I've stayed a couple of times this fall and was overall very pleased. The location is wonderful - just north of the major downtown attractions. Most remarkable is the view - directly across from the Capital. They are actually serving a full hot breakfast unlike others that have cut the service entirely. A couple of minuses - they have completely closed their workout room (other hotels are operating on a rationing basis) and the property itself is a bit worn. Of course they do have those wonderful Doubletree cookies and the staff was most generous with them. I should note the staff was both helpful and pleasant. Parking is a really good deal here for a downtownish hotel. I'll be staying here again next month.
ANYONE TRAVELING TO AUSTIN SHOULD DEFINITELY AVOID STAYING AT THIS "ESTABLISHMENT" UNLESS YOU LIKE YOUR ITEMS STOLEN! My friends and I traveled to Austin this past weekend to celebrate a birthday. Upon arriving back at our room Saturday evening, I noticed my designer purse was missing. After searching the room, I went downstairs to speak with guest services. MELODY was the employee working the front desk and I explained the situation. She was of no assistance so I figured I would try back in the morning since I was told there was no manager working. In the morning, the other guests in my room noticed they were missing items as well. The police were called and a report was filed. We went downstairs to speak with the front desk and this time STACIA was working. We requested a manager and were informed AGAIN that one would not be on duty until later that afternoon. After speaking with SADIE (Guest services manager), she informed us that nothing was shown on the cameras however we were not allowed to see for ourselves. Their staff was of NO assistance whatsoever in helping resolve this manner. ITEMS STOLEN INCLUDED DESIGNER BAGS, SUNGLASSES, MAKEUP CASES, CASH, CREDIT CARDS, SHOES AND CAR KEYS!!!! Staff even had the nerve to suggest someone in our party took the items, stated we must have lost or given someone our keys and then said that ultimately we should not be traveling with expensive items! I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU CHOOSE ANOTHER HOTEL FOR YOUR TRAVELING NEEDS AS THE MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYEES OF THIS ONE DO NOT HAVE THE GUESTS SAFETY AND PRIVACY IN THEIR BEST INTEREST.…
Moving in our daughter to an apt down the st to start UT & needed a nearby hotel. This was perfect with the living room sleeper sofa & separate bedroom. I booked through booking.com & unfortunately somewhere my reservation changed before arrival from my 2 queens & sleeper sofa to a king & a sleeper Sofa. Sadie was able to send us 2 roll always right away. With teenagers this really saved the day. We all enjoyed the pool after the move also. Met lots of other parents from all over. There isn’t a bar at this time with covid but they had drinks in a mini fridge to sell us. The 2 ladies up front at the desk were helpful & patient. Parking in the garage is tricky. When full Sadie came outside to meet us & assisted the man out front to direct where to place vehicles in front. The customer service here is hands down phenomenal & I won’t hesitate to stay again when visiting my daughter. The price was excellent as well.Ty for making our move in manageable. HH…
The room was large, with a kitchenette, separate sitting area, nice sized bedroom with a king bed and a huge bathroom. It is a easy walk to some of the sites, including the state capital building and grounds. The balcony was a nice bonus. I would go back to this hotel again
The rooms are much larger then we expected! Although the decor is a little older everything was clean and in good order. Our room had a kitchenette, living room, and bedroom. It is a walk to get many places, but doable. Very close to the capital. The breakfast was ok but would not recommend if you don’t have status for it to be free. We would go back.
