I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. This is literally the worst spa hotel experiences I've ever hadI The staff are completely inept. They basically have teenagers running the place. The service is terrible (long wait times to get food, inexperienced wait staff). Everything there is a rip off, including spa treatments. But the kicker is that when it came time to check out, I couldn't understand the bill and asked the lady at the front desk to explain it to me since I was splitting the room with a friend. She had no idea about the bill and couldn't explain anything to me. A week and a half later, I get another $1700 charge to my credit card. And to top it off, I left my expensive Patagonia jacket there. My friend who stayed behind had it and took it to the front desk to have them ship it back to me. Well low and behold they lost it! They offered me a measly $100 for it. Shocker with how poorly run this place is! Folks, seriously save your money and go somewhere else!!

Dear Kmvet, I am very disappointed and quite frankly surprised to read this review as I thought our conversation about your recent stay with us was very positive and we had come to a resolution. I understand your frustration and as we discussed on the phone we have agreed to compensate you for your jacket at the full retail price. I apologize that the billing was not clear to you and will have someone reach out to explain the charges. Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to discuss further.

My friend and I wanted to go on a wellness retreat and looked at options all over the US. Lake Austin appealed to us because of its size and numerosity of activities. But we were concerned that being so small might mean limited dining and activity options. We knew what the website said, but also knew other places let you know when you arrived that certain things weren't available. Lake Austin did not disappoint. Our flight was delayed so we arrived much later than anticipated and were worried we'd miss lunch. The staff at check in quickly ushered us to the spa, where lunch is served until 3:00. They also let us delay our check in even further because we really wanted to take the afternoon yoga class. Once we were checked in, we were given a tour of the grounds. We were relieved to find that everything we would need for our four night trip was easy to find. I had the standard room and my friend got one with a lake view. Both were comfortable and perfect for us (solo female travelers). The beds were very comfortable and stacked with a variety of quality pillows. The bathrooms were laid out well and stocked with necessities. There is nothing fancy about the rooms (or the resort), but that was the point for us. We wanted a high quality wellness retreat where we would be very comfortable and able to focus of self-improvement. Our fears about dining options went away right away. The food is delicious and there are lots of choices at every meal! In addition to the vast menu of healthy and yummy options, each evening the kitchen offers several dinner specials. We could have stayed a lot longer and still been thrilled with the menu. On top of three very filling meals per day, we attended a couple of cooking demos, where we got to sample really delicious and easy to make recipes. The physical fitness activities are varied and lead by really excellent instructors. We loved daily hikes and yoga and had fun trying out new classes, such as Japanese Swords and a drum beat class. We also took some crafting classes and went home with collage art that we love! In fact, that class was one of the best surprises of the trip, as it was unexpectedly a blast. We have already ordered supplies to do this at home. The staff in general is really great. The front desk and activities desk personnel were always friendly and helpful. They seemed eager to make sure our stay was perfect. The restaurant is staffed by lots of friendly people, but I must mention that Jill and Bryce were exceptionally lovely. They really made us feel like valued guests (their tip was guaranteed/included, so it wasn't that). I cannot wait to plan my return trip. Four nights seemed ideal. We felt truly relaxed by the second day and fully in the zone on days three and four.

Dear Nolachar, Thank you so much for a wonderful review and your kind words. I am so pleased you were able to enjoy a nice variety of fitness classes, crafts and cooking demos. I couldn't agree with you more on the staff, they are truly the best part of Lake Austin Spa Resort and we are lucky to have such wonderful people. We are also very lucky to have such a talented chef that has been with us over eleven years, he takes such pride in his food and has a great ability to stay relevant with trends using fresh ingredients. We look forward to welcoming you back for another wonderful stay! With Gratitude, JoAnn Lenhardt General Manager

If you’re open to recharging or any form of self care, this is definitely one to consider. This is my second visit in a 8 year span but upon returning, it felt as special as it did the first time. The spa experience during Covid is different without the sauna and steam room in use, so if that’s a must have, you might have to wait a bit longer. A great place for a solo visit, with family, friends or as a couple.

Unfortunately this place has exorbitant prices and a staff that can only be described as uncaring. They post prices that aren't accurate. NOT worth the money. The facility is only interested in making money. Terrible staff

Incredible day relaxing and celebrating my husband's birthday at Lake Austin Spa! Such a professional massage and facial and great results for us both. The most beautiful relaxation room, outdoor pool/hot tub and grounds. If you go, plan to stay a long while to enjoy the facility! Lunch was a bit on the plain side, so spend money on treatments!

Stayed @ LASR for a girls trip. Our spa treatments, food, and rooms were paid prior to checking out. Weeks later I received an additional charge for almost $1,200.00. Called to clarify .. I had given the front desk my card for any additional alcohol charges. 2 nights of no more than 8 glasses of wine in total and they charged me $1200. $960 was added to my bill for no reason!!!!!! Still fighting with them months later .. they have no proof of extra charges or reasons!!! Will not be going back needless to say!

Absolutely love Lake Austin Spa Resort, one of my favorite experiences in Austin! The property is stunning – the whole resort sits right on the shores of Lake Austin and it’s totally private and exclusive. The rooms are super comfortable and beautiful, the food was amazing (Love that they recently added more wine choices – amazing wine list! The dining room staff was so friendly & accommodating too) My husband and I had the best stay! Can’t wait to go back!

We went with my wife for Thanksgiving and it was a wedding present. Our problems started when several weeks before, we tried to book a massage, given it is supposed to be one of the best spas. However, the reception was very slow at communication and didnt seem to care as they totally forgot to book my massage and worse booked something we didnt order nor want and potentially we would have had to pay for it... When we arrived, there were no slots left as the spa is not exclusive to hotel guests but to anyone and even if you pay $2000/night you are not guaranteed a time slot for a massage that you have to pay extra for. In addition, when you arrive and the place is poorly indicated, there is no one to greet you nor to take care of you, again not normal in a $2000/night hotel. The rooms are small and getting old as some wallpaper are coming off. Finally, my wife is pregnant so we had to make sure there no dangerous herbs in the meals that could harm the baby. Some waitress didnt seem to care and after we repeatedly asked to check with the chef, she still brought some dishes with harmful ingredients... At the end, given all our troubles, we were assured that the head of reservation would contact us to find a solution but it has been weeks and no one contacted us. With my wife, we have been to 40 countries together all over the world and in very nice hotels, we can tell you this hotel is NOT worth it and very overpriced. NOT RECOMMENDED

This was my second trip to Lake Austin Spa Resort. It is still wonderful. The employees are warm and friendly, the accommodations are cosy without pretense. I had the Aquastretch and for the first time in over a decade my lower back feels great! The food was amazing. My only "criticism" is the desert bowls have ridges, so my scraping the bottom of the bowl was quite noisy! =). Seriously though, the food is healthy and filling. If I had it to do over again. I would stay another night and have two Aquastretch sessions. Ms. Patricia was my favorite employee--what a delightful lady. I am saving my pennies so I can return again!

My daughter and I decided to stay here for a couple of days and we were not quite sure what to expect, but it by far exceeded all of our expectations. Every single one of the staff was amazing from the beginning, Liam and Mourad were so welcoming and it continued throughout our dining experience with the service staff. At every single meal the food was incredible. We couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere and the activities were amazing as well. We had a body treatment and a facial done at the spa that were amazing as well, highly recommend the lavender dreams body treatment and the collagen facial! It truly felt like we were being welcomed and into someone’s private estate. Already planning our next trip here!
