I stayed in this hotel because I wanted to be in a decent location but not in the middle of all the craziness. PROS * The staff was amazing, 5 stars for the staff. They were kind and very helpful Some rooms do have nice views CONS *$40 to park your car per night. You'd think you're at a Four Seasons at these rates. Pretty ridiculous *Carpets/Room smells musky. I had to call front desk and ask if they put me in a smoker's room because the smell was pretty off putting. They ended up moving me to another room and....same thing. *Furniture is old and peeling. *Decor is depressing. Everything in the room is dark brown and old. *The shower/tub was very tiny with a mediocre shower head. * The pool area was very disappointing (last time I went it was under maintenance too so there's that...) but in either case it was a regular motel style pool. *Jacuzzi is broken * The restaurant/bar only opens for "breakfast" Even though there were many choices within walking distance, it was upsetting that there was nothing about the hotel itself is a let down. It is in SERIOUS need of an update/renovations. It can be a great spot but as of now, it just lacks on every front

Hotel's Favorite
I've stayed here several times in the last year and have been very pleased overall. The staff are friendly and helpful. They recognize Diamonds (breakfast included despite other properties trying to side-step elite programs) including the upgrade when they can. On my last stay I had quite the view of the Capital. They have a wonderful location - right across from the Capital and many state offices on the North Side of Downtown and close to the UT campus. Of course the "cherry" on top is the famous Doubletree cookie. As update to my earlier review the workout room is now open. The only caveat I have to mention for full disclosure is that its an older property and it does have a few rough edges from regular wear and tear. There are definitely spots where it could use some updating/furniture replacement. That said I think the pluses far outweigh the issues and would recommend this property - I will be looking forward to staying there again.

The front desk was kind and very sweet. The rooms were in awful shape. Dirty and torn material. There was mold in the bathroom and the whole place smelled like mildew. I would not stay there again. Coffee was pretty good

Sam took great care of us from the get go. He took out all of our heavy bags and loaded everything for us on to the cart. He was very friendly and took great care of us, it was definitely a pleasant welcoming.

Never told at check-in that I had a food and drink credit as a Gold member. Not told about opt-in maid service. Hotel needs renovation. Not clean in hallways and elevators. Bar closed on Sunday night.
