Even though the actual exterior, bar area of this hotel is amazingly tranquil, we were very disappointed. First, they put us in a room directly outside the bar area. We got to listen to drunks yell and be crazy till exactly 10pm. We had an entire 10 minutes of silence, until those sake people went to there room, exactly next door to us. The next thing is they are out on the porch, maybe 20 feet from where we sleep yelling and laughing out loud while it echos though the tiny room they had us in. Then, they start smoking Marijuana and it feels our room with that disgusting skunk smell. I decided at 11:00 pm to finally get my pants on and go confront them, cooler heads prevail ( my wife ) and we decided to call the front desk. They immediately took cate of this. I assume the thin walls or doors had the smell of marijuana and cigarettes on our room all night, making it unbearable. We thought that at least when we checked out, we would be offered maybe a discount or something. We were not, but lessons learned. The other thing was that you can see right in the from we we’re staying in. The blinds did do not fit correctly and we were exposed to whoever walked by. I’m so pissed off about this entire experience, and it was a slap in the stave for what we paid.…
This is a cool looking place in a cool neighborhood but that's where it ends. It's double the price of a 4* hotel (this is only 2*), the rooms are noisey, basic and bright (no curtains just privacy/half light shades) and full of mosquitos. If you like hip, can sleep anywhere and like wasting your money, then this is an excellent choice.
Hotel San Jose offers a great Austin experience in an oasis on south congress. Rooms are great. Joe’s coffee an site and one of my favorite restaurants, Joanne’s next door. Sister hotel, Hotel Austin looked cool as well. I highly recommend!!!
great location, neat vibe. Beautful gardens, simple rooms with all amenities, but reduced to elemental, hip forms. Loved this place. Lovely garden courtyard for breakfast, late night drinks. Pool is a sliver, but perfect for cooling off
Really liked Austin but not this place! This hotel/motel came recommended so I was really disappointed. It is an old motel that has been nicely renovated into a pretty cool property. Beautiful landscaping and a very minimalistic style for the room. The price point seemed high to me for what we got. The main issue we encountered was noise. People were outside my room, which had an "old style" motel window that was on a shared patio, other guest and hotel staff, talking and disturbing us throughout our stay. To make it worse, the maintenance closet was next to us! The hotel was full so all they offered me was a small reduction to my rental rate. I felt my issues were not very important to them. I would NOT recommend or stay at this place again. There are several other nice properties along So Congress that I plan to stay at on my next visit. …
