval Arizona. While our touch-points and purpose are consistent, each Miraval campus and their offerings reflect an expression of the surrounding environment. We encourage guests to forgo comparisons and approach each visit with intention. Rest assured we will celebrate your kind comments with the entire Miraval family, including those in Arizona. I have been to Miraval Arizona and was excited to try the one in Austin, especially since I live here. I was so disappointed. There were so many miscommunications with the front desk staff and management that ended up costing me money. It was impossible to get into classes and treatments. The amount of maple syrup, sugar and other sweeteners used was shocking at a "wellness retreat" - how about just some fruit? The room was tiny and bed was super uncomfortable. The restrictions were enforced with such rigidity that it was not relaxing. Strong chemical products were used to clean everything, even the locker in the spas where I was instructed to put my belongings after a severe spray down (we know c19 does that pass on surfaces so for a wellness spa, it would be nice if the use of chemicals was less). There are definitely some very friendly staff and dinner was good. But for sure not worth the price they are asking.

Amazing property! We went over Labor Day weekend for 4 nights. It was just what we needed to recuperate after a long hot summer of covid and being stuck at home. There were so many activities to keep you busy and so many places to space out and relax. Even the first day and a half rained nonstop and we enjoyed the hot tubs then and relaxing. Rain or shine it was great. The food was all great to us and we did the Just Cook for Me with Chef Michael which included wine pairings and learned a lot. I especially loved the vegan ceviche and vegan queso and chips. We met a lot of nice people during the activities and everyone seemed to be enjoying the place. Our favorite activities were Quantum Leap, Hill Country Challenge, and rock climbing. All the instructors were great including Kyle and Sunshine. Other awesome staff members were Drew, Marianna, and Scott in Hilltop Kitchen. I’d also like to thank Karen and Sean for getting us rescheduled into Hill Country Challenge course when the rain canceled our original time. All the staff wanted to help and make sure you had a good time.
No tipping and all inclusive is great for a stress free time. I would say most food portions are small so just order extra, especially room service breakfast. All food is tasty though and felt healthy. We found our room very comfortable. The water pressure is very strong. We had an outdoor shower, but I didn’t really get the point. There’s an indoor shower too so no worries. Unfortunately the bathtub was an awkward design and not comfortable, but I preferred all the hot tubs at the pool and spa anyway.
We’d definitely go back in the future with great promos Hyatt offers. We are trying to get to Arizona also. We really thought it was worth the value especially with the $175 resort credits to have some extra paid activities. Even if you didn’t have resort credits, you couldn’t go wrong with all the included activities. I would say 3 nights is a minimum to really experience the place. We were glad we had 4 to really unwind and experience a lot that Miraval had to offer.

There is a dry sauna, wet sauna, and hot tub located in each of the men's and women's' locker rooms. There is also a hot tub located at one of the pools.
Awesomely-whatever you want! It's laid back-whatever you are feeling + many come from experiences and wear whatever they wore to that (yoga pants, jeans, etc.). Some come more dressed up but you'd feel out of place if you went cocktail or super dressy. Miraval magic is truly-whatever you want/feel comfortable and happy in-no expectations and no judgement! Enjoy-the food is amazing!
I was there last month and found that many of the classes were booked but many times people didn't show up for them so I was able to drop in last minute and take someone's place. They served alcohol and snacks at the main pool on the weekend. That may have changed. The pools are heated and wonderful with beautiful views.
It is best to make reservations for dinner time but they are not as busy for breakfast or lunch. Room service menu is the same and they are waiving the delivery fee at the present time.
